You could still word it better IMO. :P
I doubt a lot of people well be considering the expansion when they go out to buy GTA4. Yeah, the expansion does make the 360 version more desirable, but it won't stop people from buying the PS3 version.
I make 1 fanboy post a year, I can't help myself :P
I didn't mention sales. I have no doubt the sales will be strong on both. I'm merely talking about the quality of experience here. The 360 version of Grand Theft Auto 4 will be the definitive version for those that want to play it. That's all I'm saying.
Since it's your annual fanboy post I guess it's cool then.
Seriously though, I see where your coming from. With the expansion pack, the 360 is looking to be the more desirable of the two version. These expansion though seem to appeal more to the hardcore fans than just the casuals.
i have a feeling this DLC will be worthless and alot of lems will be dissapointend...Im gunna pick up the ps3 version because apparently it has better graphics, AA etc.blazinpuertoroc
You've gotta read the link my man...
dude...just give up, xbox 360 is going down, there is nothing you can do to bring it back up, i told you and all your fanboys that ps3 will start owning in 08 but you didnt think that and so now by saying gta 4 on ps3 sucks is just waste of time, its not going to effect the ps3.
its so obvious you made this thread to let down the ps3. but trust me its not.
alll the gta games were better on ps2 and they will stay better on ps3

I mean seriously, why even have it? I know this has been posted before, but people forget what has been said by Microsoft about what exactly it is they paid for:
Link
The entire Grand Theft Auto 4 retail game cost less than the amount of money Microsoft paid to finance and secure DLC for the 360 version.
MS paid $50,000,000...that is no small bit of change.
From their Blogger Breakfast, where people questioned Chris Satchell, Aaron Greenburg, and John Schappert:
[QUOTE="Microsoft"]
GTAIV DLC
- When MS says exclusive, they mean that no other system can have DLC content for GTAIV
- It will be bigger than a lot of people think. GTA3 Vice City and San Andreas were basically expansions of GTA3. Think of the DLC that way. We are talking major expansion for GTAIV
- No price has been discussed yet. It's up to Rockstar on whether or not they will charge for it
- If successful, DLC may be the new way to deliver GTA expansions TheSystemLord1
The two I have in bold are the reason that the PS3 version is useless. We are talking Vice City and San Andreas-esque content that Microsoft has no pricing plan for right now. Confirmed. Its been said, black and white, as of right now the content is free and its huge.
So why even buy the PS3 version? You won't be getting the GTA4: Vice City, or the GTA4: San Andreas. You might get some side missions, and maybe a few extra cars. If you have the option of getting it for the 360 why wouldn't you? Deep down do you really believe that Microsoft paid $50,000,000 for a few side missions?
Get real, there is no debate as to which version of GTA4 is the best.
So how pointless is this post, let's point it out. Rockstar has sold more GTA games that any other franchise ever, period, and that as a timed ps2 exclusive. Thus, for Rockstar to not release the game on the ps3, which, like it or not, is a big reason a bunch of people decided to go with the ps3 last year, would be one of the dumbest moves in marketing, ever.
And, the TC says that the dlc is free, uh huh, right. Obviously someone wasn't paying attention last year when the 50 million bucks was paid to Take Two. If you read this link, you will see that Rockstar has to make at least 50 million for Microsoft with the dlc, or guess what, Take Two has to pay the money back to them. If you give away the dlc, you don't make any money, which of course garantees that Take Two will have to pay the fifty million back to microsoft, and if you believe that they are gonna do that, well, lets just say you are very gullible.
Now, I will not say that it is not unfortunate that the dlc isn't coming to the ps3. No, it stinks cause I'm not buying another console just for GTA dlc. But that doesn't make the actions of Rockstar or Take Two in putting the game on the ps3 pointless.
According to the TC: both versions will be "gimped"
The DLC isn't coming till 4- 6 months afterwards. I guess 360 owners will have to "just wait" No body knows what it is. The cows and Lemmings need to calm down on this.
I don't see what the big fuss is now that I think about it. O well, PS3 owners, MGS 4 is only a month away after GTA 4. Play that
I know I will have a productive summer 8)
I hope everyone else does too.
Happy gaming and let this dieeee

That's nice. Unfortunately, nobody from Microsoft said anything like what you bolded. Here is the audio from that bloggers breakfast. The GTA talk starts at a little after 52 min. (but it's all worth listening to). They never commented on size of the content and they never commented on pricing. What is up to Rockstar is if it will be available at retail as well as download. These are just things made up / assumed by a blogger.
i have a feeling this DLC will be worthless and alot of lems will be dissapointend...Im gunna pick up the ps3 version because apparently it has better graphics, AA etc.blazinpuertoroc
LMAO damage Control. Sure the Ps3 has better graphics since the lead platform for GTA: IV is the 360.

I dont think it was ever OFFICALLY confirmed by R* that the 360 was the lead SKU. Give me One link that has them the Exact Phrase" 360 was teh lead SKU"

Actually GTA4 coming on April 29 is pretty awesome because its my 360's one year anniversary! To date only 1 freeze up! I might buy it a cake...
Just wait till Sony gets some. Sony and R* have been best buds for life, I honestly can't see Sony not getting any love-Sniper99-
Yeah right.....don't fool yourself, companies(R* included) like money and the only reason they made GTA 3(and VC/SA) timed exclusives because sony paid them and thts the reason why the DLC will also be 360 exclusive(not timed exclusives), face it cows you will never see the 360 exclusive DLC, other DLC maybe, but not the 360 exclusive DLC.
Now that I think about it, it's sad with all of that money being thrown around to slightly extend the lenght of a game when it could have gone to such a better cause in the world.Baird-06
Slightly? did you read TCs post?

You have to pay for the DLC so I think the Lemmings have been owned. That is totally subjective. You dont know how important the DLC will be untill it's released and take two will not release full games as a download only. Ever.ShazenabExcept they were paid an obscene amount of money to release it as just DLC...
They'll hold to the agreement. Think logically. Now, I am not saying that the core game of GTA4 will be any worse on PS3, however the content will be severly lacking when it starts stacking up against a bunch of 360 exclusive additions. Everyone is underestimating the role this content will play, look at the sum Microsoft paid, they wouldn't have wasted that on a gamble. Just look at the situation, and it's pretty clear what's going to happen...
[QUOTE="Khansoul"]You have to pay for the DLC so I think the Lemmings have been owned.dhjohns
So an option to have dlc is getting owned?.
apparently lol.
wait until the cows get owned by all those optional home downloads. ownage to the max x100000000!!!!1!!

For all you know, Rockstart might deliver the extra content on disc to get around the entire problematic exclusive DLC, they want to make money you know :P If they can get away with it, they probably would.
I dont care cus ill be getting the 360 version anyways... But your wrong about ms paying 50M... they diden't pay them... it was a loan. They have to pay that back. It was a deal under the assumption that the content will make the money back. dudy80
I did not know that, so they ARE going to make it as huge as San Andreas after all
[QUOTE="Jared2720"]The PS3 version is useless. Right. What a terrible thread.TheSystemLord1
Did you simply read the title and none of the thread? Microsoft paid for Vice City/San Andreas, what gamer in their right mind would pass that up.
Opinion and not fact, may remind you that the quote was from a Microsoft employee, Rockstar have said nothing on the matter. Besides San Andreas was like 6 gig, put onto a more modern high spec engine that will easily bloat to 8 or so gig. All i can say is you better start upgrading you HDD, and getting a new internet connection if you expect that to be downloaded easily.
That is totally subjective. You dont know how important the DLC will be untill it's released and take two will not release full games as a download only. Ever.Shazenab
Says who? If they can sell a large expansion for 20 dollars or more on digital distribution why wouldn't they?

Rockstar knows that people will pay for it. Why would they charge for free when they could make so much more money?
True. But the entire project has been paid in full. So unless they want to piss off their customers why would they charge anything but a small fee for it?
Let me ask you this, if Rockstar charges 400 Microsoft points (roughly...$4-$5 I believe) for basically a new GTA with the GTA 4 engine would you be pissed?
I think you're buying into the hype of the size of the DLC too much. Just wait and see, until then stop the useless thread.
did u even read the TC post??? its like guys just read the title of the thread n clicked add message.

I'm not making my own opinions off of any of this. I'm merely evidencing that Microsoft knows what it paid for and to recieve much (if anything) less would end up in one heated legal battle.
Microsoft execs claim Vice City/San Andreas-esque content = What I expect.

SO M$ hires Rockstar to Develop this Content, Yet Its Rockstar that Will determine what they'll charge for it?
Doesn't Add up. If M$ pays 50 Million then its theirs, Not Rockstars
People contnue to post in this thread? this is one of the most arrognats threads In SW history :\
Let me break it down for you, why GTA4 on PS3 is necessary ;)
> Rockstar are a business. Releasing there game On a system with 10.5 Million consumers, which is rapidly increasing. (PS3 sold more than 360 in 2007 )
> The games are going to be identicle, Rockstar delayed the game on both formats to have it polished on both systems.
> there talk of Multi-platform DLC, not just 360 DLC, which microsoft paid 50 million for.....how much do you think your going to have to paty for this lemmings?
> GTA belongs on the playstation, a little logic might have it that PS2 owners adopting PS3 is going to increase with games release.
GTA on PS3 necessity sealed. /thread.
I thought the expansion was first described to "add hours of gameplay" which sounded pretty general and within the range of 4 - 6 hours. -theCHUD-
and how in the bejeebus do you get "4 to 6 hours" from "add hours of gameplay." that could be ANYTHING! damn you actually wrote an ENTIRE paragraph based on that momentus failure of logic. congratulations.

So are you saying Vice City and San Andreas were free? If they were to release expansions as stand alone games they would be free? If Rockstar is making alot of new content for the DLC why wouldn't it cost money?

no idea what you're talking about here
> The games are going to be identicle, Rockstar delayed the game on both formats to have it polished on both systems.
yet it was known that the game was delayed from its original release date BECAUSE of the ps3
> there talk of Multi-platform DLC, not just 360 DLC, which microsoft paid 50 million for.....how much do you think your going to have to paty for this lemmings?
yeah, there will be multiplat DLC, but its not gonna be something nowhere near as big as the DLC for 360. and dont forget that whatever DLC ps3 gets, the 360 will get as well.
> GTA belongs on the playstation, a little logic might have it that PS2 owners adopting PS3 is going to increase with games release.
how is that logic?

You & Microsoft themselves are over-estimating how many people actually care about this content esp. since not much is even known about it. The main game is eactly the same on both consoles and thats all that matters in the big scheme of things. GTA fans will eat up this DLC but I doubt every single casuals will be foaming at the mouth for this and it's coming 4-6 months later with the second pack next year.FlamestosQFT. casuals simply don't care. I don't care; I won't be getting this game, but mostly casuals seriously won't care.
