[QUOTE="madsnakehhh"][QUOTE="rjdofu"]Pardon my ignorance, but wtf is MLG?rjdofu
Major League Gaming, arguably the biggest tournament in the US for games like Starcraft 2, League of Legends and (lol) CoD.
Oh ok, there's nothing related to game quality then.Nop, not at all, TC probably don't even knows what MLG is.
its been mentioned that
Microsoftsigned anexclusive dealwith Virgin Gaming giving them access to the game over MLG."forbes

lol @ halonabs saying MLG is a joke, Halo is a joke, MLG is as big as it's ever been, they got their act together, they focus on games like Starcraft and League of Legends now.
People that dismiss esports don't realize how fast and hard it's growing, and the future will only become more digital, more virtual, it's keeps getting bigger and bigger.
Season 2 LoL finals had like 8 million viewers total, that's just insane, it's mroe then a lot of sporting events. LoL alone has more people watching streams on a daily basis then playing Halo online. Think about that for a second.
And before you ignorant nerds start calling people that like esports nerds rememebr where you are and what you're hobby is. Anyone that's ever been seriously addicted in a competitive game has always enjoyed watching the best of the best play said game.
Truth_Hurts_U
Sure, that's why you go to GS e-sports page and there isn't many comments on the articles. Then they spam the front page to try and get views and all they get are ticked off people that don't give a crap.
E-sports is stupid.
Did you just use gamespot comments as proof of esports popularity? There are more people watching a single LoL streamer atm then total people on gamespot right now, go to twitch and check for yourself. Just LOL :lol:Say hi to this.343i is adding a competitive playlist in about a month.
https://forums.halowaypoint.com/yaf_postst182645p9_Upcoming-Competitive-Playlist.aspx
There's also a new competitve league called AGL I think and virgin gaming that can make skill based competitions.

Participated in MLG back in the Halo days and while I'm not likely the best candidate to opine about which shooters are the most respectable, Halo 4 is the least interesting/competitive of the online MP Halo games. But then again, I thought Reach was either the best or second only to Halo 2 and apparently MLG outlawed it as well, so eh.

Halo 4 is way more balanced than Halo Reach was.
Eww Halo Reach
that's funny, basically peoples' movements are unpredictable so they're crying foul beause they can't camp their favorite spots more effectively, boo-effing-hoolamprey263
I don't think anyone of skill would camp in Halo. That's the least effective stratagy in a game centered(formerly) around map control/ and map movement.
There isn't an option to turn off load-outs and ordinance in custom games? I heard that custom games was disappointing but damn.
Videogames are not a sport nor do they have any value a major competition. It is hobby and anyone who thinks differently is deluded. Why would I want to watch a bunch of geeks play a FPS?

To be fair, nobody comes to GS to watch E-Sports, you should try Spooky Team on TwichTV for fighters and GomTV or NASL TV for Starcraft 2, at least that's what i follow, viwers numbers never hit the millions, but they alwaus have a consistant audience that allows the crew and the players to continue, is not as big as i would liked to be, but is no joke either.
madsnakehhh
Sure it is... I was playing mech warrior durning the day they were doing twitchTV with devs and top players. They were playing the most OP specs that the dev's said they were going to nerf.
Pretty safe to say we got mopped. But I got the only kill. Not bad for having 4 people focus train you with unbalanced weapon builds.
I liked arena on old G4... They played 3 or 4 games in a show and it was fun to watch. No drama... Just pure fun.

Rarely see campers i halo 4 and usually if I see one I kill them or try to kill them.
I never understood the love for 1.6...stick to Source or GO...get ith the times man![QUOTE="DrTrafalgarLaw"][QUOTE="Riadon2"]
MLG... lol...
Let's see them play a game of CS 1.6 or Quake Live
seanmcloughlin
From what I hear 1.6 is still the best/ No point getting with the times if the older version is better.
Then again I've never played a CS game in my life, despite loving FPS games. CS is intimidating
The only reason CS 1.6 is considered the best (from my perspective) from what you hear is because that's all CS 1.6 players play/love. They're probably one of the most stagnant player base I've ever seen, it doesn't matter what version of Counter Strike there is or comes out they will $#!+ on it no matter what and continue playing thier precious 1.6. I played Counter Strike GO and I was surprised by just how much fun it was and how somewhat good I did on the battlefield (I faced off against AI players and did pretty well, human players....meh, better than expected).
Counter Strike Source and GO are both good games regardless of what CS 1.6 fanboys (in fact they're opinion's are almost meaningless given their fanboyism towards the version). Hell, even though he's not at all a Counter Strike player, TB still gave CS:GO a spot in his Top 10 Games of 2012 (#6 to be exact) so that's gotta mean something for the game.

I don't know. I don't particularly like soccer myself, but it has way more credibility than a "pro gaming circuit."
lol so their chickensh*t excuse is that jetpacks make it more difficult to ascertain where enemies are? lololol learn2play then and what randomness are they referring to in multi-player? i have no problem with them dropping the game but i just find the excuses to be ridiculous22Toothpicks
MLG representitives never said anything like that.

Credible? who gives a s*** I would watch a 1000 Dota 2 matches over a single boring sport. Rather odd that Forbes dismisses the exclusivity agreement yet brings to light the randomness of Halo 4's multiplayer, and then makes no mention of that same randomness in Blops 2.Stevo_the_gamerForbes also said that Microsoft was going to sell the Xbox brand to Sony or Barnes and Noble.

That's not what MLG said.
All MLG said was that Microsoft signed an exclusivity agreement with a different event.
All the other stuff was just that Forbes author's opinion on the game.
lol@sw
The fact Halo was on MLG was once an argument as why Halo was superior to some FPS (yes, some lems used this argument as why Halo was "better" than Killzone), now that isnt part of MLG is "lolMLG"
Damage control at its finest
I don't recall anyone here ever making that argument. I certainly haven't.lol@sw

I do. In a Halo vs Killzone thread a while ago. I'm too lazy to find it but take my word on it. Actually, knowing SW is not that hard to believe in my word.

I'm sure some people have said it, but it's terrible argument. League of Legends is garbage from a competitive standpoint because it's all about the metagame and what is the most OP at any given time. Please Log In to post.
