A) Its not a full new entry in Halo
B) It was marketed poorly (people were confused about what it is)
C) It has already sold almost a million more than the first uncharted, or it will by the end of next week
D) It has pretty terrible value compared to Uncharted 2 or Modern Warfare 2
E) Who cares?
I havent bought a game in almost a year. Im broke. We are now a one income family, so my gaming takes a back seat. Im now a stay at home parent. I use to buy 1-3 games a month if I wanted.
PLUS...im tired of supporting the 360 and MS. I just cant justify giving them more money or hype. Many many families are like us now..this is why games arent selling as much im sure.
Economy, one person supporting the family, console reliability issues...ect...
You provided evidence and based your conclusion upon this evidence, unlike many other System Warriors. You, Sir, have not given us fail, but win. Congratulations.
[QUOTE="Awinagainov"]Wait a minute, if it's not a full new entry then why is every Lem saying it's value is worth $60? There is some mixed feelings about this game. On one hand it's $60 for a bit of an expansion, on the other it's one of the greatest expanissions we've ever seen.
For a game M$ hardly marketed, and Bungie didn't put all their love into, it sold over two million copies, so M$ is probably pretty happy. Sure, they could have sold more at $40, but probably not many more.
Anyways, it definitely pleased A LOT of very HUNGRY, almost starved 360 gamers this year, so that's a big plus. :)
I think you have wierd sense of scale. What you say is certainly one way to spin it. Let's extend your comparison to other games. Killzone 2, for instance. How do you describe KZ2's performance when ODST sells more in a couple days than what KZ2 sold in span of months? Don't give me whys and wherefores. Just apply your Halo 3 standard for comparison and tell me.
Riiiight, because theres a breed of 360 gamers out there who ONLY touch exclusives, right? gotta love system wars mentality. There is some mixed feelings about this game. On one hand it's $60 for a bit of an expansion, on the other it's one of the greatest expanissions we've ever seen.

Yeah, and when you consider only around 15 people worked on ODST for a while, yet Killzone 2 had a massive dev team and budget behind it, you just have to laugh a little :lol:I think you have wierd sense of scale. So now we are going to belly-ache about 2.2 million units sold? 1 million units is great for a game, and this is week one sales?
Only on system wars will you see posters trying to convince us that 2.2 million sales in a week is a bad thing.
For Halo, compared the records that 2 and 3 set it seems quite weak. However given its Halo and 10 million plus Halo 3 gamer out there, you can expect this to sell above million copies.Only on system wars will you see posters trying to convince us that 2.2 million sales in a week is a bad thing.

This really does show what chumps us XBOX 360 owners can be at times. We line up in mass for a $60.00 cheap cash in while any game that shows a hint of innovation barley sells 300k. I hope Brutal Legends is recieved with the same level of adoration.......I already realise it won't be.

Let's not get overboard here...

That's because ODST is a stand alone expansion pack and was hyped far less than Halo 3.
2.2 million in the first few days is still pretty amazing. Most games don't even manage to get 1 million in the first month.

In regarding C. You have to account for Halo already being a big franchise and the number of owners of the 360 vs PS3 owners. Everything else I agree with you.
It's embarrassingly weak sales for a Halo game.Only on system wars will you see posters trying to convince us that 2.2 million sales in a week is a bad thing.

it also released in a bad time of the month. 22nd im shocked it sold 2.2 being alot of people are broke about that time

Did you really expect a "standalone expansion" to sell more than a full fledged sequel? Thats a bit naive if you ask me.
Maybe you didn't read me? Halo 3 sold more in its first day than this expansion managed to do in one week.TheKingAPopYour point being? The Dark Knight almost netted a $1billion in theater receipts and dominated it's opening weekend. That does not mean that Spider-man had an embarrassingly weak opening. But if it makes you feel good to put forth a very biased comparison as your only way to dog ODST, by all means don't let me get in your way.

Killzone is a relatively new series, while Halo is the most successful first-person shooter series with its iconic character Master Chief. It's unfair.I think you have wierd sense of scale. you do realise that halo 3 had a multi-million dollar ad campaign that started nearly one year before launch and that ODST only has one commercial which didn't appear on TV until the week before the game hit the shelves, right? the game may not have sold as well as halo 2 or 3, but it outsold almost ever single game this gen in a single week. it took kz2 2 months to even hit 2 million worldwide. gears one also took the same amount of time. the problem isn't that the game is bad, it's that it didn't have the ad support that halo 3 had and the fact that it is overpriced (if you don't care about the MP portion of the game.) the game will continue to sell and you see an explosion in sales once the price drops below $40.

relatively new? the series started in 2004 with the ps2. it came out 3 years after halo: CE. a relatively new series would be gears of war or mass effect.

Again, you can't compare Killzone to Halo. Killzone is nothing huge or spectacular. Halo is an iconic first-person shooters and is played by over a million each day. There is a clear popularity difference.I still hate that they first announced it as an standalone that wouldn't be more than 30 dollars and would be downloadable via Xbox Marketplace also.

Wow you really need to learn what an opinion is!
Ohh so THAT'S why MGS4 sold as many as it did. Because ps3 owners didn't have anything for 2 years prior. I got it now thanks.Anyways, it definitely pleased A LOT of very HUNGRY, almost starved 360 gamers this year, so that's a big plus. :)
