Haze developer Derek Littlewood says the less restrictive PlayStation Network has both its advantages and disadvantages when compared to Microsoft's Xbox Live. However, he believes the added freedom of the PSN enhances his online experience.
PSN as good or better than Live?
"The disadvantage of Sony's [PSN] is that there isn't as much defined by Sony as to how you have to do things - they leave it very much up to you," the Haze project leader told Spong.
"But at the same time, because it's not as strongly defined, you have the freedom to do it in the way that you want [on PSN] - in a way that may be more suitable to your game."
Littlewood added that some Xbox 360 games might have been better were it not for Microsoft's restricting standards on Live. Said standards are believed to make developing games on Live easier than on PSN, however.
Still, Littlewood likes what he's seen so far on the PlayStation network saying Haze's online experience "hasn't suffered at all" by being on a service that is widely regarded as inferior to Microsoft's Xbox Live.
Haze, a first-person shooter, is slated for a November 23 release on PS3 followed by PC and Xbox 360 versions some time in 2008.
