I love how you say "In conclusion" when you haven't even typed anything. I don't know, I just find it funny.

And GT is going to sell systems. Don't be silly.

wrong you also need to account for the total number of games for each console and ps2 library>>>>>any other console of last gen so the proportions even out.

In actuality this is true. The Last Gran Turismo, GT4, sold 8.79 million copies, and the GT3 sold 11 million copies whereas Neither Forza 1 or 2 and any of the PGR games have yet to sell over a million copies in their lifetimes, and the highest selling Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, has sold only 8.47 million copies in it's life time, with the others selling less. So really, I think it has potential to be a system seller to all the millions of people who bought the series in the past.

Your bad grammar made my brain hurt.

As for GT, that series is the biggest seller of the last ten years. I had a post somewhere that stated how many million of units it sold, but I won't bother. Suffice it to say that GT3 was the biggest selling PS2 game and game of that gen, GT was the biggest selling PS1 game and game of that gen, and GT5 will quite possibly be the biggest selling PS3 game and possibly the biggest selling game of this gen (yes, more than Halo despite Microsoft ramming it down our throats). It is the best racer by far; history has proven that time and time again. GT sells more than Forza and PGR combined, times two.

Not saying it will for sure sell like crazy, but it seems likely.

This topic is idiotic.

Gran Turismo 1 sold over 10 million copies and was the PS1's best seller.

Gran Turismo 2 sold just over 9 million copies and recieved glowing reviews from press and public alike.

Gran Turismo 3: AS sold almost 15 million copies and was the PS2's best seller.

Gran Turismo 4 sold 1 million copies in Japan in the first week alone.

How on earth is Gran Turismo 5 not a system seller? Gran Turismo was the first system seller for the playstation brand, and anyone who denies it's relevance today is either a fanboy or sorely misinformed.

GT5 might be one of the most anticipated games of this generation for anyone with a PS3. Period.

Any game can be a system seller,no one buys a system to buy random games to play, people buy there system for games they want,it is clear the GT series has a strong fanbase of 8-11 million.

Your arguement makes no since GT3 sold most of sales around the time PS2 soldhit30 million, not to mention whether a fanbase of a console is 20 million or 120 million GT will still sell that amount,i never heard of a console selling a game,a game sells itself and consoles.A game selling the amount GT sells is impressive no matter the fanbase of a console.the 100 million other people bought a PS2 for another games also.

Why the hell are you arguing proportions? Proportions mean nothing in sales. If more people bought the PS2 over the Xbox it's because the PS2 had more to offer - thus, you CANNOT say that Halo "outsold" GT by proportion.

Every single iteration of Gran Turismo to date has outsold Halo: CE by nearly 2:1. Halo 2 fared better with a much larger userbase, but at just over 9 million it is merely a competitor to the sales of GT, it neither blows it away nor does it fall behind.

This is coming from an objective lemming; if you're gonna attack a game on the Sony brand, Gran Turismo is the wrong one to go after. This game pretty much redefined the term "system seller" as we know it. As succesful as Halo has been, neither of it's iterations trump the legacy of GT (yet.)

rofl.. GT3 sold most of its sales within 2 years, PS2 didn't have a user base of even 120 million in 2 years.

Gran Turismo 3 came out 8 months (July 2001) after the PS2 lanuched in North America and Europe and ended up selling over 11 million copies. At the time, 15 million units have been shipped, so the attach rate was pretty good.

your so misinformed dude- GT3 appeared in the second year of PS2, apparently 12-15 months after (depending on region )- with a PS2 install base of less than 10 million consoles, however the game sold allot of software and hardware- and over the period of PS2 life continued to sell until the advent of GT4. GT3 sold over 10 million software and this wasn't due to the 120+ current install base of the PS2.- you need to shut you and go to your bed... sobbing

Gran Turismo 3 sold over 13 million copies worldwide. It was one of the highest selling games last-gen, outselling even Halo 2. If anything, the Gran Turismo franchise is a bigger system seller than Halo. :|

Period.

exactly with a ps3 and those numbers are impressive but not that impressive for a game on a 120 million+ console and in case u havent noticed gt4 sold fewer than all the others so interst sesms to be declining and i dnt get it how is oneracing game going to determine which console u choose i dnt get it inform me why

Your arguement makes no since GT3 sold most of sales around the time PS2 soldhit30 million, not to mention whether a fanbase of a console is 20 million or 120 million GT will still sell that amount,i never heard of a console selling a game,a game sells itself and consoles.A game selling the amount GT sells is impressive no matter the fanbase of a console.the 100 million other people bought a PS2 for another games also.

ive played gt and it wont sell the same on 20 mill its good butnot that good i mean if i want to play bumper cars ill go to an amusement parkput it on 360 and i guarantee u it will sell less than forza

So who cares what you think, causals and alot of hardcore people love it,GT has a soild fanbase that will buy a PS3 for GT,your opinion is not going to mean anything in the end and only makes you look bad arguing this.

ialready admitted self ownage can u read

Just go buy a PS3 instead of being jealous enough to make this thread.

Yup, and now that it has damage and real physics, it is gonna be a bigger system seller.

huh?

lol, what was confusing?...I was just saying that since GT5 is gonna have damage and more realistic physics, it may attract more racing fans to the series.

also note TC, GT3 was and is still considered as the first Billion doller game, its popularity has cemented the GT series as a billion doller franchise, after GT4 sales confirmed the series status. GT5 will be a billion doller game, even considering how much Sony will earn from DLC.
