Happy Birthday PS3( So how has the year gone for you?)

So the PS3's birthday is today. The PS3 was launched on Nov 11 2006. Comming off the heels of the PS2 which sold 120 million console. Ps2 also had largest game libary,most AAAE and AAE games, and generaly considered the console winner last gen. So how has the PS3 faired? Lets see.

1-No AAAE games in its first year. Also the fewest AAE games. The Wii,360, and the PC all had AAAE games and also all 3 had more AAE games then the PS3. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p7pcq78sddbXfN0A-LjKWEA&gid=2

2- Half of the year the PS3 could not even out sell the GBA in the NPD numbers. In fact NPD numbers for PS3 have never been good. PS3 has been in last place every single month when it comes to the current gen consoles.

3-Both launch skus have already been discontinued. The 20gb and 60gb are no more. Can anyone remember when another console had all its launch skus discontinued in less then a year? I sure can not.

4- The PS3 went from 95% BC to around 50% with the 80gb and now there is no PS2 BC at all for the 40gb

5- The father of the PS3 got fired Bye Krazy Ken we may not miss you but we will always remember your comments such as PS3 having 4D.

6- Many games that were ones exclusive to PS are now exclusive to other systems or multiplat unlike last gen. Devil May Cry, Ace Combat, Assassin's Creed, GTA4, Fatal Inertia, Bladestorm:The Hundred Year war, VF5, Dragon Quest, Monster hunter,

look the 360 has its lauch too...the launch of halo3. it also had a price cut and new skus...

good year for me, constant reliable gaming.

resistance kept me going pretty good. ratchet and clank, folklore, warhawk, all lasted me untill i got call of duty...and now i dont need much else gamewise for the year....but with uncharted, assassin's creed, and then finally haze finishing off the calander year i couldnt be more excited.

I ment to type PS2 go forbid I have a typo. Also the halo sku is a limited edition and even when they announced it they said that. It took almost 2 years for 360 to have price cuts. What was the first PS3 price cut around 6 months after launch and then again :lol: desperate.rybe1025

core, arcade, elite, pro, halo3 the 360 has more skus than the ps3.

the 360 also had no competition for 1 year.but 6months with competition and they dropped it.

the iPhone had a $200 price cut only a few months after launch, like the ps3 it was too expensive for most people to consider it. now look. people are buying the ps3 because its less expensive. would you rather sony keep the price at 500/600?

I doubt Sony has had that advantage everywhere else. I may be wrong, but you should post some proof along with your statement.

Nearly everyone with a playstation 2 had to replace it after it broke. and they replace the replacement a few years later, PS3 will do the same in about a year.

And the wii selling good= bad?:? though i take it you are refering to the fact it has nothing to play. and i'd still prefer it over another graphics machine like the other two, at least it gives some variety.
