GT5 will outsell Halo Reach before year end

Sony did confirm at GDC that GT5 will release this year and though the game has gone through many delays I am confident it will release fall 2010. MS has a sure fire mega hit with Halo Reach and without GT5 Sony really has nothing else that could go against the popular title. I know around here people like to think that no game will be able to outsell Halo Reach but if there is one it is definitely going to be GT5. I have seen some lame excuses flying about as to why GT5 will not to sell well or as well as the franchise used to but these are completely baseless claims, GT5 is as relevant today as it ever was. Think about it, Halo Reach is extremely popular in America, pretty popular in Europe and non-existent in Japan, the bulk of Reach's sales will be in America as apposed to GT5 where the sales will be spread out between the 3 territories, it will be major success in each one but of course it will do better in Europe.

Sony won't make the same mistake twice, they were defenceless when Halo 3 released but this time GT5 will give Halo a huge kick in the sales department and most likely with reviews as well. And I don't care they are completely different games :D Gamers will speak with their wallets but GT5 has another advantage, non-gamers will also buy GT like they always had :o GT5 will outsell GT3 !

EDIT: Also the fact that ODST pretty much sucked probably soured a lot of people, your average person would have thought it was a full blown game, and when they got it were disappointed, it could lose a few gamers.

Gran Turismo is a huge franchise. It holds the second and third place on the biggest selling games for the PS2 and has sold 44 million units worldwide(sourced from wikipedia). Considering that Halo has been going downhill even since 2(in my opinion), I believe it won't sell as much. 1zenron1

if a glorified demo can sell what 4-5 mil copies (prologue) a year ago. Then the full blown GT5 will easily sell at least double that at least, with more ps3s out there. Look for it to be bundled with ps3 slims too, and to have them sell quite a few systems as well. GT5 will prolly be the best system seller for the ps3 thus far. With that being said, I am not a racing simulator fan, and wont be getting this game

The problem is GT3 is the best seller GT game not GT4 (GT2 about 15 mils and GT4 about 11 mils) and when GT3 was released PS2 install base was lower than PS3 now.

Why do people keep saying GT5P is a demo? So you guys payed $40 for a demo? Do you even know what a demo is? It was advertised as a full game and the people who bought expected it to be one, but they realized how much of a ripoff it was after they played it. Right.....GT is hugeit sells by the tonload end of.Honestly GT is like Halo it will sell we seen it with prologue.Its seen as the flagship title of the PS franchise end of same as halo irrespective of install base it will sell millions.It wouldnt surprise me honestly if GT5 just clinched it.

the install base means didley squat when it comes to flagship games tbh especially ones like GT5 and Halo, as we seen with Halo 3 the 360 im sure had a smaller user base than the PS3 has right now and managed to shift over 10million copies.So that sonny just made your point rather muted.

let me put in this.my dad doesnt play games and plays his wii rarely yet last gen bought his own PS2 for Gran Turismo 4 so your point being? GT is a name which sells,casuals lap it up and have been since 1998 where it was one of those rare games that really took off because of word of mouth heck i never heard of it or seen an advertisement till my cousin came over and was like man you need to see this game.

If you compare the sales history of the two GT5 has won out more than lost; However that was back on PS2 days where Sony controlled a huge % of the market. I think there are a few upper echelon of games that can compete with sales figures. GT series, Halo Series, Modern Warfare series, Mario (main games), GTA series. mythrol

MGS 4 sold nearly the same as how much its PS2 prequels sold, GoW III is outpacing GoW II according to early reports. FFXIII selling at the same pace as FFXII (on PS3 alone)....

I also feel that their arent anywhere near the amount of racing games as there were last gen. So PS3 owners who have been waiting for a good racing sim will buy GT5 and people who havent bought a ps3 who like racing will likely buy a slim bundled with gt5. I really can see the game selling in the 12 million range after like 2 years

It seems like popular shooters are the games for non-gamers to get now a days, so reach may get a ton of sales from casuals who buy one shooter every year or just want the next popular thing.

But I'm pretty sure GT2 and 3were the best selling games period o their respective PS's. Only time will tell for sure though

I agree, GT definetely will sell very well in Japan, i expect around at least 1.5 million sold in japan alone in the first 24 hours. Halo will sell better in America i think.

With GT apart from Forza there is no racing simulator that could go near it and Forza still couldn't touch the sale fo the demo let alone a full GT game. No racer has achieved GT like sale while many shooters have achieved Halo like sales, ok not many but COD has.
