What is this thread meant to do? I still own a PS3 and having fun with it. I mean if you want to list the shortcomings of the PS3 then what about the 360. With the Red Rings of Death problem Microsoft had lost a ton of money. By being sued and up till now finding out what the problem is, with 360 with the Red Rings of Death still on the shelves.

I guess people really did buy PS3s just becauseit wasthe Playstation brand. That's sad! People should buy systems because of the games that it plays...not because of the name! I loved my PS2, but bought a 360 this Gen because it had the games that I wanted to play. Plain and simple!

The truth is that the PS3 came off the most successull system of all time and failed to keep there own fans. If you look at the situation by how many people went from owning a PS2 to a 360 and how many went from owning a Xbox to a PS3. You can see that someone is getting something kicked.

Also the PS3 is over 7 million+ behind the 360. It is further behind the 360 then what the PS3 was able to sell in a entire year. The 360 would have to not sell one console at all and PS3 sell 7.42 million consoles just to catch up that is not even to pass the 360. that is 1.92 million more consoles then the PS3 was able to do in its first year off of comming from the PS2 and with all the Playstation hype.

So throw a temper tantrum all you want, when you can instead just say to yourself I'm not going to buy a PS3 and move on.

So you were better staying with GS scores even as bad as that looks for the PS3.

Yeah each console is facing it's in dilemma. There is a major shorting on Wii's and the 360 faced it with the Red Rings of Death. And the Ps3 is having a hard time selling the console. Which is hard for them to do as long as the PS2 is still around. The 360 would have suffered the same thing in my opinion if Microsoft didn't pull an end to the original xbox.

I know I'm a Nintendo fan, but I really do enjoy playing on every console, and I do recognize every consoles major faults. However, after Sony being so arrogant about their presence in the gaming industry, I can' t help but smile everytime I see some bad news about the PS3.

As far as a price cut. Sure at face value it looks like a great deal for gamer. But for a console to have to discontinue 2 skus and have as many price cuts it has had in less then a year is not a good sign for that console in anyway you try and spin it. So yes it does show desperation for sales. Sony will now take a bigger hit on each console sold and as we all know they have already reported several billion dollar losses so far. How does the price drop effect gamers. It may not at all but it could in way of games.

Some of the ways it could are since Sony is losing a ton of cash because of the PS3 it will have a harder time securing exclusives that are not first party because they can not buy them and lets face it PS3 software sales are not going to make a 3rd party want to make a PS3 exclusive. Do not hink losing money can be waved away as easy as MS can do. As far as companies go Sony has the lowest market value of the 3 consoles. So when it comes to making new first party games, getting 3rd party exclusives , and getting multiplats all this can take effect because they are now having such low sales and also having a larger cash hit off each console now. Nothing could happen at all though.

there are lots of other arguments that make actual sense likeflaws in console or games, argue things that make sense.

2- Half of the year the PS3 could not even out sell the GBA in the NPD numbers. In fact NPD numbers for PS3 have never been good. PS3 has been in last place every single month when it comes to the current gen consoles.

You do know that NPD is for the US only right? Do you also know the ps3 has been outselling the 360 monthly in just about 
every territory including Japan and Europe? And if you've been keeping track, the PS3 has been outselling the 360 2:1 in 
Europe since the launch of the 40gig and price drop of the 80gig

3-Both launch skus have already been discontinued. The 20gb and 60gb are no more. Can anyone remember when another console had all its launch skus discontinued in less then a year? I sure can not.

With people crying for a lower pricepoint, Sony had to do SOMETHING. Do you think they can take money out of their ass and use it to lower the price of the ps3?

4- The PS3 went from 95% BC to around 50% with the 80gb and now there is no PS2 BC at all for the 40gb

the 80gig has about 75%-80% BC, much better than the 360's. And the 40gig not having any, well yeah that's a letdown for people who buys consoles to play old games

5- The father of the PS3 got fired Bye Krazy Ken we may not miss you but we will always remember your comments such as PS3 having 4D.

I'm pretty glad he left. The 4D and 120FPS was getting tiring. I rather have the games as primary focus like they're doing right now.

Why are EA sales representative of all of PS3 sales? When EA makes crappy ports with lower framerates and bad textures, it's obvious it will lose sales. Look at the new release of Call of Duty 4 on the ps3. So many people bought it and went online, that the servers went down for a day because there was too much traffic.
