Probably the biggest game of 2007 will be Halo 3 for the Xbox 360. Gamers have been waiting for this sequel since Halo 2 came out in 2004 on the original Xbox. Bungie finally announced the releasedate last month: September 26. We've all had a chance to play the Halo 3 beta but the singleplayer of Halo 3 is still a big mystery.

Today Microsoft released the official boxarts of both the Normal Edition, Special Edition and the Legendary Edition. When you look at the Special Edition box tough, you'll notice three separate discs: Game Disc One, Game Disc Two and Bonus Features. Does this mean Halo 3 will be on two discs?

Nothing official on this but the picture surely says enough. It could be a mistake or the singleplayer and multiplayer are put on separate discs or something. Check the picture out below and jump to your own conclusions, but it looks like Halo 3 will be on two discs.

Documentary/ extras discs FTW!

if it is it will be Multiplayer on one and Single player on the other which could be great not having everything squashed on a DVD9 I think maybe the 360 is starting to see the need for HD DVD formats now, The PS3 isn't going to use Blu Ray fully untill 2008 which is a waste. I think Microsoft will produce a HD DVD games player when it is needed.

How lame is it that you have to deal with multiple discs or take up more HDD space?  Doesn;t having more discs (ones without any extra scratch protection) open the door for at least one disc to be ruined by scratches?

Why have multiple discs when you can have it all on one?

I would rather have a game on 3 discs than spend more on a unit to play it on one. Less discs is not worth $200 extra.

A very plausible theory. And isn't Mass Effect, an RPG with massive worlds to explore, reported on 1 disc?

I don't know about Mass Effect, but Oblivion was only one disc. Halo 3 would have to be pretty damn large for it to have to be split like that.

erm... because the small amount of hassle involved in swapping a disk every 10/20 hours is easilly worth the money saved by not having an in-built blueray drive.

And i allready have a ps3, so another hd movie format isnt necessary for me.

Well you could trip and break your neak.

That looks like the Legendary Edition, and on the Gamestop/EBgames site it said that they game ships with that cat Mjolnir helmet, and TWO bonus discs (so sorry it looks like it will only be one DVD)

ur all not lookin at the bigger picture...

if halo is going multi disks then expect lots more to do the same...

changing disks with halo may not be anything at all, but can u imagine changing disks with gta. it would ruin how gta flows. imagine driving ur car across a bridge back and forth while changing disks....or flying in the air then changing disks. if u wanted to go back u have to change disk again which would get very lame...

i know its nothing major but its still something, and who know what other problems it could make.

If it is a split between game and extra content then it doesn't really matter. If they are splitting the game up then I would worry since Halo is the kind of game that would be a little stilted by such a feature.

I don't think it works like that. In Skies of Arcadia when I had to change the disc I could still go anywhere in the game world, it just had more story and audio on the second disc. I'm pretty sure that's what they'll do.

Why have multiple discs when you can have it all on one?

Because it costs $200 more. If you scratch the discs you're just clumsy.

I'm just pointing out that with more discs there's more potential for issues.  We all have had issues with a disc or two throughout our days of gaming.  Some of the benefits of blu-ray help tremendously in this regard.  They are more scratch resistant and they allow more capacity.

With that said, we all know the value of the blu-ray player.  there are some of you out there that aren;t into HD or movies enough to care.  That's fine.  But there are quite a few of us out there that are into those things.  As time goes on there will be more and more people wanting a high capacity, HD disc format.  This is obviously opinion but not much of a stretch from reality.

So, I don't think we can just chalk up the features of blu-ray, that help in the case of Halo, as $200.

I dont think multiple disks work like that. I think in a game like gta a second disk would have the second part of the story. It would still have the entire game world but parts of the story would be on the other disk.

It's not worth 200$ not to swap a disc every once in a while and I swap games all day long never had any scratches.

What do you cows do when you want to play a different game, huff and puff and roll your eyes that you have to get up to swap a game, God forbid you have to get up

It's really not that big of deal as you guys try to make it seem.

[QUOTE="AdobeArtist"]How out of shape are you if you can't change a disc? :roll:demoralizer

How lame is it that you have to deal with multiple discs or take up more HDD space?  Doesn;t having more discs (ones without any extra scratch protection) open the door for at least one disc to be ruined by scratches?

Why have multiple discs when you can have it all on one?

It's not worth 200$ not to swap a disc every once in a while and I swap games all day long never had any scratches.

What do you cows do when you want to play a different game, huff and puff and roll your eyes that you have to get up to swap a game, God forbid you have to get up

It's really not that big of deal as you guys try to make it seem.

Please read all my posts in this thread before trying to debate with me.  Thanks.

I think Microsoft will produce a HD DVD games player when it is needed.

soo ur saying more upgrades r coming?

cuz by the time x360 is finished it might of cost you 1k.
