Going by past experience of each Halo game being pretty similar to the last, I expect it to follow this trend. But hey! I could be wrong! It could have all new characters, a new story, new setting, a new antagoist, maybe evn new protragonist!
Shyah! And monkies might fly outta my butt!

But like me you have no proof that it will have any of this. Just hope. And in my eyes, past experience tells me it likely won't. It might, but if I was a betting man I wouldn't take that bet.
But the fall of Reach IS conclusive, last-stand epicness. :) Most of the spartans got wiped out and a hero (ala Master Chief) rose from the ashes.... so to speak. Thats pretty big. if i recall correctly..weren't the master chief and the last spartans away from reach when it was attacked? Not sure. I havent read the novel, I am just going by what I have picked up from other gamers about it. But somewhere in all that mish mash... there is definitely some epicness! :D[QUOTE="JediRiff"][QUOTE="enterawesome"]Probably, though I don't think it will do as well as Halo 3, but still extremely well. It just doesn't have the "conclusive, last-stand epicness hype" that Halo 3 did. Sorta' like how Return of the King will compare to the Hobbit in box office.lawlessx

Just to be on the safe side, you should start on some rear end exercises, strengthen that backside up. That way, it could lessen the damage. Monkeys can be a bit.... chaotic. :D[QUOTE="lawlessx"]if i recall correctly..weren't the master chief and the last spartans away from reach when it was attacked? Not sure. My god, if Microsoft says it will be the biggest game of 2010 then it gotta be.....oh wait....you really actually listen to what MS says?
Yankees718
if Ms puts a marketting budget and builds anticipation for it like they have done with Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3. Then yeah it will be one of the bggest games, I'm not sure about the biggest but the hype was huge for the previous iterations
We must be at a dairy farm because I see a lot of milkage going on. However, the milk spoiled a long time ago.

MW2 didnt need that "finish the fight" hype to be ultra successful and pretty much a household name to everyone this year. It just needed to be a great sequel with an amazing track record for a great competitive mp, as well as the next big game IW is making.
ODST was 500,000 copies short of outselling Halo 3 in one day (Halo 3 sold 2.5 million in one hour, ODST sold 2 mil) and it wasnt even that hyped. We all knew it was more of a great expansion, but we all bought it anyway due to the fact that we cant get enough of Halo and it was a Bungie made game. Just think how crazy Reach hype will be, especially if it really is as amazing as the critics are saying at the moment (VGA's here we come!)
What do you expect Microsoft to say? 'Our biggest, most marketable IP shall be the smallest release of the year, that will fly under the radar of gamers everywhere'. As for Reach's quality? Well its Bungie, it should be decent, duh.skrat_01Always love these type comments. But yes, it's wierd, I expected them to say that word for word and this article shocked  the hell outta me but hey, you know I haven't a clue bout these fancy shmancey video games stuff.
Oh and the," It's Bungie, it should be decent " comment seems like your counting the chickens ya know I mean it could suck like all the past Halo games so, may have been safer for you to to say, it won't suck as bad as the previous games.....just sayin. :P
I will take that bet. It probably will be the highest selling game next year, unless GeOW3 comes out. Then again Halo will still probably be the biggest selling game next year.
I am quite shocked - the Halo stuff was predictable but what I thought would get Booo's and flames and why I said it's juicy is for these kind of comments from Aaron:
"Greenberg began by wondering aloud whether Gran Turismo 5has a chance of launching in 2010, "Is it launching next year? I've seen years and years of minigames, but I haven't seen that the game's done. They just released the PSP version -- maybe that's what they've been working on."
He wonders if GT5 will launch in 2010 and Teh .... Minigames he says. :o

I believe what they're saying, but not just because Microsoft says so; it's because it seems very likely to me that Halo: Reach will sell the most units in 2010. Face it, the only game, currently scheduled for release in 2010, that could compete with Halo: Reach in sales is Final Fantasy 13.My god, if Microsoft says it will be the biggest game of 2010 then it gotta be.....oh wait....you really actually listen to what MS says?

Halo huh?? from wat i hear u need natal to play this thing. And also im not really a big fan of Halo. No FFXIII is the biggest game next year for mereaver-x:lol: No. Yeah, there may be NATAL features but your won't NEED it to play at all. Thats just silly talk
Pretty much agree with this. Halo 3 pretty much destroyed it all, a game made for the casuals. Bungie gave a big two fingers to its existing fan base which had been built from Halo:CE and Halo 2. ODST was a way of saying 'kay guys we can make darkerz games' ... and to all intents and purposes ODST was OK. Doesn't matter how big the hype for reach is I certainly won't be buying into it too quickly, is this game made for 'dumb' casuals or is it actually a throwback to the original halo games made for REAL gamers.... highly unlikely I think.HYPE FTL. Halo lost its essence since and after Halo 3.

New Halo's are always great for a couple of reasons. One, I do love the series and the games are always fun. Two, its always interesting to see the marketing blitz that MS rains down upon us all. And three, its hilarious to see the damage control when the game scores well and cows cry.
either way I can't wait for it, ODST was such an incredible game, and having read the Reach novelisation I CANNOT WAIT for this game. I just hope they do some good marketing. And I really hope they do another game later on to deal with what happened to Master Chief and Cortana. Such an awesome franchise despite what all the COW's say.

Yup, the Halo fans had nothin but disappointment with Halo 3.
:P
I'm wondering whether or not this is going to be released before Spring 2011. I know they're shooting for the end of 2010, but I just don't know. How long has it been in development? Do any of us know?musicalmacClaiming to show all in game stuff on the planet Reach at the VGA makes me feel better about a 2010 launch. That and the fact ( me thinks :P ) that Gears 3 will be announced for a 2011 date. I think Reach will indeed make it's appearance in the 2010 gaming year. :)

That's a good point, they are showing in-game footage. It's pretty exciting. :P
Plus they have nearly another entire year to get it done, so I suppose you're right. We'll find out, though.
And Gears 3, I had forgotten all about that... Delicious.

Yeah the biggest game on a Console that isn't a racing game! :D

someone is forgetting Final fantasyyyyy
Reach is going to destroy FF in sales and hype, despite FF being multi.
