That is the major problem with Gamerankings, it doesn't really take into account the number of reviews. 31 reviewers gave the 360 GTA a 100%. Zelda: OoT only has 32 reviews.
I agree.

how can an average be a problem? who's to say that if another 30 reviews were added to Zelda, that it still wouldn't have averaged what it did? if the 360 version had 14 more reviews than the PS3 version, those 14 extra reviews could have swung the average either way.
this is a weird forum, everyone wants to explain things in a way that looks good for them.
if someone says the 360 version outsold the PS3 version, then someone will say "so what the PS3 version has a higher attach rate"
I don't think anyone can win in this forum, you guys are all better than the marketing team at Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo combined.
Me, I own the 360 version and I don't personally care what score it got compared to the PS3 version, we both got one of the greatest games ever, well at least for me. So lets just enjoy the damn game, if anything we should be picking on the people who don't have the game instead of arguing with each other, especially if its not going to accomplish anything.
Legend_C4A says, "less crying, more game playing!"
Jay Im not trying to insult you really. I used to love the movie too. I thought it was incredible. But then I grew up and realized that it was less a good movie and more just a shockfest. The Godfather, Goodfellas, Heat, and The Departed are really just better movies. I will agree with you that GTA4 is an incredible game though. I think it captures the aura of gangster lifestyle and swagger to a tee, and thats really what I think sets it apart right now. Its presentation is impeccable.h575309I don't understand why you would even compare Scarface to any of the movies you listed. It's nothing like them. Scarface has nothing to do with the mob, or robbing banks. It's a drug dealer movie, and should be compared to other drug dealer movies, not mob flicks. If you're going to make comparisons, Paid in Full or New Jack City would be a good place to start.

Who cares. The scores will probably change once the DL content gets released in the fall.
What...no it own't. Most don't rerate games, and Gamerankings don't count rerating. Some might rate the DLC (IGN etc.) but most won't.

I meant that I'm surprised that it actually got 8.5 and 8.7 for a rating. Hmm...but some of the "flaws" they listed are based on skill, not for everyone.[QUOTE="BearEatsMan"][QUOTE="Chaos_HL21"][QUOTE="JayPee89"]Only because of the amount of reviews. Yeah, because they were the first reviews to come in... Why not take the lower 32 reviews that GTA got and then compare it to Zelda.
Sorry, we are comparing a 1998 game to a 2008 game. There weren't as many legit reviewers back then, and therefore OoTs not going to have as many scores.
And there is no rule that says "More reviews = lower rating." Again, what if some of the lower reviews, like gamecritics, were the first to come in, and then the massive wave of 100%s came in after 32 people had reviewed, everyone would be saying "thank god for more reviews."
That what the problem is, and no game will ever keep OoT off the number 1 spot because of it. If it is the same number of reivews back when OoT came out as today OoT would be no where near the top of the list (not saying it is a bad game)
You completely missed his point. I too have always wondered why so many people seem to assume more review equals a lower average. That makes no sense whatsover. Who's to say more OOT reviews wouldn't net an even higher average? What if there were a couple reviewers that hated the game, while everyone else loved it. If the 2 that hated it are already in the average, then more reviews would raise the average even higher.
Do they still teach statistics in schools these days?

more reviews is a lower ranking, as its a wider source and thus a wider average must be obtained.

The 360 has more reviews, so once the PS3 gets the same ones it will be the same score.

What?
So if I samples the age of 1,000,000 and then samples the age of 1,000 people, the average age of the 1,000,000 is guaranteed to be less?
More reviews means a more accurate average, not necessarily a lower average.

i think theyre trying to say that the more reviewers there are, the higher the odds of getting a reviewer who rates it less than 98%, which would obviously bring the score down.

That's about right. I feel like the only reason I still play it is because I wasted $60 on it and it has to be fun eventually since it scored so high. The lack of a checkpoint on missions really takes the fun out of it. (unless it's a brucie mission then you get to hear him talk again...making me laugh).

woo. bye bye GTA4. also most of you seem to be missing the point that Oot got a 10 because it was so hard to find flaws in it. not because it was teh pwnz. todays games will never surpass it as standards get higher and as games get ore complex more flaws appear.crunchUK

Well then the game would be too easy and boring as well. But punishing someone to go back and do a bunch of easy stuff just to get to the challenge is stupid and 1980 gaming concepts. It's not like the game is FUN the whole way through, but to make it longer they added a bunch of filler.
And then after a mision I get 1 or 2 calls asking me to entertain them. WTF!? It's not like the pool is fun to play on this game or the darts are easier then watching the ingame TV. WHY! do I have to do this crap just to get a mission. same with the internet. Go to TW@ (funny name...I'll give them that)...get mission. Do mission (if you fail...go back to tw@ and do all over again). Wow fun...not. If I fail the race just make me do the race again not drive all the way to tw@ then to Brucie....then to the car....THEN i get to race.
I don't like how two of the same game, except on different platforms are on the list. RE4 got knocked off!jjr10I agree why not include it all as one if it is the same game, I liked it when Zelda, Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime were the top 3 and they might return to the top three since some games above them will get more reviews.

With GTAiv it would make sense, but really it would ruin the system overall. For example: oblivion was released on PS3 a lot later than it was out for PC and 360...so the scores it receives would already be lower just because of the wait and tech/gaming has moved past that point. Or if one system has a stable/good version and the other is buggy (orange box for example). It's not fair to ding OB on the 360 because the PS3 version wasn't very good.

I can see the point there but what if it was a game released on the same day because the Orange Box for the 360 and PC launched the same day but the PS3 version launched a month later, then the PC retail version launched in March or April.[QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]so is the PS3 version actually better or not?

What if the PS3 version of this game was like many of the other multiplats and scored a solid 1 or 2 points below teh 360 version. Is it fair to put the games in the same category? The fact that GTAiv is so close in quality between the two makes it easy for one to think they should be combined, but GTAiv is the exception not the norm for multplats.
It's really a toss up.I haven't decided which I like better either. Achievements don't really matter to me (I do like them though) and the perfomance is really negligible. I like the colors a little better on the PS3, but I wouldn't quantify that as the PS3 being the "better" version...so is the PS3 version actually better or not?

What? There is no way that games like Gears or Uncharted are better than GTA in an overall sense. GTA IV is epic, and the main story is one of the better ones in gaming.
Keep telling yourself, but it wont make it true.
It's the best GTA story so far, but nowhere near the better story in gaming.
