this.
did you know mgs4 had over 9 hours of cutscenes? about as long as heavy rain lol

i didn't say longest experience, i loved mgs4 too, but heavy rain story wise was better. and personally i love games that are 8-12 hours, with a busy life at least i can finish them. cant count how many rpg's ive given up on because they're too time consuming. uncharted 2 is an example of a perfectly paced game. 10 hours with no filler content= instant desire to replay
mgs4 cutscenes arent filler though, most of them are interactive and actually develops the storyline, if you just skipped all cutscenes in mgs4 then youd be wondering how did you go from Iraq to Germany in 10 mins
They are not filler exactly, but they are needlessly drawn out. Kojima could be more WAY economical, spending less time on cutscenes overall. A leaner, meaner script would probably strengthen the story.
Also, the series in general has uneccessary tangents about technology, and huge heaps of exposition that could be avoided.
Needless to say, knowing that less is generally more when it comes to storytelling, I don't buy that MGS4 needed all of its cutscene material, especially not those excessively long mission briefings.
Kojima should have cut cutscenes and added more gameplay because without the cutscenes, the game is rather short.
