A Multiplat looks worse than a 360 exclusive that uses DVD9.

As many many many many people have stated Rockstar have never bragged about the graphical quality of the GTA games.

GTA 4 looks horrible when in comparison to Burnout Paradise and Assassin's Creed. It looks very jaggily and just outright bad IMO.nikolajz1

you have to render around 1 million triangles in a massive draw distance, both gpus can call around 3 million triangles per seccond WITHOUT loading textures and the like.

I've never liked GTA for it's graphics. I like it for the large environment and the sandbox gameplay. As long as Rockstar delivers on that I don't care if it looks like a PS2 game. Graphics this Gen are frigging ridiculous anyways. All of the top of the line visuals are jacking up cost and development time and I personally don't think it's worth it.

Things we learned from Hydrolex this thread: GTAIV is both possible on the PS2 and being held back by the Xbox 360.

It looks awesome for a sandbox game.

When you have the game full of moving traffic, people walking, huge cities, physics, AI, etc. Then of course you will take some hits in the graphics department.

Why does Bioshock, Gears, Uncharted look so good? They are all not running on very complex engines like a sandbox game that GTA 4 uses.

Best looking GTA so far and you are complaining? And have the nerve to say it could be done on PS2?

hmmmm am i the only here that thinks that"beach machine" screen is fake, cause i havent seen THAT screen shot anywhere before... it kinda looks like a MOD for one of the othe PC GTA games.... this might be me...

Also GTAIV looks fantatstic.

So your saying its just a coincidence that the types of games that get the most complaints about optimization are sandbox style?

Its not that this style of game is more demanding its just that sandbox game devs are lazy or rush their product?

HL2 is hailed by many as being so well optimized. Its got the smallest levels I've ever seen in a game. Just a coincidence right?

Rockstar has more money to throw into GTA4 than the devs of the games I mentioned combined. Why cant they get the gameworld running well with Gears of War level graphics?

Whaaa!?!!? a GTA game withought completely top of the line graphics?!?! You just blew my mind. Like my skull is still intact, but my brain is just splattered on the inside (props to anyone who can guess exactly what I'm referencing).

And for the record, as an open world game, it has quite good graphics.

ok guys lets finish the fight between which version will look better. GTA IV graphix could be done on the PS2, GTA IV is a flop graphicly especially when Rockstar is admitting it. They remove all bad looking pictures and all bad looking videos from blogs and other websites. the only thing Rockstar is using from the next gen is the RAM. more traffics and better europhia. Well, If you guys think GTA series were never about graphix go and play Mario. This is the new gen and we want BETTER GRAPHIX !

It's a sandbox game. The 360/PS3 won't be pumping out visuals much better than this with any sandbox games, and remain technically sound at the same time.
