Well... I must say that I can't stand it when I have that guy on my side shooting fruit and chasing around a butterfly while our team struggles to compete. That said though, yeah that's pretty bad. Hopefully the gameplay, maps, modes, and variety are better.
This is the effort put into their biggest franchise for 20 years. This is what they told us to be a Halo reboot with a brand new engine. I just don't get it. Graphics, physics, animations and particle effects are all ancient af. Was this game supposed to come out before Halo 5 or something? This thing looks like its from around 2013.
I never spent 1 second of my time this weekend while playing multiple hours in the technical test shooting fruit... I did not realize that was the objective.

I hope kids don't go shooting up farmers markets after playing this game.... but yeah, that's really bad. This is what happens when a game goes straight to gamepass. Kinda like a straight to DVD movie. 6/10
This is silly. But it also makes me wonder how this game was supposed to come out 9 months ago. I REALLY want to see what the game looked like the month before they delayed it. What did that look like? (besides Craig's texture-less face)
it will get better, I mean ive never seen fruits in a halo game before so this is super interesting to me...im more used to seeing just boring steel structures everywhere. The developers probably didn't get around to the fruit physics yet, its not something they've done before in halo. This is actually one of my complaints with halo, the environments are usually too simplified. Right now the team is getting the full game finished first without any major bugs. The overall physics engine is of course important to the game, but small transient objects like these fruits are usually left to last. Why even compare to copy and paste COD, a game that has basically kept the same engine and made minor improvements over the past 20 years in its yearly releases? Halo is different, its the flagship of the xbox console and it has to have a brand new engine on every release. COD gets away with putting out shit every year like clock work.
What needs to be "fixed" exactly? Yeah it doesn't look great, but what impact does it have on the actual game or overall presentation?
It's cool when developers include nice details like fruit exploding realistically when shot, but lets not act like a game is automatically bad or has something wrong with it because it's lacking these nice but ultimately meaningless details.

After playing the beta, I came out impressed. But I too thought the same thing. Just imagine if they released both the campaign and multiplayer last year without any testing. Would have been extremely bare bones and unoptimized. They've put a ton of polish and detail into it since then.
Not a big deal either way but in this case it's particularly pointless given that the tech test released over the weekend was an actual tech test, the software was definitely rough around the edges, the UI is certainly in need of tweaking and the test even came with a list of known bugs, so reported feedback wouldn't report issues already known to the dev team. I know we're used to beta's really being demo's but in this instance 343 actually used the beta test format for its' intended purpose (as well as a marketing tool).

Probably set up a banana division after seen the reaction, pump those MS resources into fruit physics.

Sony fans have been so desperate to find just something to latch onto and hate on after the overwhelming positive reactions to the beta. Expect banana memes.

I'm amazed this comparison hasn't been updated since the PC version arrived. I won't lie, I enjoy HZD more so than BOTW but still, they are both good games.
