Halo: Reach Will Be Biggest Game Of 2010, Microsoft Says - this juicy. :P

With 2009 nearly finished and a huge year for gaming on the horizon, it should perhaps come as no surprise that Microsoft product management director Aaron Greenberg is staking his claim early. Speaking with Gamasutra, he said Halo Reach will be "the biggest game of 2010."

Greenberg began by wondering aloud whether Gran Turismo 5has a chance of launching in 2010, "Is it launching next year? I've seen years and years of minigames, but I haven't seen that the game's done. They just released the PSP version -- maybe that's what they've been working on."

He continued, "I feel confident that there's nothing that will compare in size. Halo Reach will be the biggest game of 2010."

Assuming it does arrive in 2010, Halo Reach will indeed be a huge release for Microsoft. However, it faces major competition, including StarCraft II, God of War III, and Final Fantasy XIII. All three are highly-anticipated releases, with Final Fantasy XIII being a multi-platform release.

Halo Reach isn't due for almost a year yet, but it's never too early to start speculating. Do you think Reach will make good on Greenberg's prediction?

They say that about every Halo release and considering the game's popularity, they can get away with it.

MS puts too much stock into their Halo brand. Why can't they market their other games well, instead of falling back on Halo? It baffles me. I know Halo is a money maker, but wouldn't they want their other properties to do well too? Meh, oh well.

Microsoft need "new exclusive" some players are FPS players but some of them are really rare to find its exclusive and wish upon a star on multiplatform

Too soon to say on gameplay (nothing shown), but in terms of sales it surprisingly has competition. First we have GT5 (no matter the quality I could see this game grab a solid 5 million quickly, as GT series is abnormally popular :|) and FF13 (now with 2 console sales).

The biggest thing behind the entire halo franchise is the marketing campaign behind it, the games by itself...not so much.

So are you hyping sales or the actual quality of games? if you're arguing sales you've got a good argument if you are arguing quality, well...we'll just have to see about that one.

MS hyping their Killerapp? Shocking. Truly I am amazed by this amazing turn of events. It's certainly not going to be the biggest game (or shooter, or 360 game) for me next year and that's all that matters.Ace6301

It's a safe bet, there's no end to the money microsoft would put behind this to make sure it succeeds.

Lol, I understand business, and Halo IS business. I'm merely pointing out that Microsoft places too much stock on the brand and has grown complacent regarding their other properties. Halo may be killer app, but the marketing prowess MS has in its disposal could also be used for other games on the system that can find success.

Probably, though I don't think it will do as well as Halo 3, but still extremely well. It just doesn't have the "conclusive, last-stand epicness hype" that Halo 3 did. Sorta' like how Return of the King will compare to the Hobbit in box office.enterawesome

Halo Reach will possibly get most sales for 2010, GOW III will most defiantly get GOTY 2010

Going by past experience of each Halo game being pretty similar to the last, I expect it to follow this trend. But hey! I could be wrong! It could have all new characters, a new story, new setting, a new antagoist, maybe even new protagonist!

None of the Halo games have wowed me and overall come off very similar, not changing much of the formula for fear of upsetting the fans. They're decent games but not awe inspiring and if you showed me Halo 2 and said it was halo 3 the only clue I'd have to that being false is the graphics. Otherwise the games are very much the same to me.

If you like that, good for you. But they all come across as rehashes to me when it comes to story, gameplay, characters, etc.
