however when it comes to users scores halo 3 only gets 8.9 and mgs4 gets 9.5 so overall more users liked mgs4

When I'm playing my games I'm not like I can't believe this game for a 5.0 on GS or this game > that game. I'm like this is fun so I'm going to continue playing it. Yes Halo 3 is better than MGS4, but since it's a Metal Gear Solid game, it's not exactly something to brag about. That's like saying "Star Wars is better than Battlefield Earth". It just doesn't hold any weight.siggy3

As far as im concerned MGS4 worth a 9.5 and Halo 3 an 8.5.

It was not a 10/10 game - i say that as an MGS fan, who considered buying a PS3 for it.

As for Halo 3, its singleplayer is so lackluster, as well as other issues, If it was not for the superb multiplayer id think it deserves lower.

Never the less the reviews stand as they are.

I personaly think mgs4 is better then halo3, but thats besides the point im about to make.

Using gamerankings or any other service that takes the average to say that one game is better then the other is just garbage.

There is nothing wrong with using reviews to say that, but using an average is bad, anyone who has taking stats knows that when taking the mean, extreme values carry more weight. Which ends up giving opinions more value then others.

for example: say a game has an mean of 95%- some review gives it a review of 75%...it would take a single review of just 115% to have the same effect on the mean, but since we are caped at 100% it would take several reviews to overcome that single 75%.

And not to mention they have different review sources, comparing 2 scores on gamerankings is uselss. Game rankings is good for nothing more then just getting a general idea about how good a game is not comparing. Sites like rottentomatoes is good becuase they are not comparing a score but just a yes/no answer
