Has the Wii become mandatory to own?

It's mandatory for females and the casual fanbase since that's what it's intended for.There is nothing revolutionary about the Wi''s controls (my mother has one) and not eeven Galaxy is a good game.I bought the game for my mother's Wii and never touched it since that same day.

Well yeah it kinda does. It's the first console where I ever bought this much great games for. Got like 20 or so.
And SMG is on it. My favorite game ever next to SMB3. What an experience.

For me yes...There is not enough titles on the PS3 and 360 I like to keep me happy without it. I have never understood the hate for the system there are just so many games that are exclusive to the Wii. Out of the 30 games I own on the sytem maybe 5 are on other systems.

oh god no. most people that do have it doesnt play it as much as their other consoles and the other people that dont have other consoles use it for wii fit. then ofcourse there are the few people that actually only have a wii for gaming, for them i say why?.

well nothing is mandetory of course. but i think the minimum console setup is a wii and something else...360/PS3/PC. i own all the consoles and my PC but its the PC and my wii that get the most attention...i only boot up the PS3 roughly once a week at the mo to check up on PSN updates. the only reason i can see why someone wouldnt want a wii is if they just want o stick with mainstream gaming and the same ol same ol and want nothing to change but the horsepower. the wii doesent share its library much and it has really kewl and interesting games that you wont find anywhere else. its a great complimentary console imho.osan0

1) very few things inlife are mandatory to own. 2) Only if you want somthing different from the high budget blockbuster games that come out on the other consoles and are not afraid to give a game a try that they don't know (which is a problem with a lot of wii owners who use them as paper weights)

No. The wii only belongs in homes that:

1. Have people other than males between the ages of 12 - 35

2. Likes variety

3. Think games without killing, bloom, the color gray or brown, or an m rating can be good

4. People that identify themselves as gamers instead of "teh h4rdcor3!!!11" or "casual"

Yeah he's right there. NES may have a been a great console of all time but you gotta wonder.. With no internet, must've been frustrating being a kid back at that time with no clue what's good and what's bad. We're lucky.:P

edit - and I personally have not played motion plus. I dont like motion controls for games, I wont like it on any system that puts it out there.

nothing is mandatory to own in a free country....

and tbh no I think I could probably be just as happy with my gaminhg life if I didnt have the wii, although that doesnt mean I dont like it, I stil do, I just play it a lot les then my other systems

You, I can agree with. You actually make sense. Alot of Xbox and PS fans say that the Wii sucks and have never tried the system but when their systems come out with Motion controls which will be real soon, they'll act like it is the best thing to ever happen to a console and as if it has never happened, oh and then it goes from being gimmicky to being a must for true gamers. Sounds kinda two faced to me.
