Halo 5 Impressions

Just watched a vid of multiplayer (Arena) on The Rig. Here it is.

That got me pumped to play some multiplayer again. Haven't done so in so long, I think I'll actually work at it here.

The shooter genre is saturated on consoles, meaning Halo has lots of competition, thus making your "opinion" pretty stupid. Also Halo games were never graphics exhibitionists and they don't focus on realism. The fact that you want Halo to go for that obviously proves that you play Halo games for the wrong reasons.
Also if you still think the xb360 version of Crysis 2 looks better than Halo 5 then I won't try to change your mind since it's your own opinion.

My opinion though: When you punch Elites in the face it looks better than it does in Crysis 2. Why ? Well, Crysis 2 doesn't have Eltes that you can punch in the face and also it doesn't even have one Spartan. So it's obviously a 2/10 "would never play again" game. Deal with it.

This is my counter to your "Halo should get realistic graphics (when it clearly shouldn't) because it needs to look like a graphics exhibition" opinion.

Besides, of course, the entirely new set of movement abilities, Spartan fire team mechanic and weapons.

If you ignore or discount all of the new things, there is indeed nothing new.

Halo 5 looks awesome. The 60fps was a smart move. Gameplay looks smooth & fun as hell.

I may have to pick up an Xbox One for this.

Because it was created with Unreal 4 Engine... Everything competes, it doesn't work with that you have to subscribe to try to win it... They chose who wins the award, based on who showed the Best Real-Time Graphics. Not sure what you don't understand about it...

The interactive demo and cinematic are rendered at 30Hz in Unreal Engine 4 on a desktop PC.

That should tell enough...

This whole split screen debate is hilarious. It's 2015. Most people I know have jobs, girlfriends, and other hobbies. No one has time for a co-op marathon lol. We can fire a game up online and play for a hour or so. Also, I've never came across split screeners that are good in games. They tend to walk into the wall because one of them doesn't know how to play.

Classic Rob damage control. If an engine's developer chooses to skip for whatever reason? Doesn't give a presentation? That itself draws down the potential selection pool.

Until I see a shortlist of nominees or potential winners this is basically the technical equivalent of a Best of Gamescom award.

Not that I care about shooters or split screen but I'd imagine gamers had jobs, girlfriends, and other hobbies back in the day as well. Also, playing on line is a time contraint that can't be done at your job, shouldn't be done to the point of ignoring relationships, and does not preclude people having other hobbies now either. Basically your post said nothing substantive.

Now if you lamented the diminishing returns on the cost or the less than ideal screen to play multi player on.....those are fair points. Not your examples though...........

And how games and/or presentations were there at SIGGRAPH?

@LJS9502_basic: Everyone I knew played split screen when we were kids with less responsibilities. Playing online has no restraint. If my friends and I only have a hour to play together its the perfect choice. Otherwise we would have to drive for 15-20 mins, play for 10 mins and leave. Makes perfect sense because online play can work around a busy schedule and save/add more game time.

What went wrong? Xbox One exclusive winning best real-time graphics? Halo 5 Guardians seems to be extremely epic, and will be out in 1 month? Yeah it's all going wrong for me, with such much winning for the Xbox One. You can win sales, it does so much for you at the moment, I'll be gaming ;)

And then he deflects to his rehash shooter (one of the few games he'll get this year after nine months of waiting) when he realises he cannot feasibly defend his already weak position concerning Ryse's technical equivalent of the Best Of Gamescom awards.

Oh poor cow is sad about the lack of games on his system. Since this is a topic about Halo 5, yes I discuss Halo 5, but keep trying to defelect it into something it's not. I know how insecure you cows get when we mention Halo. Keep trying though ;)
