GT5 will outsell Halo Reach before year end

halo 3 still sold twice or close to 3 times more then any PS3 exclusive

reach is the biggest jump in the series yet, if h3 can do 12 mill this should do more(which is gonna be hard for GT5 to beat)

If they both have the same release window then it will be close. If any PS3 game can outsell Halo or Mario it's GT5.

But who plays sales anyway? Both will be masterpieces.

I highly doubt it. I know GT is popular, but Halo Reach will still outsell it this year.

but odst had much more promotion than GT5P. I dont think I would have even known of that games existence if I didnt post on the gamespot boards. I expect GT5 to get alot more marketing than GT5P. But with that said there will inevitably be Reach Mountain Dew, commercials 24/7, tractor trailers painted with spartans, airplanes pulling banners with the Halo logo. In the end I think it will be close but I have to give the edge to GT5 because the Japanese and esp the euro market will drool all over the game, and the US numbers wont be too shabby either.

Edit: Nor did I say Reach would have support for Natal, I was stating that Microsoft was trying to pull big numbers this year which in term would help Reach's sales by having a (possibly) cheaper consoles and (what Microsoft is to believe) a major system seller before Reach.

It's obviously going to sell a ton and is definetly a killer app, but if Reach is released first (and if GT5 sees 2010 at all) the chances of this happening are slim.

GT5 won't sell as many copies as Halo: Reach. GT5 Prologue sold about 4+ million and got luke warm reviews. GT5 will probably sell 5-6 million. It won't sell as many in the U.S. as it will in U.K. I except Halo: Reach will break 8 million before the year it out and then break 10-11 million next year. GT5 won't reach those numbers (no pun intended).

No it won't, maybe in the next 3 years it might take over but this year (at launch) Reach will destroy anything in sales...including GT5. You should know that all Halo games have monster launch events.

It's possible. GT is a huge franchise, but so is Halo. We can speculate, but the final numbers will speak for themselves.

Both games are going to be giant sellers...history has shown bothfranchisies can move units..

But to compare an over staurated FPS genre to the there are only 2 other games for the PS3 Simcade genre is a joke...

Off course it can .......... GT5 is big around the world. Even in JPn 1 million mark is easy for this game. Did all Halo series sales even reach 200 k in Jpn ?

Plus GT5 will include Nascar and WRC. Nascar is popular in USA while WRC also pretty popular in Europe.

Sony did confirm at GDC that GT5 will release this year and though the game has gone through many delays I am confident it will release fall 2010. MS has a sure fire mega hit with Halo Reach and without GT5 Sony really has nothing else that could go against the popular title. I know around here people like to think that no game will be able to outsell Halo Reach but if there is one it is definitely going to be GT5. I have seen some lame excuses flying about as to why GT5 will not to sell well or as well as the franchise used to but these are completely baseless claims, GT5 is as relevant today as it ever was. Think about it, Halo Reach is extremely popular in America, pretty popular in Europe and non-existent in Japan, the bulk of Reach's sales will be in America as apposed to GT5 where the sales will be spread out between the 3 territories, it will be major success in each one but of course it will do better in Europe.

Sony won't make the same mistake twice, they were defenceless when Halo 3 released but this time GT5 will give Halo a huge kick in the sales department and most likely with reviews as well. And I don't care they are completely different games :D Gamers will speak with their wallets but GT5 has another advantage, non-gamers will also buy GT like they always had :o GT5 will outsell GT3 !
