Edit: If for some reason GTA6 introduced a female MC for once in the series and is done well of course, I'll gladly take notice and its probably the only thing that will make me care about this series again.

If it’s timed exclusive and a marketing rights exclusive, that would make even more sense. If every GTA6 ad only mentions PS5, that would be big. GTA sales are insane. $750 mil sounds like a lot of money. But a marketing deal paired with a timed exclusive deal would sell millions of consoles. This is a much smarter move than Xbox paying Ninja and Shroud $100 mil to stream Fortnite and COD for a couple of months.

That's a hell of a lot of money. No idea on the maths, but if it's coming between launch and Christmas, it's conceivable that talks are underway. No, strike that... given Sony's approach, talks are definitely underway. Good way to build that early adoption momentum, but damn... that's crazy money, especially for one month.

Who knows if it's true or not? What is definitely true is that 3rd party games are the most important games in gaming and worth a lot of money. 750 million for 30 days, I don't know.

The game I am most looking forward to is always a 3rd party game. I bet that is true for the vast majority of gamers. For me right now that game is Cyberpunk 2077.

Yeah... I'm with some of the others on this. What the hell will a single month do? A year? Hell... a quarter even... but a single month? That's a severe waste of money.

Then on top of that, anti-consumer. Sorry, but I'm against any third party game being exclusive to any platform when the IP has been multiplatform in the past. It fractures the fan base.

$750 million is a ton of money. But that amount can be covered by selling 12.5 million full-price software copies at $60 each. And that's without even including the PS5 hardware sales, with GTA6 potentially being a killer app for the PS5. The deal could potentially help generate billions for Sony.

if 6 is a next gen only title i.e. no ps4 or xbox one version, then there's little chance of a repeat of last time's sales, when they were selling to a fully established 360/ps3 userbase with around ~77m consoles sold for each platform.

if there's no this gen version then an exclusivity deal, even at that price, may be of some interest to r* and sony. even 30 days would likely help sell a lot of ps5s. and the closer to console launch the better to help push sony into an early lead sales wise.

but given r*'s love of encouraging gamers to double dip, there's a chance there'll still be a ps4/xone version, and a far far better chance that this is almost certainly bollocks

The purpose of a killer app is to grow the install base. If GTA6 can help shift 10 million PS5 units in a month, then the $750M that Sony spent would be worth it.

A month wouldn't really do much but a single holiday season would be huge. That would move a ton of consoles.

There is just about no way in hell SONY would dish out three quarters of a billion dollars for one month exclusivity, I would even doubt 3. Now, I would believe timed exclusivity or exclusive deals on other in game items.

They could produce 5-10 high quality exclusive games for that price and that's nearly 3 times the price GTA 5 took to produce although I do understand the game prints money for whatever reason...

If they were going to go that route then they might as well just make a new studio and make their own game like GTA only better. Just add an online mode with a ton of mtx and voila.

They can make 15 games, each costing 50 million for that I kind of money. Sony is not foolish when it comes to the PlayStation brand. I am not sure why anyone would believe this.

Yeah, that's true that they could make 15 for 50 million each. Getting titles like HZD would be fine with me. We wouldn't get any Spiderman/TLOU type games, but I didn't want those anyways..

I wish that SONY would shorten their budget on games and start releasing more games in the sub $50 million region (more like 20-40. Not only would we get more games, but they would also likely have shorter dev. cycles if SONY allocated the resources properly.

I'm cool with Abby but she was executed poorly. I mean, look at Saints Row, at least they know how to make a badass female when at least Rockstars could try. All I'm saying, GTA6 should continue using 3 characters but make one of them a female MC, the rest 2 guys.
