Comparing twitch views of multiplayer shooters is different than comparing them for a multiplayer shooter vs a story driven game. Halo used to drive the competitive gaming scene during 2 and 3 and now its irrelevant. Uncharted has never been praised for its multiplayer. We all know the multiplayer blows. You xbots just have trouble admitting Halo multiplayer has sucked since Reach came out and no one plays it anymore.

@Blabadon: Well when it comes to multiplayer games it is a useful tool in measuring their popularity. I don't care about twitch views myself but to try and dismiss them in a relevant situation is denial.

I think its more of a bummer that he thinks BLOPS 3 is better than Siege. This new generation of children is doomed.

@mems_1224: granted, I haven't played much Siege, the time I did was during the free week when all the players were asshole to the new ones.

That being said, holy shit Black Ops 3 was just not fun in any mode I played at all. It's a shame that there's no good arena multiplayer shooter on PS4, or that PlayStation consoles in general, because Halo 5 is too fucking good man.

So at this point, it is clear that:

  • The game sold very well (5 million copies sold to date, less than a year after launch)
  • The game's critical reception was pretty good
  • The game's online population is vibrant and active, unlike Halo 4

What's next on the agenda to try and downplay the success of the game?

Let me look at my XBO Smear Campaign guide...

I think the next thing is to say that XBO has no games, therefore what else would XBO owners be playing?

Has that been done yet?

1) MP games all of this are retail MP or coop

Ryse son of Rome

Forza 5

Forza Horizon2

Forza 6

Halo5

ZooTycon

Titanfall

Killer instinc

Project Spark

Quantum Break

Deadrising3

Sunset Overdrive

Rise of the Tomb rader

2) LMAOL Campaign guide in HALO

when it comes to MP sony fans have no rigth to talk

they use that drm spech to cover up PS plus

claiming its to improve PSN and yet PSN still go thru mantainences days and forget about the DEDICATED SERVER they literally been avoiding MP all together

Bloodborn

knack

infamos ss

until dawn

everyone gone to rapture

the last guardian

New gow

Horizon Zero Dawn

Spider-Man

and they even strip MP of games that alredy had MP

uncharted collection

GOW 3

yeah most of their RETAIL exclusives are all SP and the once that actually do have MP like Killzone SF its a basic MP that dont even have a progressive ranking MEANING THEY DONT HAVE TO SAVE ANYTHING TO THEIR SERVERS

I like ps4 but the reason I prefer xbox is this exact reason ps4 is straight out a console for SP mostly cinematic games they saving them self money by not having to keep servers by making SP games so any Sony fan trasing halo on this thread its just delucional to even compare MP betwing both consols on PS4 there is only multiplat Mp FOR THE MOST PART

It was at 5 million nearly 6 months ago, that's straight from the horses mouth, sorry but you're wrong and you should read these things before ignorantly commenting and trying to 'correct' a situation.

Undebatable.

It was 5 million shipped not sold to consumer until MS confirm that,if it was 5 million in 3 months that game would be now $at 49 dollars for the $100 version or $34 dollars for the normal version,Halo 3 wasn't selling for $34 dollars since april 2008,like Halo 5 has being not even used on gamestop the game was $34 dollars in fact is was $55 used,i remember because i use to complain about Gamestop shitty tactics of selling the used version for $55 when the new one was $60,and when they wanted to give you like $30 tops for the game.

Halo 3 sold 4.8 million little over 3 months US alone, world wide it was like 6 millions, there is no way Halo 5 was at 5 million sold in 3 months when Halo 5 sold less than half of what Halo 3 did on launch,in US and UK and dropped out of NPD fast unlike Halo 3,is not our fault that you lemmings don't know history.

Halo 5 launched in October 27 and did on NPD some 900k not even a million in the 5 or 6 days of NPD i say 5 or 6 because NPD doesn't stop on October 31 it actually cover a few days from November.

It sold 5 million in three months, TO CONSUMERS, don't act stupid right now, I know you're more logically sound than this.

How many copies did Uncharted 4 sell? 2.7 million in its first WEEK? Examine that for a second, 2.7 million in one week... How many copies of the game do you think they had in retail stores, likely well over 4-5 million I can tell you that much. So you're going sit there and tell me that it took 3 months for Microsoft to get 5 million copies of Halo 5 onto retail shelves?

That's one of the most asinine things I've ever read, you don't live in reality.

The Halo 5 campaign is pretty darn (let's be kind, and say) repetitive. You fight one boss for the entire game, but they make up for this by having you fight him, what?, 5-7 times? One time they throw you a curve ball and have you fight the boss two times at once! Game changer!

I didn't think I would get this, but after playing the trial for a week, and being on sale, it was a no brainer. The multiplayer really is awesome. Firefight is so much fun, and I've never really been too into hoard modes. I kind of like games that let you open packs of cards though ha. My FF record is like 7/40 lol, that junk is way harder than I would have ever thought.

@NathanDrakeSwag:

Blops 3 is currently #6 on Twitch. Halo 5 is 73.

I'm pretty sure M$ and 343 would rather have a game people actually play for more than a week than a game that scores 3 points higher on metacritic LOL.

I'll never say its Halo's best campaign. Its definitely the weakest. I merely asked someone who is stating it is utter shyte if they have come to this conclusion through experience (if so why is he talking about scooping it up?) or if it is internet reading experience which is also skewed by the fact he is a cow.

@dynamitecop: If I recall the only game to sell anywhere near 8 million on the Xbox one is black ops 3.Halo 5 will have to sell a couple million digital to get anywhere near there.Anyway,Halo 5's digital attach rate should be enough to push the game above 5 million and possibly close to 6 million.

It hasn't the whole 5 million claim was never sold to consumer,a 343 representative on neogaf claim the game was at 5 million in 3 months, but reality is he never stated sold to consumer or sold through this is a case of 400 million all over again,in fact i think they shipped 5 million on day 1,because that is the only way Halo 5 can come close to 400 million in 1 day like MS try to imply,MS has being very dishonest with their numbers and any of them should be taken with a truck load of salt.

The fact alone that they try to pass that Halo 5 sold 400 millions in dollars, then word get out that they are accounting bundles, downloadable content, controllers and everything they shipped just kill any credibility about their numbers,Halo was the xbox,it is the force and soul of the xbox, and is not selling like it use to.

For example Halo 3 was on NPD 4 months in a row and sold like 6 million units in 3 months and 5 days,is impossible that Halo 5 which banish ultra fast from NPD and didn't do half in 5 days of what Halo 3 did on 1 day,MS just stopped being honest about anything, since the brand is in trouble it has being all about lies and backtracking even things regarding scorpio.

I don't think the game has sold 5 million in 3 months.Frankie never clarified what that number was referring to. The game had well above average digital attach rate if I recall for a console game at it's launch You like to harp on that MS shipped a lot more copies of the game then the sold but you keep on forgetting that the game has sold very well digitally for a console game at launch and it's likely a decent chunk of the actual amount it sold(15%-20% or a bit lower than this) came from people buying the game digital. The game has had various promotions at retail and in the xbox one's digital storefront since launch. Sometimes these promotions concided with special events like a new upodate releasing for the game. It's likely the game has sold 5 million digital+retail combined by now.

Let me just put this to an end right now because you two are becoming highly annoying, the game sold-through ~5 million in 3 months, it's clear what they're talking about previously which incited Stinkles to reply.

Microsoft hasn't commented on actual numbers, so we don't know how much the game has sold. Xbox, in general, has taken a more Sony approach to numbers this gen.

Realy shame. Maybe next gen.

You're just moving goalposts right now for whatever fucking reason, Stinkles is Frank O'Conner the development director for 343 Industries, and Aaron is not being vague, he specifically says "sell-through" to a post asking if it was shipped or sold-through.

This is done, them not boasting doesn't mean anything, that's just a fallacy to deny something.

Halo 5 only scored an 8/10 here. Uncharted 4 got a 10/10.

You don't need actual solidified numbers, when someone says "~5 million" there's a small margin of error for give or take hence the application of the tilde.

The game was slightly below or slightly above 5 million sold-through at the end of January.

No, seriously, you think we don't objectively know that Halo 5's campaign is a watery corn-ridden back alley shyte? It's not a secret. Heaven help me if you come back with "This isn't the same as actually playing it.." because I will backhand a kitten and it will be your fault.

LMFAO!

1. Literally no boss fight differentiation.

2. Cortana turning heel is Marvel's equivelent of Captain America going all 'Hail Hydra'.

3. Campaign is so focused on developing Locke that MC's levels feel like a gaiden even though he's the only son of a bitch actually chasing down the real root of anything.

4. Locke is a schmuck for about 95% of the game until Derpy McDipshit finally realizes that John might actually be about ish. You know, he only saved the human race several times in the past, it was nice to see the benefit of the doubt come just in time for the worst case of turn-heel ever.

5. Did I mention Hal Hydra?

6. You're fooling precisely no one. People are playing the game for the MP. Can that not be good enough, or do you need to retcon this game back to being a flaming turd just so we can talk about the campaign some more? Jesus H Christ, now I want to backhand a kitten. You lemmings can't take a single thing on the chin this generation which is why you're getting wrecked so hard. Asking you to settle on one shortcoming is like walking on water or something.

Congratulations on not being able to say it's Halo's best campaign though. Wow, in the marketplace of ideals, I used the grabby hand and pulled out a plastic necklace instead of getting nothing. Aren't you just the pantheon of unbiased and honest gaming. How could a filthy "cow" like me ever compete.

@Shewgenja: you're the one who looks like an idiot for taking Halo's story seriously in the first place. As a video game, you know, the medium discussed on this forum, it plays pretty damn well. Again, you might be able to comment on that gameplay, but there's that whole playing it part.

I was not planning on playing this game, but Microsoft gave away a free week of it. And damn I was impressed. I liked the campaign, played through on co-op met some other cool gamers, and had fun with it. I never really liked the story of Halo much, it is pretty cheesy. Only played 2 and Reach previously. But I liked this one, gameplay and pace was excellent.

Then the multi player, it's amazing. Enough to keep busy and fun for a year, and it's all included with the game!

Those bashing it, it's clear you never played it to those of us that have.

You're just regurgitating other peoples gripes as your own.

Or you just don't like good FPS games.

@Shewgenja: it's not objectively a bad campaign, not by any means. If you didn't play it, just say that.

LMFAO!

  • The game doesn't need boss fight differentiation, the Warden Eternal is intended to create an atmosphere of despair and a fight you cannot win, a foe that will never stop and one that can never be killed.
  • Cortana is not turning towards some crazed faction, she's essentially taking on the role of the Reapers in Mass Effect, she see's the bigger picture that no one else can comprehend after being exposed to the Domain.
  • You may play as Locke more but the whole game is about John & Cortana, it's actually an interesting take on the story which I enjoyed because you're not privy to information you traditionally would be, you're a third party looking in on something you don't yet fully understand.
  • It doesn't matter what John did or did not do in the past or whether he's saved the galaxy multiple times, he's in the military and he went AWOL, he needed to be found and his motivations needed to be brought to light.

Halo 5's campaign is not the best, but saying it is the worst is also not a negative because it's not actually bad, it's just not as good as some of the others. Halo 5's campaign is like a Lamborghini Gallardo in the Lambo family, it's no Aventador, Murcielago or Reventon, but it's still a Lamborghini.

Have you played the campaign or have you concluded your opinion based on reading on the internet?

The Halo 5 campaign is pretty darn (let's be kind, and say) repetitive. You fight one boss for the entire game, but they make up for this by having you fight him, what?, 5-7 times? One time they throw you a curve ball and have you fight the boss two times at once! Game changer!

I'll never say its Halo's best campaign. Its definitely the weakest. I merely asked someone who is stating it is utter shyte if they have come to this conclusion through experience (if so why is he talking about scooping it up?) or if it is internet reading experience which is also skewed by the fact he is a cow.

Moo..

No, seriously, you think we don't objectively know that Halo 5's campaign is a watery corn-ridden back alley shyte? It's not a secret. Heaven help me if you come back with "This isn't the same as actually playing it.." because I will backhand a kitten and it will be your fault.

Yes I do believe that. Mainly because its all subjective to your tastes and preferences. I don't believe human beings are capable of objectivity when it comes to subjective forms of entertainment. A persons personal preferences are going to play a part in the assessment.

You feel comfortable beating up pussies that's not my problem. Its an interactive medium and you're removing the interactive part and telling me your assessment is as valid as those that have played it.

You don't need actual solidified numbers, when someone says "~5 million" there's a small margin of error for give or take hence the application of the tilde.

The game was slightly below or slightly above 5 million sold-through at the end of January.

Yes we do when the company in question already lied trying to pass as sold to consumer $400 million when in reality those $400 millions were shipped to stores and included downloadable content, controllers,Halo $500 dollar bundles and all that crap, trying to pad Halo 5 numbers by accounting as sold what they shipped to retailers and is the only reason why Halo 5 is $34 dollars on amazon when in 2008 Halo 3 wasn't period.

Halo 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>> Halo 5 sales wise by a truck load oh and MS didn't have to make the game free for every one to play for a few days so that people play test the game in hopes of selling some copies..lol

I already read that you fool yes 16.5 played the game because it was free for a few days to try.

So yeah not that impressive at all what it does show is that people have try the game but not many has buy it,do you think all this Halo 5 talk and questioning and rotten mean prices are because the game did great.? Hahahaaa

Just like MS refuse to talk about numbers all this is in response to lower than expected sales.

That 16.5 million is counting the number of people playing a part of the game since launch.I need to double check if that pic that has the 16.5 million number on it was only referring to the forge mode or if it was referring to the actual amount of people that played the game since launch.People on GAF think it refers to the actual amount of people that have been playing the game since launch. If true this number is also counting people that have multiple xbox live accounts on one xbox one that have all played the game. Some of these accounts may be alt accounts of another person's xbox live account which has xbox live gold access.

Just think of how healthy the game would be if it were on the PC.

CS GO and Overwatch exist. No one would give a damn about it.

That's false mems. Uncharted 4 outsold Halo 5.
