ITS A HUGE FREE ROAMING WORLD.
The walls are not going to have quality textures in this huge world, it would take up so much time, and be needless
trasherhead
Crysis is also a huge free roaming world..
Yet fanboys only try too compare small claustrophbic games too it.
I say we should compare Crysis too GTA 4. Thats the most fair comparison too crysis there is.
No. Crysis loads up levels. GTA loads up the entier city for you so you don't have to load ingame... EVER.
Actually they are increadably different.Crysis's worlds have MUCH higher texture resolutions, object physics ect, dont forget the poly count in Crysis is also much higher, and the lighting far more advanced.
GTA4 is a 3rd person action game, it doesent need anywhere near as high textures, character and object poly count is far less, knowhere as much physics involved ect. ect.
Thus its much easier to stream GTAs data on the fly, as there isnt nearly as much of a crunch of data just for the enviroment. However Crysis's load times are pretty damn fast too.

Don't be silly, Crysis is not a free roaming world, it's made of levels you know? And it isn't fair comparing a Jungle to an Urban setting, where there are pedestrians, houses, billboards, and all things you can imagine. Besides GTA IV has no loading times.
I think the insane amount of foliage and detail>peds, houses etc. also remember when hermits were saying you could go anywhere you want on crysis's island at anytimeblu-ray doesn't mean better graphics idiot! thats the graphics card, in which 360 > ps3IamNotReal_
you could have left that one word out, but yeah.. it's not smart...
It's not WHERE and HOW the textures are stored, it's how they are handled once they are loaded when the game is running.

If previous GTAs and more recent sandboxers are any indication, there will probably be a common loading point...mission triggers.man, its funny how low cows will stoop. they're all up in arms about the great extra DLC for the 360 so they decide to just attack the game - it's like the little whining child that says he hates something just because he can't have it. :P3picuri3
lol, it's amazing what jealous cows would do

Crysis had more ram and gpu power to work worth. ps3 and 360 only have what 512mbs of ram so obvioulsy they have less textures especially considering it's a sandbox game. you can't compare PC games and console games like this two completely different types of technology. GTA4 is pretty impressive considering what is has to work withPlus GTA's gameplay is actually more demanding. GTA style game on Cryengine with high settings wouldnt be playable at all on even the best current gpu's.
Its also common knowledge that pc gpu's similar to the consoles can barely run Crysis.

Having no loads makes the game much more demanding.
Is this due to the fact that Liberty City is a lot more active than the setting for Crysis (you know, more people, vehicles, buildings, animated elements, etc.)?Plus GTA's gameplay is actually more demanding. GTA style game on Cryengine with high settings wouldnt be playable at all on even the best current gpu's.

Not arguing with you there. Scarface was the same way, though you are right that GTA4's indoors (not to mention its outdoors) will be significantly more detailed and thus more challenging to transition seamlessly, though I would expect the system used to do this will be very similar (what I would call a radial caching system). The only loading screens should occur, like I said, when you trigger a mission, since these are pretty unpredictable and will involve the loading of all the mission-specific elements into the cityscape. But that doesnt help performance. You can drive around the entire map and go indoors without a load.
Having no loads makes the game much more demanding.

I dont care as much about the enviroments because that has to do with the huge area and all that without loading is impressive enough. For me its the main character models, although they are miles ahead of the previous 3 gtas they are still behind where the ps3 particularly has already been. It by no means will deter me from buying GTAIV but I expected alittle more from those this time around because, to me, thats what makes the game as a whole more real, the character models.TYLERxDURDENYou gotta realize, though, that there's a lot more going on. It probably has to deal with more things simultaneously than any PS3 game that can boast better look. I'm pretty sure Rockstar North is trying their darndest to make good-looking character models, but they still have a memory budget.

I'd be willing to bet that one crysis level is at least half as big as the GTA world. I am proabably wrong though.
Anyways, look at Oblivion. That game had a humongous game world and for the time, the graphics were top notch. GTA, however big it is, has never had good graphics for their time.

Yes, because we all know every Crysis level is empty space. There are hundreds of trees, thousands of shrubberies, grassy areas, oceans, rivers, coves, hills, and mountains being rendered in every level. I bet you haven't ever played Crysis.
Have any of you actually thought that these are actually Rockstar's style of graphics? Being a game programmer myself I know that each individual has there own style. Look at the 3D Grand Theft Auto games alongside other such titles created by Rockstar such as Bully and Manhunt. Recognise anything? Oh look! The style of graphics are the same! There style of ARTWORK has nothing to do with "pushing the boundaries of next-gen hardware". The amount of polygons are more or less the same as games such as Halo.
This argument is like argumenting box art. Take a look at the box art for San Andreas and Bully and then the box art for Metal Gear solid. Rockstar have used cel shading whereas Konami have used a more brushed effect. It is all to do with the style of the creator.
Please don't create such pathetic threads. I have seen ones such as this on multiple forums.
Thank you

Pathetic, first of all it would look the same on both systems, its a HUGE game, who cares about textures on walls of buildings, yes, get a life.
Also, the lemmings on the first pages make no sense bashing MGS4 with a bad texture pic, then turn around and tell the TC he has no life.
More blur. Look at the wall. Oh, and the general crappyness of the graphics.

I hope youre not a wii-fan talking about crappy graphics.

Compare Crysis with GTA4? And its fair?? .... Youre joking right?
If GTA4's quality was THAT high , as Crysis , with soooo many buildings , vehicles , ppl around the streets , even helicopters and everything GTA4 has ingame (total free roaming game) this game would be only on a 50GB blu-ray disc. And ofcourse would be ONLY A high-end PC exclusive.
Think before you talk plz.
This game uses apost-processing filter giving everything a pastel or painted look. It's part art style and part an attempt at making up for technical shortcomings such as draw distance. The further away an object is, the more pronounced the effect appears to be. Anyway, that's the reason they look "blurry".
Edit: Real noticable here.
