Halo 3's story was one of the best this gen...

Sorry but you can't hide behind the "you didn't get it" excuse. I played all 3 games when they came out and the story was so easy to follow.

It just wasn't very good. It was predictable (black guy sarcrificing himself and dying with a ceesy line? lol) and it just wasn't very intersting. The Halo universe had potential but I don't think they pulled it off in these games.

I would have to say that the story was disappointing, mainly because [spoiler] They killed a lot of the characters in a stupid way. Johnson killed by guilty spark? **** that. Also they worked around failing to make gravemind a boss by making up some bs about the flood being one organized mind. Yea whatever. [/spoiler] . However, it still has some awesome cutscenes, and there are two in particular that I can probably call the most epic one's all gen.

allot of people were complaining how halo 3's story didnt deliver the goods. well, all i have to say, you either didnt get it or didnt pay attention to the previous 2 games. its for the hardcore fans in mind. its all about the characters in halo 3, where they end up. character development usually begins over a period of times. you didnt play halo 2's campaign?(wich probably 50% of the people didnt), you missed out so much. check out my 20min summurized halo 3 story http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccQGf55rhMs

i actually read the plot summary on the Halopedia webpage just now, and it is A LOT more complex than I first thought it was. Easily movie quality. The only thing is that they didnt tell it that well in the game. After I read this then I actually really like the story

Go down coridor, kill a million aliens, reach mission objective.. Get the hell out.. This is the only thing through out the entire games we have seen.. AND FOR THE LAST DAMN TIME stop USING THE BOOKs.. Buh buh buh the books!.. Seriously wth is this crap, we are talking about the game just because there were independent books you could read doesn't mean they should som ehow be included into the video game.. The video game story is the STORY YOU ARE GIVEN WHEN YOUR PLAYING.. Not some dozen hours after wards reading multiple novels.

MC is one of the most stupid characters face it.. His name for one is Master Chief, he wears moto cross helmet.. Through out the entire game you never have aglimpse of his past, or show really any emotion.. Nor really had any moral choices that actually defined his character.. In the end he has the depth of a spoon, so little kids can understand.. Buh buh the books? Give me a break I could say that Dawn of War had amazing story due to the books an dthe unvierse books. But that is NOT THE GAME, and the game story was AWFUL..

MGS4 has by far the best story this gen, and regardless of the fact I always outweigh my PS3 over 360, I have to say Halo 3's story and as an overall game is definitley blockbuster and excellent. The world thats created by Bungie is spectacular, though its obvious at certtain scenes that they tried for a cinematic final feel to the whole thing but didnt quite pull it off, its still a succesful and strong dramatic story. hashimgillani1

MGS4 wins by default by actually having a real character.. Not some dumbass cyborg that is emotionaless and inhuman.

You know what had the best story? that EA Lord of the rings game! Have you played it?!?! the world was all fleshed out, the characters explained through and through... of course you need to read the books in order to get it all...

As for Halo... It's right along side with Doom, Quake and Duke Nukem when it comes to story. Except that Master Chief has the depth of a tetris block.
