Was PC gaming ever down??? I'm confused.
I play on my PC too as well as on my PS3.
I always had a PC and a Playstation combo. I think it's the best.
Half-Life 3 probably won't be released until 2015 or something like that, considering that they still have to get episode 3 out of the way.
[QUOTE="iamanoobkillme"]great a another pc gaming postskrat_01Im guessing you are sick of all the console ones?

They just need to come out, and we will see a repeat of last gen when everyone who owned a PS2, Gamecube, Xbox saw what was on PC and were so jealeous.3verlastingHero
i was never jealous of what was on PC
i have a decent PC, if it had the games i liked, i'd buy them and play them on PC
2 of those will be on consoles.angelkimne
and nobody will care since they'll be inferior versions.....as usual.
PC gaming will never be what it was before consoles took over. Most gaming companies are starting to quit their PC ambitions due to piracy issues. Also, why spend thousands on a PC to play the newest games when consoles under $500 can play the same games? PC games are fun and much more customizable but usually it's too much of a hassle for everybody.Jrfanfreak88
Yet the PC still has the most games...

Because sales are a clear indictator of quality, eh? Besides, if games that sold like GTA or Halo were the only way to gauge a game's worth, that would mean that every other game (console and PC) that had never passed the "million copies sold" mark are not worth anybody's time, am I right?
Use some common sense before whipping out the sales card.
Also, it does not cost thousands of dollars to get a PC gaming capable rig. Less pretend numbers kthx.

Wrong. In today's market the dedicated video game systems are only one piece of the equation. In terms of revenue, the largest single platform worldwide for 2007 was the PC. On a global scale, the PC as a gaming platform has maintained strong growth for some time. DFC estimates there are over 260 million PC gamers worldwide, and that should grow to close to 350 million by 2012. Of course, many games on the PC are available for free and it has always been difficult to generate revenue from the PC game market. However, as mentioned, DFC Intelligence estimates the PC gaming market is the largest single game segment on a revenue basis and it is expected to grow 80% over the next 5 years. On a worldwide basis the PC gaming market (including online game revenue) accounted for nearly 30% of interactive entertainment software revenue in 2007. Of course, that does not include all the PC hardware sales that are generated from gamers. - SourceHalf Life 3 will be the most epic FPS ever i think. I really really cant wait. But that's a long way away so i wouldnt even start talking about it, episode 3 has to come first, and then you have to wait a bunch of years (like the first half life).
I dont like those other types of games PC gamers love for some reason. Those RTS, commanding things and sending groups of people to places i just find those games really really incredibly boring.

one problem...even the NPD has admited their PC numbers are flawed without digital distrobution....the numbers posted above...do include DD and are significantly higher.

PC Sales. Because your quote is just 'retail' and does not include DD, which is where most of the PC revenue has moved. On a worldwide basis the PC gaming market (including online game revenue) accounted for nearly 30% of interactive entertainment software revenue in 2007. I never said anything about quality sir. I think PC games probably have higher quality than console games do which if you read my first post you would know that. Regardless, it does cost at least $2,000 to get a computer that is going to play the newest games for the next couple years. I have a $2500 laptop and it even struggles playing the newest games on the highest graphics even though my nvidia video card is very nice. With a video game console, you are not only spending much less but you have the assurance that each game you buy for it won't have to fit to system requirements and you won't have to upgrade your console until a new one comes out after 5-7 years.

you simply have no clue what you are talking about.....a $900 PC is capable of playing Crysis on High settings.
As edited above: On a worldwide basis the PC gaming market (including online game revenue) accounted for nearly 30% of interactive entertainment software revenue in 2007. Divide the other 70% among the DS, PSP, PS2, PS3, and X360. As indicated by the very link your provided: Update: The NPD Group has chimed in, attributing the low percentage of PC software sales to the growing shift towards digital distribution, which the firm does not track. IMO i don't see how poeple can justify the cost of pc gaming. Whats the point in getting a mediocore pc when u might aswell have the same experience on most of the same games on a 360 for a fraction of the cost. Theres only point in getting a gaming pc if its awesome (+$1500) that'll blow console gaming out the water completely. And after that the cycle for pc's are so much shorter graphics cards must be updated every 1.5 years to have the best experience with new games.

Why dont you post here again when you have a Console with a map editor for nearly every major game?
and did you ever consider that maybe its for the games? there is a reason the PC has had more AA/AAA exclusives this gen than all consoles combined twice over.

Mods, better online, and controls (for some).
The games? There are plenty of games and game styles that consoles simply don't support. Where is the consoles flight sim? There isn't one? Why not? Oh yeah, crappy limited controllers. Where is the consoles 4X games? Where are the naval sims or tank sims? Where are the REAL RTS games and adventure games? Where are games like the Total War series or IL2 or STALKER? Console games are so cookie-cutter and don't really try anything new. And besides, I grew out of ninjas, anime babes and fast cars in my teens.IMO i don't see how poeple can justify the cost of pc gaming. I guess both of you guys missed the post where I said "I'm not referring to global sales"? I have been referring to North America all along because I happen to live here therefore I am giving my views for this region. Secondly, the article states that 2 billion in sales is for handhelds so guess where the remaining 16 billion goes?
I thought HL2: Episode 1, 2 and 3 were Half-Life 3 ? I could've sworn I heard somebody from Valve say that.NWA_31
I read an article about Valve and Half Life 3 a while ago and they only asked the question. The response was basically that, by the time they finished Half Life 3 they would be ready to retire, so they are just focusing on the HL2 episodes for now.
