if it gets 9.0 here thats a big success since this review system is next to impossible now to get a good score.

No because games weren't as big a bussiness as they are now... Trust me there would have been lines if the industry was more estblished and mainstream 10 years ago.
And it did sell systems like crazy.

true but if i where you i wouldn't be making such a big deal, if it flops(witch i really doubt) you're gonna have to eat your words, although it's practically imposible for the game to suck, i mean this is the most hyped game of the year, MS has to be aware that they have to live up to the hype, so i hope you guys get a really good score on this one and you enjoy your game.:D

[QUOTE="_Pedro_"]Halo 3 is not as anticipated as StarCraft 2.Reyes360
to be determined and thats a PC game and IM SURE it wont have this type of advertisement. The casuals will say Starcraft 2 ? They know what halo 3 is...
how clueless... Halo 3 will go unnoticed in Europe and Asia. Just you see what Starcraft will do to the entire world :) It's only in the US (maybe UK) where Halo is worshipped.
Its posts like this that end up making people create halo hate threads we know Halo is a great series its universally appreaciated in the game public and by critics as a top tier FPS but it is not the best especially if you play PC FPS. Its a great game and it will sell phenominally well we know this but its not the most anticipated game of all time anyboy who says that has not been playing games very long I remember just how much anticipation there was for ocarina of time it was the first console zelda game since link to the past so there was 6+ years of anticipation in the game community for that. Halo fans are by far the most annoying because most think they are hardcore gamers when the only thing they are harcore about is halo not to offend people who are seriously hardcore game enthusiasts and like halo there is a difference an I'm sure they will understand what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about these halo fanboys who buy into this hype because MS is throwing $10 million in marketing on a single game. It shows how smart/dumb MS is really though they could have spent half that still had a great marketing campaign and used $5 miillion on game development of other franchises cause we know halo 3 is going to sell with or without marketing investing 10 million more into marketing will increse sales but not really by alot fans of halo will buy it and anyone who hasn't played a halo game yet probably aren't really into FPS so the amount on new fans to bring in I feel is limited to the people already planning on buying a 360 or have one already and haven't played halo which I would say is a small amount of people. (personally though the hype is simply to try to get Halo 3 to have another massive launch like halo 2 and then MS would use these numbers to show how awesome the halo series is and say something about it has the biggest launch sales ever so it must be the most popular game series is simply marketing hype and anyone who has been paying attention to the industry knows this but it then becoms a fanboy pissing contest)
IMO it would make more sense to say super mario galaxy is more anticipated with the number of wiis out there and the past sales of the mario series not to mention its more international appeal. I would like to say finally this is not a bash on halo series I enjoy it I just want to say that people who make these type of comments are speaking an opinion based on their own opinion and marketing hype by no means is it fact.

Halo 3 has COMMERCIAL (as in, the general population) hype.
Over well over a million pre-orders.
National news coverage.
Trailers in movie theaters.
Commercials on TV for over a year.
Presence in National publications.
There really is no gaming phonemonon that receives mass attention or equally massive marketing efforts on the scope or scale of Halo. That's a fact.
I bet the next 3 weeks will yield a Newsweek Halo cover, front-page MSNBC and Fox New website press, every local news network interviewing people standing in line for midnight launches, commercials on Monday Night Football and new spots on all major networks, viral web marketing, and further movies like the one that was released today.
To compare that to the launch of the oft-delayed Zelda or RE4...that's damn near irresponsible. Near-sighted at best. Nothing gets the hype Halo gets. Warranted or not.

I'm not sure if you noticed...but he never said it was the BEST FPS series...only the most ANTICIPATED. It *is* the most anticipated, as suggested by it's record-breaking pre-order stats. It went over a million way back in early July as I recall. That is what we call *anticipation*.
Anticipation != best, and that's something you're going to have to deal with without ranting and raving.
Him saying "most anticipated" is probably a fact. Whether it's "the best" or not is neither something he said, nor is it something that can be proven as fact.
To each his own. As an avid UT player, I prefer UT...but I wouldn't say Halo is not one of the 3 best FPS series out there either. Don't let fanboys make you become an anti-Halo fanboy just because you don't agree with some of them. Makes you just as bad as they are.
THAT is a fact.

your confusing marketing hype with actual anticipation yes its anticipated but those commercials and media attention all has a cost on it they don't put a tv commercial on tv for free cause they like the game but because MS pays them. 10 Million on marketing 1 game alone which is more than the cost of the entire production of some games. We are simply stating that its not the most anticipated game ever even though it may seem that ways cause of the massive amounts of media attention if Halo or Halo 2 were the highest selling games of last gen then maybe they would have a point but they weren't although they were up there so basically my argument comes down to marketing hype does not equal the actual anticipation level if it did then yes I would agree that Halo 3 is the most anticipated of all time.

So is Madden the most anticipated game every year? It sold 7.4 million alone in the states last year. You literally have people in line every year all around every gaming store in the country. Its practically a nationl event every year? But I don't think sales can be used to decide which is most anticpated. Take Metroid Prime for instance. It didn't sell great but it was anticipated because there wasn't one until 8 years prior. Meh am I even making sense? lol
The days go by and by and sept 25th gets closer and closer? Do Cows have any idea about how it is to wait for a game that is this highly anticipated? MGS4? It wont touch the hype that Halo 3 gets..... Honestly this is unquestioned the most hyped game ever and it really hasnt even heated up. you totally missed the point of my post I did say halo wasn't the best FPS but that was only a small portion of my post I went on to say that the marketing has madre it seem like the most anticipated but actual anticipation is a different thing then you brought up pre-orers so if you were to go by pre-orderes it still wouldn't be the most anticipated of all time becauise vice city had over 4 million pre-orders. I later said that Halo and Halo 2 were not even the highest selling games of last gen so what makes you think the game community as a whole is anticipating Halo 3 more than any other game in history that is what the TC said and what I am arguing. I brought up SMG and someboy else brought up starcraft 2 valid game that the community are probably anticpating more because of the number of PC and wiis out there not to mention past sales of both series.
Again you are acting like I said it wasn't anticipated it definately is very anticipated one of the biggest games of the year but the TC said of all time and thats where I have to step in an bring him back to reality because there is nothing to indicate the actual anticipation level except for mass media marketing which can be misleading because if you believe all marketing that would mean lair is actually good and we all know better than that.

I see what you're saying. But since I don't think it's possible to separate out preceived hype from actual hype (nor does anyone else), I'll have to acquiesce from the discussion. It will only yield a circular argument.
In the end, I think all the hype is getting people excited about it that may have been a bit apathetic.
I think it's caused the record-breaking million + pre-orders (perhaps the only real evidence of effective resident hype).
I think that's just about the only way we can guage hype...and just because some anti-Halo fanboys and people who don't like the franchise or the 360 are apathetic it doesn't mean you can take that sentiment and homeogenously spread it across the entire gaming climate.

great rebuttle you are so good at making your points... great job
Nah GTA4 is.gameruk2010Only the early sales figures and pre-orders will tell for sure. Everything else is heresay or relative.
Based on web forum hype + national press + record-breaking pre-orders + gaming magazine hype, the anticipation couldn't be higher.
Of course, those without 360's won't be anticipating the game...and those who don't like FPS won't be anticipating the game. But that can be said about any game appearing on a console that everyone doesn't have...and nobody will anticipate *every* game because no game is univerally loved.

Actually no all I said that its not the most anticpated of all time and said potentially with Wii sales outpacing 360 and traditional sales of the mario series not to mention the fact the series dates back over 20 years that it could be more anticipated than Halo 3 but I guess all those commercial and magazine cover and articles that MS pays for must mean it more anticipated.
You proved my point about rabid halo fans though me saying its not the most anticpated game of all time is a bash even though I said I like the series. Maybe you should rethink what you are saying or re-read my post you choose.
