A more critical review of G*y Tony, courtesy of Giant Bomb!

i thought it was the second coming of jesus. An expansion that made it clear you dont need multiple good games in 2009 for lems to exist:shock:
But they gave GTA4 a perfect score :| SAGE_OF_FIREYeah but as he pointed out in the review which I am sure you have read, time has moved on. GTA IV is aging quickly apparently.
They are basically "old" gamespot. Why is every one referring to Giant Bomb reviews all of a sudden?Just heard about them recently.

Giant Bomb is fairly well known, especially since one of them i believe is ex GS staffcongrats. you found a bad review at the very bottom of the internet well.

Because they're mostly ex-gamespot reviewers. Why is every one referring to Giant Bomb reviews all of a sudden?Just heard about them recently.

"open-world games have been refined and improved since the original release of Grand Theft Auto IV." Uhh...Prototype and Infamous? If I remember correctly, both those games had the same complaints as people have for every single open world game ever.II-FBIsniper-IIRed faction:G, Lost and Damned, Fallout 3, Far cry 2, Brutal Legend all came after GTAIV as well.
Really? I thought BoGT was absolutely amazing and by far was the best thing to come out of GTA4C-LeeI agree with you. I loved both TLAD and BoGT. I actually liked the story and missions in BoGT the best, and the multiplayer is better also. Base Jumping is freaking crazy!!
As much as I love Giant Bomb.(and their Bombcast. The only good video game podcast left. R.I.P Listen up) I almost always disagree with their reviews. They gave both Fallout 3 and Borderlands 4/5. And now they give this a 3/5. Oh well, it's just their opinion. I'm still enjoying it. And i personally dont think Gta 4 has aged that badly. But that may have something to do with me playing it regularly.

Yeah, Giant Bomb is mostly the best of Gamespot's old review team. :|congrats. you found a bad review at the very bottom of the internet well.

Giantbomb isn't exactly an obscure website.
But yeah, one slightly negative review in a sea of critical acclaim isn't much.
Without strong characters or story to rely on, The Ballad of Gay Tony highlights the ways in which open-world games have been refined and improved since the original release of Grand Theft Auto IV.
Let's be honest, this guy has been off his rocker for the past month or two.
First he gave Brutal Legend a 3, now he gives BGOT a 3 for not having strong characters or story? Is he joking! This expansion has some of the best characters in the GTA 4 lifeline.
I'm getting sick of this guy.

I agree. The story and characters were more interesting than GTA4 and TLOD.[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]But they gave GTA4 a perfect score :| biggest_loserYeah but as he pointed out in the review which I am sure you have read, time has moved on. GTA IV is aging quickly apparently.
Indeed it is. Hell, it looked aged to me back when overrated sites were giving it 10s.
I love Giant Bomb and Ryan Davis, but fail on this review. It's almost as bad as the 3/5 score for Blazblue. So out of the norm. Then again, Ryan wasn't a huge GTA IV fan.
[QUOTE="dercoo"]they just as valid and credible as any other site imo.Why is every one referring to Giant Bomb reviews all of a sudden?Just heard about them recently.
dog_dirt
Agreed, as I've always said. Hell, a user review on Amazon.com is just as valid as a review from Gamespot or IGN or some random blog.

Yeah, Giant Bomb is mostly the best of Gamespot's old review team. :| Greg Kasavin is at giantbomb? I never really liked Gerstmannlems on damage control is so funny.
ropumar
Damage control? The game scored AAA here. If you weren't aware, only Gamespot matters for exclusive game praising and bashing when it comes to scores.

Only a 91 at metacritic though:

And everyone knows Gamespot inflates scores for games that advertise heavily on its site.

Only 9.1? Since when is 9.1 worthy of a word such as "only?" Sorry that every game cant score as well as, oh I don't know, GTAIV itself. And he is right, for the record, only Gamespot scores count here in System Wars[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]But they gave GTA4 a perfect score :| biggest_loserYeah but as he pointed out in the review which I am sure you have read, time has moved on. Bs (wow gamespot,do you have to censor that?).GTA IV is still by far my best game this generation. Sure the gameplay may have a few problems which you won't find in polished games like Uncharted 2 but what I absolutely love about it is the atmosphere, the story, the characters, the variety, the city. It's amazing. Other people might not feel like me but I've grown up in a place where I know people who are connected with the mafia and I'm very interested in that kind of story so for me, it's a brilliant game. I completed TLAD and loved it. I'm most definately going to buy Ballad of Gay Tony, and I can't wait.

Um, that's the PC version that got a 91, and even that version can't measure up to Uncharted 2's metascore.
I guess only the very highest rated games ever are worth playing?Um, that's the PC version that got a 91, and even that version can't measure up to Uncharted 2's metascore.

Since when were we talking about Dragon Age :? Also, Uncharted 2 and Dragon Age (or even GTAIV for that matter) are two completely different games. But going by your logic, we should only be playing Orcarina of Time because it is the best reviewed game of all time. Or, did I miss something in your "logic?"

So what? Do you seriously think we should only play games that get 9.5 or over now?
To be honest, reviews help my purchasing decision but they don't decide it. Mirror's Edge is one of my favourite games this gen and it didn't get amazing reviews. Go figure.
