Square and Rare completely.. And I have to say in some areas Nintendo... Idk I just dont feel like they can make another Amazing zelda game. I know the galaxy games were incredible but .. i dont know, its been seven years since Wind Waker, and even then as much as I loved that game thats not quite the zelda experience I wanted.
I used to hate Bioware.
Now I like Bioware (just for mass effect2), lost faith in Blizzard, and have lost faith in Square-Enix. Damn shame, those two companies used to give me such great games that always improved over the former ones.
The only company I think I can depend on now is Arena Net, since GW2 is looking so good and GW1 was fun. I pretty much dislike every other company out there, they've all failed me in some way. Especially EA and Activision related ones.
[QUOTE="Sp4rtan_3"]If anything rare games are too complex now. Their games look like kids games but they're anything but. Kniect games ? Viva Pinata was pretty complex if you really understood the mechanics but it still didn't help when it came to being a good game.Crapcom & Rare
They've put out dumbed down garbage this entire generation.

Bioware, not only because of the direction they are giving Star Wars: The Old Republic and DA2, but also how most of their recent rpg's have disappointed me, especially in the RPG aspect. Dragon Age: Origins was a path in the right direction, but with the path of DA2 they look like to remove everything that was good with DAO.
I can go with Capcom. They never really entered this gen it seems, all their games seem like prettier versions of their old games, no new physics/AI/gameplay elements... etc.
Also, Rockstar. I despised GTA IV and only liked RDR. They seem to have lost their sense of fun.

Compare that to Chrono Trigger - the peak of Square imo.
I'd have to say Xenogears and Vagrant Story were where they peaked.Compare that to Chrono Trigger - the peak of Square imo.

TWEWY is a great game and all but it's certainly not the peak of Square. If we're going from GS scores then 2000 was Squares best year. Chrono Cross got a 10 and Vagrant Story got a 9.6.I lose faith in anything Microsoft touches:
- Bioware: no longer an RPG dev, now just a shooter dev (Dragon Age's mediocrity should be an indication of how they've lost their way)
- Lionhead: Fable was okay. Fable: Lost Chapters was better. Everything after that was absolutely horrible. If you say otherwise, then you've never played a real 3rd person RPG.
- Rare: enough said
- CAPCOM: they definitely picked up Microsoft's greed. Easily the greediest 3rd-party publisher other than Activision
- Oh, Activision: they've openly stated that 60% of Live subscriptions play CoD and they want in on that action. Fail.
- Square Enix: a notch below CAPCOM in the DLC and title-churning greed. Hopefully they can turn themselves around with Eidos Montreal (new Deus Ex and new Thief), but their RPG franchises are pretty much dead to me
- EPIC: they used to care about gameplay polish, balance, and having the best multiplayer. Now all they care about is having the best pre-release screenshots.
So... Dragon Age and The Old Republic are shooter franchises now? Bioware makes 2 games based around a shooter dynamic and all of a sudden they only develop shooters? amazingI know Final Fantasy is crap now, but that new Deus Ex game looks fantastic.

Based upon what? CGI videos?

They released a gameplay video a few months ago. It looked good.
Square still has a lot of talent, but it's been unable to deliver titles that are of all around quality. For example, I've been playing the 3rd Birthday. Although it's probably best to note that it was developed in conjunction with Hexa Drive, the gameplay is great, the cutscenes are well directed, the music is excellent, the graphics are superb. The only problem is the basis of the plot is fundamentally stupid.
FFXIII had a great concept, a great battle system, and great art direction. But the follow through was done by someone else who failed to execute the plot well (it makes me wonder how it would be different if the person who proposed the plot to FFXIII had actually followed through), the game made it very obvious how restrictive the experience was, and it was just designed in a way that was clearly rushed for time.

Which is more or less of a result of having great storytellers in their midst.
Square doesn't really have great storytellers anymore (or at least they're not giving them work) and its a serious problem. The style of games they produce is wasted without good storytellers.
Xenogears was a result of a FFVI writer proposing a story for FFVII and it became Xenogears, for example.
while I can't think of a single game SE done this gen for home console (xbox, ps3 and wii) that I really like, they have done some pretty awsome handheld games.
tho I will always be eternally grateful to them for publishing persona 4 in EU ^^
I have not lost faith in SE mainly cause all the games iv played from them I have enjoyed. I enjoyed FF13 even though some people overreact about it like if it was a real person and did horrible things to them while they were sleeping. The only people I dont like anymore is activision mainly cause the overpriced dlc. 15 bucks is just way to much for some lame maps.
Insomiac making a Ratchet game that surpasses the PS2 games- I hope they stop making new Ratchet games for a looong time after All 4 one is released, still very excited for Resistance 3
Naughty Dog making a new Jak like someone else said
Although I've never been a huge fan of Konami (just like MGS and ZoE from recent gens)this gen it really seems like their not doing much.
I lost faith in square, for console. kingdoms heart birth by sleep was really an amazing game even though they should have already made kingdom hearts 3 by now.
[QUOTE="lawlessx"]Bioware for medreman999Wow, you think that making games that only score 90+ is enough... So you think every game that scores 90+ is really THAT good, and can't understand that someone may have felt let down by the ME series? (I ask this as a person who believes ME2 is currently game of the gen in spades)

Point is they done nothing to make someone lose faith in them and this is coming from a baldur's gate fan.

1. I'm sorry, but what do you expect some to think when they say they lose faith in a dev.
2.Did you miss the part when I said I did not like Batman:AA , a big AAA game. I can list all the 90+average game that it did not like to you if you like?....I think that would mean that I can understand someone not liking some well scored games if I didn't like some well scored games. All I'm say that based on their record they have done nothing to cause someone to lose faith in them. I never even started to say anything about it being impossible to hate their games....All I did is stress the fact that their good devs........I can't say their good devs now?
I've lost faith in Capcom.
they need to get their act together next generation, because it's too late for this gen.

Seriously? You're going to be that immature and blame Microsoft for Capcom's greed? You kids are absolutely pathetic when it comes to your unwarranted Microsoft hate. You would think Microsoft has commited numerous genocides and made a bunch of gamers watch as they murdered and tortured their family..

And ME2 givin a moreflexible system than ME1, I can't see what your talking about.
