The real current problem of PC gaming is not the games at all, but rather the ridiculous overpriced hardware components.

A decent GPU alone costs more than a console these days, and I think the cyber currency has been used for too long as an excuse to justify such prices.

- The best racing game of this gen (until Mario Karts sequel)

- Most likely the best and most popular fighting game this gen (Smash)

- Most likely the best FPS (Metriod) of this gen

- Free post-support

@zaryia: You ignored it because you had no point. WoW for an example had multiple paid expansions. It should have more content then any game because it's the only game you had to buy 6 times to get all the content.

1. Did PC's not start monthly subscriptions services true or false? This is a truth we all know. MMO's started on PC and all required monthly subscriptions. Of course the platform didn't charge to play online for all games because it wasn't a unified platform.

2. DLC and expansions are the same thing, this isn't rocket science. They use DLC because it's far easier to deliver the product to existing customers. Again shitty pre release DLC isn't specific to any platform but the practice of DLC or expansion started on PC. Not sure why you are butthurt about this. Good DLC and good expansions are not a bad thing in any way.

Just about every shitty trend started on PC. Microtransactions, free to play, monthly subscriptions etc.

I realize games can be expensive to create but at least give us some content.

Is that why you guys pay a monthly subscription to access your own internet, but we don't on PC?

Get free games with the subscription, usually way past the value of the subscription.

Hey did you see that? Another survival ALPHA game that you have to BUY.

Steam is going to shit.

You mean "free" games that you lose access to if you stop paying? You mean those games?

Sure and what happens if you lose access to steam or steam goes under? EA origins access? etc?

So, what happens when Sony, MS or Nintendo goes under? I mean how many years ago was it that Sony was selling buildings to survive?

Speaking of going under, oh wait....did Sony go under when they shutdown Tomorrow Children, GT5 servers, MLB servers etc. just after a year a game was out? So, you pay for the game, then pay to play it online and then the company takes it away and Ihaven't even begin on BC and remasters.

Oh, I get it. OP is Trump supporter and he's trying to justify the trade war tariffs affecting the cost of PC parts by trying to get people away from PC, but he's an idiot so this thread was the best he could do.

An rx 580/570 aka xbox 1x gpu nowdays after the mining craze ended costs 130-180euros. I just bought an rx 570 for 129 euros and included in the price are the upcoming resident evil 2 and devil may cry. Cpus nowdays are cheaper than ever. You can get a new ryzen 5 1600 for 140 euros. Motherboards likewise are dirt cheap. A decent b350 board is around 70 euros.

Wrong, you are misinformed. Pc gaming was never so cheap this generation unless you upgraded your PC and wanted to push far beyond what is needed.

A decent gpu is a 580 which is a 6,2tflop gpu with 8gb of memory cost you 200 bucks, used you can get them for 150 bucks with warranty here. That's all you had to upgrade if you even had a 10 year old i7 which you bought in the PS3 area.

Yep, in a world where even the first generation i7's from 2008 can manage at least 60fps in modern games you only really to change your GPU.

Huh? Fallout 76 on PC doesn't even have text chat and barely functioning FOV.

This is a console creation through and through.

Pc game, ported to consoles.

You're moving goal posts anyways.

No. This is a console developer trying to copy PC successful PC designed games such as Pubg and Fortnite. It wasn't ported from PC to consoles, it doesn't even have text chat.

Don't blame PC for this. Just like you can't blame PC for Destiny1/2 being turd when trying to copy PC genres.

Blame the shitty console oriented devs trying to match PCs magic, not PC itself. This is like blaming professional exotic dancers for a causing a fat girl to dance.

I have been meaning to upgrade, but at that price 130-180 I can only find the 4GB version. I don't know about AMD gpu's, but a gpu I've been pursuing, 1060 6 gb, used to be cheaper some years ago, or at least had proportionally better deals. The cheapest I can find now is around 270€, unless I get the 3GB, which I'd not target considering the relatively small amount of ram which may affect some current/future games.

No. Maybe in the UK. You can get an RX580 or GTX 1060 6GB for under 200 USD this BF (what is that, 140 pounds?)

129 euros and 2 games included is a great deal. All I see are prices above 250 euros for decent gpus like 580/1060, I'm talking about new cards.

Fallout 76 is the end result of Bethesda handing the reigns over to Todd Howard. Even if developers weren't flocking to alphas, they'd still be pulling this crap. Also, I don't really see the problem with alphas. Enthusiasts get early access, developers get free bug testing, and Steam gets to hype new releases. What's the problem?

I am a huge fan of early access. on paper I think it should not work, but the end result has been a boom for the kind of games I enjoy. The way I see it, as long as everyone knows they are buying a game that is not officially released then fine. If its clear and a person still doesn't understand then they should have their credit card removed from them anyway

Yup. I know there are a lot of games that are stuck in endless beta stages, but there are plenty of examples of great games that were early access. I think it's a lot different from a major publisher using day one patches. With early access, like you said, people know they're getting an incomplete game. With day one patching, it's just a cynical way for game developers (usually larger than the ones that use early access) to release incomplete games just so that they can meet an arbitrary deadline. I think people would actually be giving Bethesda a lot more credit if they billed 76 as an early release rather than promising a complete game by November, most likely to cash in on the holiday season.

@blackhairedhero:

You appear to be mistaken or engaging in strawmen. You are not discussing the specific negative trends I originally mentioned. Either you forgot my original post on are intentionally aiming to mislead.

1. XBOX started XBL, not PC. I am specifically talking about mandatory payments to play online for the ENTIRE system. A trend created on and for consoles. I never mentioned fees for singular games, I said entire platforms - please do not mislead.

2. I was very specific in the negative type of DLC I mentioned. Console oriented titles started slicing up games in the form of pre-release and preorder DLC. A clearly shitty trend, birthed on XBL. I never said Expansions, which were objectively the polar opposite of this trend - please do not mislead.

I'm done "debating" well known gaming history facts. I will simply post the compiled list from here on,

PC: Lootboxes

Console: Microtrans, Online Pass, Season Pass, System Online fees, Mod fees, scumbag DLC.

Let me know what I should add to either BS list.

2. Wrong again. PC started the Early access trash which started the trend of selling games that weren't finished.

hold on their cowboy....there is absolutely positively nothing wrong with Early Access program.

in fact, Kerbal Space Program, Wastelands 2, Divinity Original Sin, Elite Dangerous, Space Engineers, Ark, 7 Days to Die are just a few great titles that either came from or are in Steam Early Access. its actually been a huge success.

Remember thinking for yourself and making any decision about what games you like and enjoy that are not fully endorsed, in writing, by Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft is not permitted in System Wars.

@tryit: @GarGx1: Your delusions for the PC platform seem to have effected your reading comprehension. The fact is Zaryia has stated that consoles started the trend of releasing unfinished games and DLC. That is factually an incorrect statement. The PC platform started it with Early access.

Regardless of your opinion on the quality of the games or the program itself, that is irrelevant. I'm simply stating that the trend started on PC.

@blackhairedhero:

1. So to be clear, you want me to put PSN and XBL charges....in....the list of PC trends......do you know how stupid that sounds? Can you quote MS saying XBL payment was made strictly due to PC?

I am going to state the obvious until then, XBOX is responsible for XBL. Until you can quote counter evidence that remains a fact.

2. Consoles started pre-release and pre-purchase DLC. Early Access is not a DLC pack, that was a red-herring. But I will throw you a bone and add that to my list, I have seen many complain about it.

PC: Broken Early Access games, Loot Boxes.

Consoles: Microtransactions, Online Pass, Season Pass, Cut DLC, payed online for entire platform, payed mods, killing studios at the persuit of exclusives.

As for FO76 I put blame mostly BGS and then consoles, as the game appears to mostly be designed for them....unlike actually successful BRs which are designed for PC.

Pretty sure Tryit was referencing the post he quoted.

Personally though, I'm just laughing at you.

I bet most people who think they know so much about PC gaming have never even heard of the titles I often use as example, let alone if they are good or not.

they ASSUME gamespot hasnt told them about them then that must mean they are not good games, I know this because that is how I used to think

When online gaming was the exclusive domain of PC gamers, we didn't have all the crap we see today. Back then, the prices of PCs were quite high and beyond the reach of most brats. Everyone online was polite and got along.

Once PC prices tumbled and came within reach of the younger crowd (usually moving up from consoles), then the online scene just turned to sh*t. I knew it was time for me to quit.

@blackhairedhero:

I never said that. Why are almost all of your posts strawman arguments.

I agree PC started Early Access. I even added it to the PC list. I'm SPECIFICALLY saying consoles started pre-order and pre-release DLC. That is a well known console trend! And it started before early acess and is a completely different thing.

Please stop conflation to make it seem like I was wrong.

The real current problem of PC gaming is not the games at all, but rather the ridiculous overpriced hardware components.

A decent GPU alone costs more than a console these days, and I think the cyber currency has been used for too long as an excuse to justify such prices.

Depends on what you call decent. When the cryptocurrency skyrocketed the prices, sure, but I just picked up a 4gb RX 580 for $160 and it came with 2 games. Division 2 and Resident Evil 2. This GPU can do ultra in BF5 in 1080p at over 60 fps, and it effectively only cost me 40 bucks since I was going to buy both of those games.

129 euros and 2 games included is a great deal. All I see are prices above 250 euros for decent gpus like 580/1060, I'm talking about new cards.

Casekings.de. Has rx 570 and 580s for less than 200 (cheapest is 160 ). Amazon uk and de likewise. Granted i scored that rx 570 as part of black friday deal but point is you can get one for around 160-170 euros nowdays

@zaryia: 1. The argument was monthly subscriptions services. Those started on PC. You are breaking it down to platform monthly subscriptions services to avoid the fact that monthly subscriptions started on PC specifically for MMO's.

2. Again you do these Ultra specific terms to avoid the fact the PC started these things. DLC is the evolution of the expansion and when you blabber about unfinished products you forgot the PC started this with Early access.

Nvidia prices hasnt drop all that much though you can get a 6gb gtx 1060 for around 220-230 if you keep an eye on deals usually on amazon Also if you are gaming at 1080p 4 gb are more than enough . There is an MSI rx570 8gb for 175 on amazon.de though honestly a 4gb rx580 for 180-185 is a better buy

EA origins access? etc?

by law they are required to provide you access to the games you have purchased.

that can mean a different server or sending your games to you on a CD. I dont think they are legally required to give you options however

when you buy a game (even on a disk) you do not buy the game. you buy ACCESS to the game ,and that is what you are legally entitled t

monthly subs existed with PC online services back in the 90s (Mplayer & the like) They seem to have vanished from PC, wonder why. This was before mmo's even existed.

Oh wait, consoles just carbon copied them.

MS was the first one to start charging for DLC on original xbox. #dealwithit

Yea and they vanished for a reason, yet you console idiots still pay for them cause mandatory.

You have a monthly subscription for internet access or cable tv. "PC started it?" reach more.
