I simply dont understand why HARDCORE PC gamers have this idea in their heads that BF3 on consoles is going to look like complete trash. First of all, I seriously doubt that more than maybe only 10% of you are going to get the oppurtunity to "max out" BF3 visually and still have descent frame rates. I promise you that the vast majority of PC gamers will be running BF3 on medium to high settings and of those I bet atleast 50% will be running it at 1366 x 768 or 1440 x 900. I will most likely get it on PC because I now prefer M/KB to controller. Secondly, have any of you played BFBC 2 on consoles. It is a very good looking game and now you all seem to think that even with updated graphics, Frostbite 2 and everything, somehow BF3 will look worse than BFBC 2 on consoles?? No and NO!!!! So keep your PC fanboyisms in check as the vast majority of you wont be playing the game at any better visuals than what consoles are at.
P.S.
Dont bring up...64 players, dedicated servers and mods, because nobody cares. Consoles get DLC and XBL is just fine!!

I doubt any console gamer should be worried as such, Dice does not really have a track record of making ugly games ;)
It will not look like the PC version, but I doubt the downgrade will be huge, since they aimed for smaller mp envioments for console instead of a downgrade in graphics.
If you study the trailers one of the thing that makes the game look so good is the lighting, it will still be there, and while anyone can understand a high end PC will have a better looking game it is not as if the consoles get a PS2 era looking game

:lol::lol:
Im pretty sure that 0% of console gamers will be able to max it out or play at decent framerates too. And those medium to high settings on PC will likely still look better than consoles.
Based on the footage I've seen, comparing Battlefield 3 on PC to Battlefield Bad Company 2 on Xbox 360 is like comparing Halo 3 to Halo 2. Halo is still playable, but it looks like garbage now. It just seems that the PC segment has this opinion that the difference between the PC and console versions VISUALLY will be so vast that it is incomprehensible. My opinion is that you all are kidding yourselves if you think DICE is going to give the PC gamers a golden egg and the console segment a turd. DICE cannot afford to have the console version to be anything less than stellar if they hope to actually outsell MW3. Yes, the BF series has it cult following on the console, but unless BF3 is mind blowing, it will still and always be second for console gamers as far as military shooters go.I simply dont understand why HARDCORE PC gamers have this idea in their heads that BF3 on consoles is going to look like complete trash. Because I did play the BC 2 demo in PS3 and it made my eyes bleed, whereas in PC the game still has one of the best visuals of the last years. And I'm playin BF 2 at 2560 x 1440, settings maxed with AF X16 and AA X4, at average 50 fps. I'm looking for a 28 nm new GPU for the BF3 release date to improve my current 5870 (which is still a beastly card at the moment).
Also remember that DICE will shoot themselves in the foot if they set the bar so high that only those with elite gaming rigs get the full experience. If DICE is smart they optimize the crud out of BF3 so that even those with mid range machines can still get mind blowing visuals but with maybe less particle effects and shadowing. To be honest, who in the world has time in a FPS to admire sparks flying, your refliction in a puddle, blood spray or how realistically your shadow is cast on a building???

But if you've never experienced such things, are they really missed??? See for me, 720p look s just fine. Ive never played a game console or PC that was higher than 720p. Heck, everyone talks 1080p this and 1080p that on consoles, but yet of all the games released this entire generation of consoles, how many games have true native 1080p support? Probably about 10...maybe! Same goes for PC. Im betting the vast majoity of PC gamers outside the "hardcore" realm have never played a game above 1920 x 1080 if even that high.Also remember that DICE will shoot themselves in the foot if they set the bar so high that only those with elite gaming rigs get the full experience. It's not about sitting there and starign at the pretty lights/shadows.
Your brain is EXTREMELY good at taking in this information very quickly. So it immediately feels more realistic/imemrsive to you, it doesn't matter that you're not focusing on the graphics.

Playing it at four times 720p with four times the anisotropic and antialising filters and with things as SSAO which aren't even available in console make a huge difference in visuals (not to talk about playing at much higher framerrate and with 32 players supported instead of 24).
Is fun in consoles? Yes! Even 10+ years old games at 800 x 600 as Diablo II are still a lot of fun despite the outdated visuals, but don't try to say that playing it in PC doesn't make a difference. And about the 580, doesn't worry me a bit, as I said for the time of the BF3 release the new 28 nm GPUs from Nvidia and Ati will be more powerful and cheaper.

Good example of hyperbole. I played at the internet cafe here, 1200p, 8xaa, 16xaf average of 50 fps, it looked great, then i went to my xbox 360, and the difference wasnt enough for me to stop playing. I dont know where you get this eye bleeding stuff, but the difference is so small its not even funny. Good luck, they showed it running on a 580.[QUOTE="Sandvichman"][QUOTE="Ondoval"]

Is not a hyperbole at all.
Excep they dont, or else i would have already stopped playing on consoles. Im not saying there isnt a difference, but there isnt a big enough difference for me to care. Also, scre 32 players, its a fragfest on the pc versionPlease Log In to post.
