Other than the PS4's hardware.

When I think about it, what has Sony really done this generation so far? Shareplay? From what I've heard, it's connection kinda sucks. what else? PS Now? The concept is cool, but if your internet isn't that great, it won't be pretty. What's left? $15 PS2 games?

Not saying that the other two have been super impressive either. But at least they tried to do something different.

Xbox One has:

  • Backwards Compatibility with Xbox 360 games.
  • Xbox One Elite controller.
  • Ability to make a (Kinda crappy) Split screen.
  • Can connect and control your cable box.
  • Windows 10....Connectivity? (I forgot)

The Wii U has

  • Backwards Compatibility with Wii games.
  • Virtual Console games. (DS games on the big screen. Wahoo!)
  • Gamepad can be used as a TV remote.
  • 5-Player local multiplayer.
  • Off screen play.
  • Dual screen co-op.
  • Backwards Compatible with Wii Remotes and accessories.
  • Miiverse. (Almost every game has it's own community)

What features does the PS4 have that is as, interesting, as the other two consoles?

I know people will say that the PS4 has lots of games and exclusives. But again, that's mainly due to hardware power, not hardware features.

Besides, %85 of it's games are Multiplats. Where are the 1st party exclusives?

Bloodborne wasn't made by Sony, it's by From Software. Lots of the Japanese exclusives like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Ni no Kuni 2, Street Fighter 5, Dragon Quest 11, etc, are not MADE by Sony either. They are made by other companies. If the other consoles were more viable options in Japan, they would be on those consoles as well.

So....What has Sony actually done? Just made a powerful system and got lucky with marketing? If I'm missing something, then type it down below....And add a picture of a duck. Quack.

Remote Play, cross buy, save, and play, most importantly games.

I don't think relative is the word you're looking for, maybe intuitive.

@Blabadon: Didn't the PS3 have that?I know the remote play wasn't as good, but I remember some games being made for cross buy/play, between PS3 and PSP or Vita. I transfered my PS1 saves to PSP.

More and more are being added over time.

Besides, it's still a feature that PS4 doesn't have that Xbox One AND Wii U do have. That kind of matters in the big picture of things.

They did what they did best.

Make a System with decent Hardware and Marketed it to the Right People.

That's been Sony's MO since PS1.

Like I said in another topic all of Sony's "MAJOR" franchises were NEVER Sony made. Sony's success came from all of the 3rd Party support they obtained. Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, Street Fighter, Grand Theft Auto, Tekken, you pretty much name it.

The PS4 is almost EXACTLY like the PS1 and that's why it's so Successful.

LOL this looks like it came straight from some Sony website.

As for the topic, I can't really think of anything outside of Shareplay which others have mentioned. Don't have a PS4 so I can't really talk about how well it actually works but it always sounded like a potentially neat feature.

Nothing and add in delays out the ass lol.

PS4 has ZERO coop games unless u count knack lol. It has NO MP games besides Uncharted which is not out yet so doesnt count plus sony fans have stated they dont like the MP lol.

The launch release of games till now have been terrible!!!. Only 1 game which is bloodborne but that game is dead after March of 2015 lol. LAZY ports of these games. SAME controller for 20 LONG years lol. The controlelr is TERRIBLE. GTA5 on PS4 i heard is AWFUL. The controller dies FAST cuz u see the light on the controller used ALOT espcially when the cops come after u & flashes red & blue lol. STUPID!. Also the mic on the controller is used alot as well. The PS4 controller is the worst sony has done & the thumbsticks peal off from many youtubers making videos of it.

The PS2 BC thing which isnt a BC sucks & sony is charging u for games u already own on Disc just because of trophys lol. The interface on PS4 sucks. It has NO friends logo icon when they pop up on line or offline lol. The mics on PS4 suck ass and many complaints on that shit that falls off your ear lol.

Nothing but mulitplats this holiday AGAIN. Sony is the new Wii 2006 of this gen only with multiplats in it. So glad im not a follower for buying this giant textbook console at launch lol. Only pad $299 for mine this holiday cuz $399 is a rip off for what ps4 is lacking in every department besides multiplats . Uh...yeah lol

Wow, here's an example of fanboy dribble right here folks, and since I have the time to state a couple of points to make this joke of a post moot, I will

1. You say that PS4 have "ZERO" co-op games but fail to realize through your fanboy goggles that LBP3 exist.

2. You say the only MP games that the PS4 have is UC4, but fail to realize through those fanboy tinted goggles (once again) that the ps4 have DC, KZ: SF, TLoU, and Bloodborne.

3. You say that the DS4 is the worst controller that Sony has created, yet in direct comparison to their previous controllers from last gen, it's believed by many of people that the DS4 is a HUGE improvement over the DS3 (and maybe even the DS2), while the X1 controller feels like MS took a couple of steps backwards compared to the 360 controller.

4. You say that GTA5 is "horrible" on the PS4, however most (if not all) review sites say that it looks better on the PS4 vs the X1 version.

5. You say that the interface on the PS4 sucks, yet besides a couple of add-on here and there, their interface looks the same it did at launch because not many people was complaining about it (at least not enough to stir an uproar), while the X1 interface had to completely rework their UI because their interface was in disray and shambles.

6. You say that the PS4 only have multiplats over the X1 only, but fail to realize through those infamous goggles of yours that MS have made some "revisions" to the X1 based upon the PS4 features like a 35mm jack in the controller (MS just had a revision with the controller based upon this alone).

I'd have to assert that the PS4 is more the Xbox paradigm perfected. The thing about the PS1, and really all PS, was that it was distinctly Japanese in orientation. The PS4 is distinctly Western and the plethora of PS4/PC "Console Exclusives" and indie backing has major early 360 days vibe.

Contrary to what Sony fanboys will say, the PS4 is nothing special... And isn't that much "better" than any other console. Actually the only thing that it really has over the others is power.

The big difference but was Sony had a flawless launch... that is what has given them the momentum.

They released a console in a better initial state, that is all they have done, so many people are blinded by pure delusion, Sony has done **** all in all reality.

The PlayStation 2, Xbox and Dreamcast LAUNCHED in a better state than the PlayStation 4 currently sits over two years in, it's fucking pathetic.

It matters to me because i usually have to trade in my old consoles to get a new console, some of us just cannot afford to pay 400 quid off the bat for new consoles because we have Families, bills and other financial responsibilities.

And regardless of whether it matters or not it's blatantly obvious that the Xbone offers the best value when it comes to BC.

I do find it funny that if the Xbone does something better than the Ps4 SONY fanboys try to put it into the 'doesn't matter category'

The truth is that BC DOES matter to a lot of people, it may not matter to you but your opinion does not equate to the opinion of everyone not even close.

  • 5-Player local multiplayer.
  • Off screen play.
  • Dual screen co-op.
  • Backwards Compatible with Wii Remotes and accessories.
  • Miiverse. (Almost every game has it's own community)

Well the PS4 has more games and higher rated ones, isn't it what a gaming console is suppose to be firstly.?

A console is supposed to play games... Who cares if they "innovate" as long as they have games?

no, they haven't done shit but neither has anyone else. still, as the leader this gen you'd think they'd at least push for innovation instead of living in the past like they've done so far this gen.

@Slashkice: I would second that, shareplay allows me to try out other games, or socialise with my distant friends taking it in turns on a single player game or even playing split screen, it's a feature i have genuinely got a lot out of.

I would also say that tc you should try and hide your agenda a bit more: you downplay hardware and games because it's something the ps4 is being praised for, and then downplaying exclusives just because they're not first party? (though on a side of that, Bloodborne was From Software directly working with SCEJ as a joint venture, so technically it could be classed as first party).

Nothing except from its big front loaded sales, what does sony need to do? They already have the dollar from everyone.

they didn't *BEEP* up....thats more than the other 2 managed to do.

MS had the same issue with the X1 that sony had with the PS3...its a blergyblergblerg. they threw crap in there with no plan at all. then there was the whole pre launch mess...i mean sony just had to walk the ball into the back of the net. MS didnt even know where the goal was. basically sony managed to released a more poweful console with all the same features that matter to most people...for 100 quid less.

nintendo...they didnt even know where the pitch was...so they set up their own where ever they were standing. which is fine...but then they still told everyone to go to the pitch where sony was walking a ball into the back of an undefended net.

so thats basically the state of competition in the console market currently. all sony have to continue to do is not *BEEP* up.

Relevant? If they are keeping their demographic happy with games than that is all that matters. And when I say games I don't just mean exclusives. Looking at your list it seems BC...which I find disposable and unimportant....controllers, PC gaming, and TV? Seriously? That just tells me to wait for the games to pick up the One. As for the Wii U.....kind of barren. I want to love it but I don't have much to play on it and with the NX coming.....I don't think I will.

PS4 doesn't have a great library (and its exclusive library is an embarrassment) but this statement is really pushing it.
