Out of all the fanbases, Halo fans get the most flak, IMO. I don't know why this is, but I don't see anybody else being criticized for just LIKING a game, as much as Halo fans.

I do agree they are the most criticized. You have to look at who is critizing them. Not saying this as fact, but I can bet my money on that majority of the Halo fans are new to console gaming (between 5-6 years). I think the vets of gaming critizing them for not seeing that Halo is a great game, but diffentely not amongst the greatest.

there is a difference between a handful of children games and a ton on the Wii's, I can go to gamespot right now go to the wii section close my eyes and more often than not take a game that little billy ray can play, do that in the 360 section you will be lucky to grab a game like viva pinata.
even the 360 needs a few kiddy games, but you have to admit there are a lot, and I mean a lot of games for the younger crowd on the Wii.

I get flamed for liking Elderscrolls games with Oblivion in perticular, although I only get intensly flamed, whilst Halo fans are nailed to the cross, covered in boiling oil, set on fire while watching their children get skinned alive and their wife get raped and their pets get beaten to death with clubs.
I think it's also because so many casuals like it. Just look at all the casual games out there and the way they are usually crucified. GTA, Halo, Gears of war... People here usually claim they have 'better' taste in games then others, but the fact is there will always be someone thinking it's the best game because they actually feel like that.

Oh dear god....another Halo fan acting like people are crucifying them because they don't believe Halo is the best game to ever exist within the genre. Final Fantasy, Sonic, Mario, Zelda, Metal Gear Solid..all of those fanbases receive equal or greater crap from the forums.
Halo is highly polished FPS, with some well implemented features, it's also one of the most noob friendly FPS's ever.
But I still think there are much better FPS's, UT2004 is one for sure- the mod community really brings out the potential of online FPS's and the real future of gaming is giving users the power to add on to the game effectively.

ive heard too many people praise halo as the best game ever despite these kids never touching a pc fps in their life granted, a good co op campaign on consoles can make up for a lot of pc advantages it was always the kids who only played racers and sports games mostly who went really crazy for halo...

I think I figured it out. You see, the best game ever for some people can be defined differently. It may not be the most precise, tactical, perfectly designed videogame they've ever played. For them, it could be the game that they had the best, most fun, exhilarating experience playing. So maybe that's why many people consider it the best game ever. Because for them, it was the most fun they've EVER had playing a videogame.

I think I figured it out. You see, the best game ever for some people can be defined differently. It may not be the most precise, tactical, perfectly designed videogame they've ever played. For them, it could be the game that they had the best, most fun, exhilarating experience playing. So maybe that's why many people consider it the best game ever. Because for them, it was the most fun they've EVER had playing a videogame. Under that definition, Halo 2 serves as MY Game Of All Time.....but that's only my opinion...I dont flame someone if they don't like Halo and Halo 2...
Because 14 year olds on thesims2.com are more mature than a lot of WoW players. They say 'please' and 'thank you'. Not running around being ninja looters and whining when the raid group gets wiped. TekkenMaster606

I do agree they are the most criticized. You have to look at who is critizing them. Not saying this as fact, but I can bet my money on that majority of the Halo fans are new to console gaming (between 5-6 years). I think the vets of gaming critizing them for not seeing that Halo is a great game, but diffentely not amongst the greatest. That's just a ignorant thing to say. Halo is one fo the highest scoring FPS on GS and it's in the top ten at GR, it is critically acclaimed series and sells millions upon millions. What would make a game among the greatest in there genre? It can't be reviews cause Halo has that, it can't be sales cause Halo has that too and it can't be fanbase cause Halo also has that. People just hate it cause it's popular just like they hate on GTA. These are critically acclaimed games and they treat them as if they were garbage, that same person would turn around and flame the hell out of someone for not like the games that he likes. It's like a band who's fans turn on them if they become popualr, it's thing to do now adays.
