[QUOTE="ghost392"] LOL they could have a one touch screen and lol at MPH being unplayable with one screen when Metroid Prime uses oneghost392

Metroid prime uses a controller. It is also on a TV screen several times LARGER THAN CAN FIT IN YOUR POCKET.

LOL really... Rpgs like FF6 etc are on the GC when they were on the bigger SNES... that is a bad excuse

Final Fantasy 6 was never on the Gamecube. But if you mean the GBA the answer to that is simply that its far easier to convert a sprite game to a smaller screen than it is to convert an FPS where full range of view is needed.

Worked fine on one screen and pokemon zelda , advanced wars and MPH would work just fine as well

TWEY could be edited and given similar gameplay maybe have a dash in the middle of screen and see the two fight and imo this would be even better as you dont have to look up look down etc.

ghost392

Metroid Prime Hunters? What? How would it work with 1 screen? Would you want the screen you use to aim your gun to be the same screen in which you view the game? Your view would be totally obscured.

They could include a control stick like they are doing with the 3DS because Stylus is the worst type of controls for FPS I have played.

I think it is personally as the best games use it minimally for the most part and they could have made 1 touch screen instead of two screens.

All the touchscreen games for the most part dont use the upperscreen either and it would not only have eliminated hinge cracks but had best graphics as well and probably a bigger screen.

ghost392

I think it if were a single touch screen the size of the two screens together, pretty much like an iPhone to be honest, but still with the buttons and d-pad at either side too then yes that would have been much better than having the two separate screens imo.

I'm kinda hoping the new 3DS is a single large touch screen that folds in the middle, like this, but that's probably just wishful thinking.

For everyone that doesn't quite get it...the single double size screen could still show two separate halves like the current DS but it would just be on a single screen and it would mean you could either use the full screen for larger displays or half the screen for games where you might want to have touch controls on one half, or a map display or whatever.

As usual, it's not rocket science.

KB/M > Stylus > DA > Wii-mote

Maybe it's just me but I think the stylus is really not that much worse from the M/KB.

Anyway, The second screen is very helpful in most games. If I had to pause the game every few seconds to see the map in Etrian Odyssey, I would really hate the game.

Stylus is pretty much the same as a Mouse: touch screen is the mouse pad, styles is like moving the mouse around. Problem with the DS is that it is low resolution so you can't aim it as accurate as a mouse.

Is what I was trying to say without people getting worked up. What you said though makes me want to look forward to the 3DS even more to see how much more accurate they make it.

It wasa great idea. The system already was a clamshell, so the extra space was there. And thanks to it, it avoided biggest iPhone problem. Touch-screen only controls are anyoing enough, but with iPhone it's even worse, as the controls and your own fingers occupy large portion of the screen, leaving little space for actual action.

So yep, it was a great idea. Plus most games benefited from it. Whather it was a huge advantage or not...depends on your point of view, but even in games that just used it as inventory/map it made the game more pleseant experience. Plus there are titles that made brilliant use of it. Like HotelDusk - brilliant game that just wouldn't be the same on iPhone or any other handheld

You need to stop. Seriously, you will never win. The iPod Touch is the inferior gaming device, and the DS is superior. I listed a massive amount of fantastic games in that other thread, and I could keep on going. Many games require the screen, and being able to navigate or micromanage on a second screen has become vital to the DS experience. You don't know how convenient it is doing such things on the second screen until you take your fanboy goggles off.

WOW the KB/M is infinately better considering their is much more room and you dont have to poke with the stylus... Motion is the best though imo do to infite room and natural feel

I Totally agree for example phantom hourglass the game would be ruined without 2 screens. Most games on ds would.

[QUOTE="charizard1605"]Considering that the DS's best games use both screens liberally- see The Legend of Zelda games, Pokemon HG/SS, Advance Wars, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Metroid Prime Hunters, The World Ends With You for more.ghost392

Worked fine on one screen and pokemon zelda , advanced wars and MPH would work just fine as well

TWEY could be edited and given similar gameplay maybe have a dash in the middle of screen and see the two fight and imo this would be even better as you dont have to look up look down etc.

Really man, stop clutching at straws now. Metroid Prime literally needed two screens to work- because the DS lacks any other form of analog inpit, it needed input from the touch screen. If the DS had onl;y one screen, then your hand would have been blocking the view, or the game would have had to be digitally controlled. No, MPHJ worked best with two screens. As for Advance Wars and The World Ends With You... I'm taking you've never played those games, have you? Here's a neat factoid: THOSE GAMES ARE ABOUT CONTROLLING TWO DIFFERENT BATTLES SPREAD ACROSS TWO SCREENS SIMULTANEOUSLY. There is no way the games could have been done on a single screened system. GTA Chinatwon Wars: the thing that differentiated GTA fromm the other games in the series and ensured that it was a stellar title with an identity of its own was how it juggled gameplay across two screens. Having the action on one screen would have stripped the game to a sorry shadow of what it is now. Zelda? I'm taking you've never played the DS Zelda games. The very first boss battle REQUIRES TWO SCREENS. Pokemon? I'll give you that, though the touch screen made it infinitely easier. Face it ghost, you've been on this stupid propoganda, you've put forth unconvincing arguements, and you lost. Doesn't matter. Just ensure your arguements are a bit more substantial next time.

TWEWY and Zelda says it's not useless. What's useless is constantly owning yourself with illogical DS bash threads.

I love having two screens! Having a second screen dedicated to a map and stats is brilliant especially considering how small portable game screens are.

Motion controls are much less accurate than the pen point accuracy of touch screens.

With touch screens there's no lag and stylus' are smaller and easier to control.
