Halo 3 IS NOT ALPHA!!!!

Do you know what Alpha means? It's the first playable build of a game. Beta is the when a game is nearly complete, and they're just fine-tuning it, and maybe haven't added every single feature yet.

First off....if any of you guys KNEW what an Alpha build is...then yeah...you'd keep quiet about that claim. What you are mixing up is the fact that they throw a few pre-alpha/alpha shots into the whole video and call it alpha without being specific. WHAT YOU SAW THOSE PEOPLE PLAYING WAS BETA.

 

That said Halo 3 WILL NOT be able to compete with Resistance: Fall of Man LET ALONE Killzone 2...and before you say it sucks...check out the shots of MC fallen in slow motion...looks like Doom 1....and the grenade explosions...no comment..I'll let you defend that.....

So why are people trying to say this is all an alpha? When it is clearly NOT...

A simple question for cows: do you honestly think the people at bungie would release halo3, the game they know kept the xbox alive, looking like a subpar mess? honestly is that what you believe? Do you think M$ would even allow it? The xbox and halo are two words that are prectically merged to each other. MS and Bungie aren't about to slip up again with Halo 3 like they did with part 2. Wow, this thread is getting completely out-of-hand.

Since a lot of people obviously don't know what a game-engine is, please read this ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_engine ) .Basically, the engine is what allows everything to even be in that game, and to even work in the first place.  The engine does not magically provide graphics, sound, or anything.  These elements can be enhanced as much as the developer's wish.

Game Maker is a game engine.  ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_game_engines#Free_Engines ). Notice that the level of sound and graphic details is up to the developer, and can be enhanced whenever.

People complain that the Alpha ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_version#Alpha ) looks nothing like the announcement trailer ( http://www.bungie.net/Projects/Halo3/default.aspx [link at bottom right]) released at the E3.  Well, let's remember that the developer can polish and add to whatever the hell they want to.  In this instance, they wanted to give everyone a view on what Halo 3 will look like, in the end-result.  What developer is going to show an announcement trailer with "alpha" visuals and functionalities?  They can make any part of the game look like that, and they have shown that the engine is compeletely capable of making any part look like that.  ( http://www.bungie.net/Projects/Halo3/default.aspx [Watch the Making of the Announcement Trailer vid]).

Bungie was not show-casing the graphics.  They were show-casing the "features."  If you doubt that they aren't working on the graphics, try reading the weekly updates that are posted on Bungie.net every Friday afternoon.  Everyday, every minute, they are adding more and more to the graphics.  They are replacing place-holders, and they are adding in new animations, new textures, new-whatever.  And you know how a simple replacement of a texture can change the look of a whole game (Gears of War is all sexy textures).

The footage you have seen is old.  How old?  Months old.  The Alpha testing has ended about two to three months ago, and they are currently Beta testing inside their own offices.  Once the beta testing is finished, ( http://www.gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/25618845-4d93-46ab-963a-a280d78445bf.htm ) they'll create and send out the Delta.  (Which is called the "Public Beta").  So you guys, May 16th, are going to be getting a very polished game here, and I am interested in seeing the reactions of this forum come that day.

Look Killzone 1 was total crap why is Killzone 2 going to be any better because Sony lied and showed some CGI?

So the best selling game ever isn't going be able to compete with Rehash: fall of man? Come on dude that's a big stretch for anyone to make. I know it hurts that Sony lied and sold you a $600 Blue Ray movie player and that 360 stomps Ps3 is all areas of gaming now, we know it hurts but you don't have to justify Sony stealing your $600 by making ridiculous claims like this.

lol..funny how bungie right now are using a year old engine in a brand new footage shown rencently. what happen to the so called realime Halo 3 06 trailer that halo 3 is suppose to look like...if it looked like that back then why haven't we seen anything close to that right now??? but OLD beta/alpha rubbish???

Lemmings seriouslly don't expect mind blowing improvements graphically, since Halo 2 couldn't even deliver regarding its older realtime/gameplay footage.. geez.

I just counted my posts, and it's been explained to you FIFTEEN TIMES that the footage shown in the vidoc is from a year ago, and is not "new footage" as you keep saying. I honestly find that incredible. Fifteen times.
