Halo Wars is looking amazing -- built from the ground up for the 360 -- and supposedly, we may see a downloadable demo soon. Can't wait, what do you think?

Personally, I thinkthe graphics sure look nice. The animations on the units and the overall visual effects look fantastic. This could beat out Command & Conquer, especially considering it was designed for 360.

well.. i mean its competition is command and conqueor on and lord of the rings battle for the middle earth 2, but then endwar and world in conflict might make the standards higher, but definitely seems like a great game and a great exclusive for the 360 in 08.

thats a bit harsh, its not like past console RTSs have scored badly or anything i mean command and conquer got a 8.7 thats a pretty good score... its not like GS gives those type of scores to bad game.

There is no Company of Heroes or World in Conflict demo on XBOX LIVE so the hermits who came in here to troll obviously didn't read the title of the thread. BEST CONSOLE RTS. Not best RTS ever. I'd have to play HALO WARS before I could make that judgement I played the demos for both EA RTS on 360 and I didn't buy either of them. I'll probably get C&C3 when the price drops down to about $30.

If it lets me actually draw a box around the units I want to select, it's already better than C&C 3 or LotR: BFMEII.

Playing those games on 360 actually made me upgrade my PC.

Hopefully between Halo Wars and EndWar we'll get a true representation of a "good" RTS on the current generation.

...and I'd love to see Wii RTS titles. Sure the graphics aren't that great...but it could, and should work like a charm.

I think Halo Wars will have a tough time being better than Pikmin 2. Don't forget about that game people. It scored a 9.2 here and may be the highest rated console strategy game ever.

I think that Halo should stay as an FPS. Bungie is just trying to milk more money out of the Halo Universe, and put the characters into an RTS

Halo Wars is not acccurate. The elites aren't supposed to be with the covenant anymore. They show the elites in the cgi with the covenant.

They need to keep the lore straight.

yes they do...a Unit cap limits the amount of strategies that are useable......C&C3 for the 360 had a tiny unit cap....as for online....C&C3 for the 360 was also limited to 4 players online....now some people may prefer that little....but its a lot worse then getting to choose.

Remember, I said on a console. But seriously, Halo Wars is looking very polished, especially considering that it's on a console. I'm a fan of Company of Heroes as well, and of RTS's in general, so I'm looking forward to this one.

I am saying World in Conlfict will be the best console RTS. Better then Halo Wars. I think the controls will be better, and I think the gameplay will be better regardless of scale. I am not a troll for disagreeing with you.

how so? part of what makes WIC so good is the 16 player online...it allows for larger battles, and much more strategies between teams..since those are dedicaded servers the game runs on...its fair to assume that the 360 version wont have 16 player online..probably at most 8.

and the maps are designed for 16...empty games play badly....they even put features into the game that help fill and maintain full servers.

You can't just assume that it will be limited to 8 players because it is on the Xbox 360. They wouldn't port a game over, lower the players and keep the maps. That wouldn't make sense. I am sure they will support 16 players on the Xbox 360.

why?

C&C3 only supported 4 on the 360...while the PC version did 8....

the PC version runs on dedicaded servers...not on P2P...and XBL doesnt use dedicaded servers.

Ha ha, true. And I'm willing to take flack for this. Obviously, the hermits poured in here like a tsunami when they saw my title. But I am saying "console" RTS, and like some people pointed out, the competition isn't necessarily fierce.

Command and Conquer on the 360 was a great game, but many reviewers pointed out that it suffered some problems -- primarily with its difficulty -- due to being designed as a PC game first. With Halo Wars, this isn't the case, so I'm thinking since the game will be designed to suit the 360 from the get go, that could give it a substantial advantage.

That is one game, not all games. It has been proven that if a developer wants to, 16 and even more players can be supported. Why is it any different for World in Conflict? And even if they can't get 16 people, which they most likely can, why on earth would they leave the maps the way they are, just to have them be half full and boring? That makes even less sense. If anything, they will make new maps for the Xbox 360 to make sure it plays well.

because its an RTS...which seem to be more demanding to servers.

16 players on the PC can be done through P2P just fine (hell, it can do even more)

but apparently it cant with an RTS cause they seem to be more demanding.

Ill take Starcraft 2 anyday.

It's going to be hard for me to enjoy an FPS in the near future with Company of Heroes around. That game is just way too good for its own good. It's to the point where I downlaoded the World in Conflict demo yesterday, and playing through it just made me want to exit out and start up Company of Heroes, heh. WiC was still quite good, though, with some extremely impressive explosion effects.

But Company of Heroes is the best RTS ever. You just can't really mess with that game. It's also, IMO, both better-looking (the DX10 version) and just plain better than any next-gen console game released before Bioshock.

Yes, but I still think Halo Wars will be better, at least so far as both games perform on the Xbox 360.

Halo was originally conceived as an RTS, but it was later made into an FPS. This isn't milkage, this is Halo the way it was originally envisioned.
