The first level in Metroid Prime. Yeah, I scare easily. :P

789shadow

I scare easily but it wasn't in Metroid Prime I do sometimes jump because I don't expect anything to be there and turn a corner and the enemy is there and I jump. I used to be avoid any place with Re-deads in Ocarina of Time. I jumped in Half-Life 2 when the Poison Headcrabs hiss and then jump at my face. I hear that hiss and I jump because I know it would lunge at my face soon but I don't know where it would be coming from.

[QUOTE="tehsystemwarior"]That would be Oblivion for me. The dungeon missions scare the $#@% out of me. I also thought the dungeons sucked are were boring when they weren't scaring me.lucfonzy

YES! I thought I was the only one! The atmosphere is so eerie I just can't stand them.

Also I haven't completed Bioshock 1 (mainly because I'm stuck) but also cos it scares me.

I couldn't play F.E.A.R 1 by myself, nor Half Life 2 on my first playthrough, the same even goes for L4D1 the first time I played it.

But some games I just have to steer clear of, such as Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill and Resident Evil (the classic ones) I was scarred as a child by older family members playing them hehe.

I hate how 99% of questes take place in a ruin/cave/dungeon/tombs.... I just wish 20 questes took place in open, a normal house etc.... That's why Whodunit' and Paranoia are my favourite quests.

Playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R: SOC one night, I was exploring an abandoned steelworks. I realised I was being stalked by a Bloodsucker, it made me very nervous and reluctant to continue deeper into the dark underground passages. I felt I had to save my game and turned it off to resume at a later time. No game has ever had that effect on me.

AND... I don't like horror movies really. Might be a reason I don't like horror games.

I take permanent breaks from games that are too tense, scary or stressful, most of the time by not buying them in the first place. I am a total chicken.

Ya when I was 11, and played RE on the PS1. That was the only game, and maybe the only time that I would be scared.

I never did play the Silent Hill series.

The scariest for me would be Half Life. It was late at night, I was home alone, and all the lights were out in the house. I was going through Ravenholm, and I was scared:cry:

Dead space, if you played it alone at 3 am in an empty house, during a windy and rainy night in a lonely village could be pretty scary ;)

RE 1-2. I was 9 when i played it.

Fizzman

Resident Evil 2 did it for me back when it first debuted in 1996 on the Playstation, the earlier stage wasn't all that bad until it reachers the later stage where these gruesome bosses and enemies started showing up.

No, but I bought Half Life from Steam for 1.59 € (Go Steam :P !) , when I was in a vent a headcrab jumped on my head out of nowhere, and the flashlight illuminates almost nothing so it was 90% dark, I could just see the headcrab on my monitor.

Ravenholm wasn't scary at all compared to this (okay it way:P. The first time, but the second time it just pure fun :P, those saw blades are awesome)

Maybe I wouldn't call these situations scary, but really tense. And this is coming from a guy who played a lot of horror games and didn't find them scary.

svenus97
I'm a wussy and didn't find any of Half-Life 2 scary. You said Ravenholm is as scary so ha! :P

No because games nowadays are not scary.....at all.dakan45
Pretty much this, the true horror genre is pretty much dead now (Dead Space and Pnenumbra are keeping it on life support) Though I will say way back when, REmake on the Gamecube did give me some good scares. I'll never forget the first time a Crimson Head chased me then did something I wasn't aware was possible in that game, it followed me into the next room :o

Only once for me. I have a long history with survival horror starting back in the 90's when I was just a kid playing silent hill and resident evil on the PSX.

I had no issue with either, the REmake on gamecube on the other hand forced me to take a time out. The crimson heads, or more so the fact that you dont know when they are gonna pop up from the corpses freaked me out.

Besides REmake nothing has freaked me out.

Not from any I have played, I mean it's a game how can you be scared by it?

Yangire
lol. I've gotten frightened or spooked once or twice when things pop out. But I don't want to take a break from it. @Yangire I think it's possible to get scared of the content in a game just like you would get scared in horror films. Sometimes the right atmosphere can send chills down your spine, make the hair on the back of your neck stick up, or just make you yelp a bit or jump in fright. I hate when things unexpectedly jumps out at me in a game or movie :P

The original Alone in the Dark. I am 17, at my friends place (which made me feel uncomfortable to begin with, I won't explain why), downstairs, in a cold room that was his parents office, middle of the night, hearing the creaks the groans from the game, freaked the crap out of me. I needed to go upstairs . :( nothing since then has made me that scared.

I try to avoid games that I know will scare me. I'm easily startled as well (mitral valve prolapse symptom is what my doctor tells me) so that's why I hate being scared in games. I've avoided games like Biochock, Dead Space, Alan Wake, etc... because of that reason. Heck, the insects and spiders in games like Zelda, Borderlands, Dragon Age, etc... creep me out. I literally hated facing the rachni in Mass Effect 1 lol. Also flying things that come straight toward your game character creep me out. Anything that chases your character (with the exception of L4D since oddly zombies don't really scare me) is something that causes me to get very nervous.

Regardless, I just try to finish those parts as quickly as possible in the game rather than stop since I know I'll have to finish them eventually in order to move on

Resident evil 2, it took me 6 months to beat that game because I took 3 month breaks... sad horror games is not what they use to be. nowdays just seem overly complicated *looks at dead space* then it needs to be.

Not since I was a young man have I been scared by a film. I've been trying to find a scary horror film ever since. Instead of getting scared playing Silent Hill, I yawned. Instead of getting scared by Dead Space, I found all these subtle flaws in the atmosphere and design and did my best to enjoy the robust gameplay mechanics. I think the best moments of recent memory though were the beginning of Bioshock when the splicer attacks your submerging pod....and....can't think of anything else, honestly. I think most entries into the horror genre in both film and videogames are pretty weak. Instead of being scared, I just watch slasher flicks like the The Hills have Eyes remake for the violence.
