Ok here is the problem after about 2 weeks it is totally boring. The reason for this is we are so used to games having a good upgrade system and Reach falls short of this. You see it is all cosmetic. Once you find the style you like you will most likely keep the look and not even worry about buying other armor cosmetic upgrades.
You really have no desire to try and keep upgrading. If you could mod you weapons with better power aim or gernades or stuff like that then this would have great staying power as an online shooter. It just offers far to little in comparison to games like COD in this aspect.
I think people are already getting bored of the Halo Reach online and when COD BO drops it's going to take over and be the game that has the staying power.
Lightning upgrade is 2000000. That would keep me busy...uhh....
Birthday Party death sound is easily worth the lolz it will bring.
I'm only 1/3 of the way there and I've spent maybe 2k of my credits to get there faster.
Halo 3 had excellent staying power, and a game that offers a lot more should only improve on that aspect.
[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]"Players (24H): 1,977,671" That's nearly 2 million unique players within the past twenty-four hours. Already getting bored, eh? Doesn't look like it.MortgageMan007
Oh I know Halo will always have a big online community it will not be dead like games like KZ 2 or anything. What i'm saying is the games like COD have the better staying power especially over the long haul.
COD has better staying power yes. That is why they make new one every year and everyone that played teh previous one jumps ship. Maybe Its jsut you, maybe you suck and are the boring person.

Stopped taking you seriously there, these aren't the kinda games with staying power. Mario, Starcraft, Zelda, WoW are a few series that have staying power, they've proven the test of time, Call of Duty only stays popular because of teenagers who buy the new one every year, in 15 years it won't be a fondly remembered series.

No I'm pretty good I rank decently ever round I play.
I assume you mean stuff that CoD/BF does. Where the noob starts with nooby weapons and the people who have been playing it have the best weapons. No, I hate that kinda system. In Halo, I can be level 50 or level 1 and I still have the same weapons as you so I stand a chance. And almost 2M unique players would like to disagree with you thereFunconsoleTrue, but I still like customising my weapons more than starting with the same weapon. You can customise your armour in Reach but pretty much everyone looks the same when it comes down to Red vs Blue, and doesn't effect your character stats in any way :( Would have been cool like that, but easier to balance when everyone starts off the same, but then it also comes down to the power weapons and whatnot.

and your rating for arena would be what 1200?? 1300??
Halo 3 had no upgrade system at all, and it had tremendous staying power.
Am I really supposed to believe that the addition of even just a cosmetic upgrade system is going to result in LESS staying power?
There just isn't any logic in here is there?
While I'll probably be done with the online soon, I know for a fact I'll be playing split screen all the time and enjoying it for years at random lan parties. That's the thing about Halo that other franchises need to take a lesson from: it's accessibility. We can play with 8 people on a whole two 360's.
It's called making a multiplayer that people play despite no perks or progression.
789shadow
There is progression, you can still unlock new items to equip on your spartan for the looks. Which I am more than fine with :) It is a much better alternative than actually giving one player an advantage over the other. But yes, you play multiplayer to have fun, not to level up your virtual soldier. And if you play it for them "level ups" you are doing it wrong.
[QUOTE="SpArKs424"]
well halo 3 is still being played by thousands of people and it lacks all that . doesnt even have run so i think this only regards you .
MortgageMan007
I bet COD4 has way more still playing online the Halo 3
last time i checked Halo 3 had way morereach is my first halo game and i enjoy it...i just dont understand the whole armor upgrading..it doesnt show in multiplayer right?
cee1gee
No it does but really the only thing you can see while you are alive is the wrist piece and knee guards. Also Halo 3 had far less customization and it still lasted a long time so why would this game fade away faster?
What makes COD have staying power? The fact that you can reset your rank? That's silly.
All online games have staying power equal to that which the community that plays them thinks they do. I don't like Halo, so I don't/wouldn't play it. I like KZ2 so I do/would play it. COD is one of those games that I'll play it from time to time while disliking it, just so I can have recent ammunition for bashing it.

I meant meaningful progression. Looks are just presents. :P
I'd rather have a balanced game than be able to unlock new "perks." The kind of crap ruins the whole "skill based" thing. I wish it would go die somewhere.

Halo has one of the biggest fan followings. Halo 3 is still played tremendously as well over the past 3 years. Your opinion on "staying power" is not a fact.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]"Players (24H): 1,977,671" That's nearly 2 million unique players within the past twenty-four hours. Already getting bored, eh? That sounds better. Halo Reach will be being played for a long time,by lots of gamers, but you're right, when COD BO drops, Halo Reach will lose some of it's online community. I never was into the Halo multiplayer anyways, I liked it more for the campaign. Halo Reach is still a great enjoyable game, with lots of features, and will continue to be played for a very long time. Halo 3 is still being played like crazy, so I wouldn't think Reach would be any different.[QUOTE="SpArKs424"]

Dude, it's Halo, there won't be ,and never will be, custom weapons to offer advantages like CoD
Let Halo do it's thing and let CoD do it's thing

no they don't, they don't change anything they just add a few maps here and there, bungie will updates the playlists and it has forge,[QUOTE="Bogie_19th"][QUOTE="jsh020"]I think it will stay because it felt nothing like Halo 3. Substantially improved, amazing gameplay and online features and has some awesome game modes. It is an 11/10 for me. If you think Halo Reach, an FPS game, is worth an 11/10 not only is your taste in games abysmal but you can't have played any other game rated A+Reach is better than mgs4.:Pit all cpomes down to oppinion.
for example i dont think it has staying power becouse the game felt identical to halo 3
the halo formula has shown its flaws now
the online hasnt changed at all since 2
and firfight has been overused so much in every game ever(survival games).
it realy was a pure 5/10 for me.

Wouldn't that be terrible, and the worst thing a balanced online shooter could do?
It would reward people who've played longer/farmed more points than everyone else, and ensure that every firefight takes place on uneven footing. The game already has enough variety in terms of weapons, abilities and vehicles - why screw that all over by making the guy who's played for 50 more hours better than everyone else?
I don't think we have any numbers outside the $200 million day one sales... 200,000,000/60= 3,333,333.33 that equals about half of that the first day.[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]
[QUOTE="Santesyu"]didn't over 7 mill buy the game?dovberg
What about the Limited, Legendary and Console copies?
We'll have real numbers soon enough.
I think the cosmetic armour upgrades really suck.
Do they even transfer in game with you? I didn't notice my character looking any different after buying a bunch of upgrades...
And even if they do, the game's first person.
Credit system is sort of a huge waste of time.

 What? The GAME is the reason people continually go back to Halo. Halo 3 was played until Reach dropped, nonstop, and I bet it is still being played today.
The upgrade system is the dumbest thing to implement into fps games! Why make it so some players have better characters than others? Thats lame, and a major reason MW2 is so terrible.
