You mean about the new look of Dante, personally i dont mind it at all. The gameplay was more high up my list and its got a new theme to it but still DMC at its core, i tot it was great
Downloaded it, played it, and it reminded me why DMC has always sucked to me.AmazonTreeBoa

I like the new aesthetic. It's not like the old one's were exactly stunning.
I'm not interested in the game too much, but the constant b!tching is too much. Especially considering most of the criticisms are going towards the wrong things

THAT.
@!$@!^* Fanboys, just shut it,and stop living in the past.
Get.the.HELL.over.it.
It's a really bad representation of the game. It'd be plainly mediocre if wasn't apart of the DMC line, but considering it is, it's just really bad.
I have played it quite extensively. It's the most fun I ever had with a demo and it multiplied my excitement for the game greatly. I pre-ordered the game right after playing it and it is now one of my most anticipated games of 2013.
It's just extremely fun. People just need to look at this game as its own thing. On it's own merits it's extremely good. Campare it to another well loved hack n slash such as God of War. The new DmC is far superior.

So broken style meter, broken evade mechanic, no lock on, broken scoring system, insulting difficulty and sh!tty @ss dev attitude are wrong things?I have played it quite extensively. No, you're suppose to compare it to other title in the same series, not to another entirely different franchise that combat is not the main focus in the first place.

The lock-on mechanic in the past DMC games was actually one of my biggest gripes. This new game actually allows me to attack who I want without any problems.

Do you not know what God of War is? If combat isn't the main focus of the series then why does it force you to engage in combat 90% of the time? DMC, NinjaGaiden, Bayonetta, and God of War are all in the same genre

Huh? Lock on is what defined DMC, now you don't even know who you're gonna stinger, especially with that kind of Devil Angel enemy, no lock on is gonna be messy. Also, no lock on = no directional input, which means most combos now are gonna be based solely on mid combo pause. And I can attack whoever I want with lock on without any problem, there's a switch target button for that matter. If the game involve guns, there should be lock on, simple.[QUOTE="rjdofu"]

:|, combat wasn't the main focus on GOW, it's the cinematic experience, QTE and quick, easy, brutal, non-complex gameplay. Not the deep, flexible and rewarding combat of DMC/bayonetta, or full of variety, fun and challenging combat of NG. They're of course in the same genre, but comparing combat of GOW to the likes of Bayonetta, NG & DMC is foolish.Pretty sure the majority of us have accepted the DMC franchise has been ruined. Next to nobody is hyping this game.

What i did find was the game was FUN
Also i like the theme of alternate reality for the battleground, you like Dante walking into a coffee shop and everything goes all sinister. I heard some people complain about dialog, if my memory serves me correctly, i dont think the previous ones had great dialog either and i have played all of them except DMC4
Dialogue was cheesy in the previous DMCs and wasn't that great, but in DmC... oh boy it's actually worse. Apart from an interesting choice of style in level design, everything else is just horrible. The story in the previous games wasn't much to speak of, but NT is sacrificing gameplay for a story which IMO is not going to make the game unique or up to par with the other DMCs.
This new DmC has an identity issue at this point. It doesn't play like DMC, its story is different and the characters have been changed greatly. If it wasn't called DMC and had no relation to DMC, it would've been quite an interesting GOW/HS type game. As it is, I don't remember DMC being such a simplistic game that holds you by your hand.
The demo was mediocre for a DMC game and fair if I turned off the speakers and completely forgot about the relation to DMC. Other than that style over gameplay, which I don't prefer in my games unless the style is so good that it compensates for the Heavenly Sword-like battle system(which is not the case).
The perfect example of this type of situation is with the newer Crash/Spyro games. The old had a charm to them, while the newer ones just don't have that and are flat-out trying to be something different. Banjo Kazooie was also subjected to this (ironically by their own parent), with the Nuts and Bolts game--- which is nothing fans wanted at all.
I was not very impressed with it. For starters it took me forever how to figure out how to get to the eye, the game does not explain how to use your whip grabs at all. And the enemies had very little variety in them, graphicallhy the game was not very good either. The other part of the demo where you fight the boss was a bit better though.
I realise this is the demo and all, but with God of War Acension due out next year I don't see any reason why I would bother with Devil May Cry.

You do have interesting points, but does it make the game unplayable or bad?

Good for you. I certainly didn't find that demo "fun" at all. The demo should give a good idea of how the final product will be and should there be any legit problem devs are suppose to listen and fix it. But nope, Mr. Tameem basically said fvck you complainer, the game will be released as it is, anyone can play however they wanna play. So yeah, demon evade will continue being broken as well as weapons that allow you to stay in the air, invulnerable for as long as you like without involving any skill; too many invulnerable frame when dodging + style meter never go down unless you got hit = SSS easy as pie. If the demo was that easy already, and devs aren't gonna scale up the difficulty, the further you process, the more broken it'll be.[QUOTE="AmazonTreeBoa"]Downloaded it, played it, and it reminded me why DMC has always sucked to me.megaspiderweb09

Correct.I enjoyed the demo.
It reminded me of Enslaved which I really enjoyed so I look foward to playing the game sometime after it releases.
You guys really need to accept change.
GreekGameManiac
And you really need to start thinking for yourself... when change is for good, is obviously accepted, but this is not the case.
You guys really need to accept change.
GreekGameManiac
It's a really horrible change really. I accepted it long ago, but it doesn't change the fact that I don't want to support this game after what I experienced from the demo and how the devs are treating their fanbase. The devs are being really unprofessional to the criticism also -- to a certain extent it seems like they're trying to gain negative publicity from the fans on purpose.
The whole Dante personality is completely stupid in this game. What's the appeal? Who's the target audience? It's not DMC fans that's for sure. The whole angsty personality and the flip-flop between apathetic to "emotional" don't make sense in the way it's presented. Usage of the F-bomb as many times as possible is also throwing me off. Dante just strikes me as a complete asshat/douche in this game (which I can't relate to at all), which is one of the reasons I am not sold for the story.
I would overlook the negatives with the story if the gameplay was flawless... but it's NOT. It's like they took Heavenly Sword and glued a few mechanics from DMC4. It's a complete mess as a Devil May Cry game, a complete dumbed down experience.
Imagine Counter-Strike with a class system, limited weapon choice, slow paced, regenerating health and with a focus on cliche America vs "EVIL" single-player story BS rather than multiplayer gameplay - it's not a CS game at that point, it's a game that's sporting the name to get sales while trying to appeal to a different demographic ... in other words betraying the loyal fanbase of the original games in order to grab the casual market.Razor_defiace
Yeah, only DMC is SUPPOSED to be different.
it is an ok game. Just like ninja theories other games. Also don't like holding triggers to switch weapons./
Is there a demo for the Xbox 360? I haven't been able to check yet.

It's been up for about two weeks now.
