HL2 is a much better game either way.

Haloinventedfps is a joke, back in the day Xbox kids actually thought Halo invented fps, most people should know this...
Uncharted 3, and yes I can post my Steam Library showing I have Half-Life 2, but since I only have HL2 and EP1, I must be a consolite, so I won't bother right? Yes I do have Uncharted 3, and even the second one, so therefore I'm a consolite right?
Should mention I haven't beaten either of the games though (Uncharted 2 and 3). I actually spend more time on my PC now over my 360 or PS3 because I just built a new one, but I guess I'm a consolite. Just wanted to clarify all of that just in case you still decide to label me (and many others in here who aren't) a consolite.
This is a joke. Uncharted 3 isn't leaps and bounds better, but overall it still is better. Those modded textures are remarkable however, but it's still showing its age in other forms in those screenshots.
Half Life 2 with the Cinematic mod clearly looks a lot better. However pretty much any PC game from the last 4 years of note looks better than Uncharted (720p - I mean seriously...). A modded 2004 game looking better graphically than one of the supposed console graphics kings is quite funny though.

But it does look better , The textures and amazing detail that comes from the Cinematic mod requires 2x the video memory then ether console has for video usage. Meanwhile the 360 or PS3 cant even handle L4D 1/2 on high settings.[QUOTE="iamrob7"]

Well I suppose that is a matter of opinion, to me it obviously does but some people might like the art style of Uncharted more even if the textures look incredibly jagged/dodgy in comparison. Whatever your opinion, the fact that a 2004 PC game with a mod looks even comparable to a 2011 graphics king on a console that hasn't even been around that long is rather amusing. It just demonstrates the vast disparity between the PC and consoles in terms of quality.

in terms of graphic quality, sure, pc wins in that area. though i don't believe it's really that comparable, UC3 looks much better.

I don't see how based on the pictures, you can think Uncharted 3 looks better. Half the pictures are blurry and full of aliasing.[QUOTE="lazerface216"]

Whats with the inanimate object remarks on the faces? They still animate second to only LANoire.topgunmv
I'm exaggerating a bit, but it looks like a Nintendo64 titles with a high res texture mod. Not N64 quality, but it just looks off. PC gamers always post these pics which they think look amazing, but I always think to myself, "wow, really?" Stalker comes to mind.

I've played Half Life 2 on my PS3 dozens of times and I've always found it to be visually impressive. That cinematic mod is rubbish though, changing all the character models as such.

Just because a game looks better on PC doesn't mean it looks bad on a console. I find the game very visually attractive on my 55" tv. They have a nice crisp look to them.
Uncharted 3 looks better in my opinion. I've played that mod, while impressive, the source engine still really shows its age compared to Uncharted 3.
If you would render Uncharted 3 at 1080p with a decent AA method and some AF it would easily rival or beat even the best PC games. The game has the potential to look that good. It's just extremely limited by the hardware.
It makes me really excited to know that the new consoles will be coming out in a few years. The current ones are really limiting what they can do.
technically UC3 has better character models and a better looking art style but these photos don't reallly do HL2 justice.
the small screensize will help hide the deficiencies of UC3 - ie the low resolution models, textures etc.
you play both games on a 32" screen or bigger and you will start to see the flaws of UC3 being only 720p.
Exactly, held back by consoles, just like every other technologically demanding game (in every aspect, not just graphics, physics, level size etc...) on consoles, they are forced to not reach their full potential so the devs can pander to lazy, uninfrmed people on 6 year old hardware.Uncharted 3 looks better in my opinion. UC3 in 1080p with AA/AF would not beat Crysis 1/2/Metro 2033/BF3/Witcher 2/Shogun 2/insanely modded Doom 3/modded Stalker games/Dirt 2/3/modded Bethesda games/Bulletstorm/ Batman AC

I thought this thread would be dead by now. I guess the new terms mean self ownage threads can go on forever too, which isn't exactly merciful.
I kind of want to download that HL2 mod just to have an excuse to play it again while I wait another 5 years until HL3, but I'm kind of lazy so... it is a toss up.

yeah i got self owned hard, i proved an 8 year old game can match up to a 2011 game

Yes it would. Clearly you haven't played it. The only thing holding back Uncharted 3 (and 2) is the fact it cannot be rendered in 1080p with AA/AF and at 60fps.
If it could, it would be a major contender for graphics king. You don't seem to see how detailed everything is in the game.

just no man, maybe if they gave it way better shadows and textures, it would look allright
I love HL2 and like the cinematic mod - except the repetitive Dark Knight music - but it's overcoated in cheap effects; blinding bloom/blur/etc, plus the low polygon count is still very noticeable.

Haven't you guys had enough about graphics already? why dont guys stop counting pixels and enjoy a game for what it was really meant for, its gameplay graphics are going to improve yes, but you guys need to get it through your heads that nearly evey company has their own artstyle
I like the looks of Uncharted 3 better. But, I found the choice of colors and varied scenery more pleasing to the eye rather than any technical merit on UC3's part. There are some games that just looks better to the eye with or without regards to the tech behind them. Heck, I find Bioshock very pleasing to the eye, probably more so than the Crysis games even though it's tech is undoubtedly cruder.
If it was going to be a technical dissection like that thread between Crysis and Crysis 2, then it might be more of a toss-up.
There's an option to not use his character models you know.[QUOTE="brickdoctor"]
