Just remember the lord of the rings trilogy. Lord of the rings 3 is considered by many to be one of the better.
Actually Two Towers is my favourite now that you mention it. The third one was long and boring. But back on topic - how does it guarantee Halo 3 good marks? :'(Think about it, if you have a series that did extremly well with its first two, and has many casuals and hardcore fans alike, and the word about it is growing even more so. Considering that they said they are going fix it up, and make it better than Halo 2, they might just do it. Even if they do leave it like Halo 2, it will still sell insanely well due to the fact that Halo 2 did good. Xbox 360 is essential Xbox with a graphics upgrade, and its doing well. So Halo 2 with a graphics upgrade may also do well. But i dunno, i dont have a crystal ball.
P.S. Just to be fair Wii is just a GC with a new remote and PS3 is just a PS2 with better graphics and a (imo tacked on) tilting sensor.

I don't think they have higher standards at all, yo_foo. I think the games just suck.
So RFOM is this all mighty original shooter. Granted its a good game but come on invading aliens, aliens, and a WWII familiarity? That's like putting all the most cliche things in a shooter all at once except for the main character not being a super soldier.Blackbond
If you'll refer back to my post, the Gamespot reviewer clearly thought that Resistance wasn't original at all. Which means you and I are right and yo_foo is wrong. Which also means yo_foo has been owned. By me. Good day, sir.
