You guys crying about the plot holes name me ONE game with 30 different possible endings? Better yet, show me one with no plot holes. Matter of fact i think Heavy Rain had over 30 different possible endings. The game was a huge endevour that most devs are too cowardly to even attempt. Long live HR lol.

enterawesome

Quality over quantity. Nobody is realistically going to experience those 30 endings anyway, they should have spent the time making different endings patching up the holes in the script that all surfaced at the end.

Like I said before it doesn't really contain 30 endings. It is really just 8 endings each one containing different variations to them (those small variations wouldn't make them different endings)

My platinum says hello. I loved looking at the different endings. Unlocking them were great fun imo. And since when does realism and a drama videogame make any sense? None to me. Videogames are just that, Videogames. If i want to experience realllife i wouldn't be playing videogames now would i?

Well I suppose if you reloaded the last chapter 30 times in a row you could view all the endings, but would you reall ybe deprived with perhaps 20 endings? Also, I never brought up realism, unless you assume patching plot holes = realism, in which case it should be 'realistic'. Heavy Rain takes place in our world with real human beings, so how am I supposed to take certain aspects seriously when when there are plenty inconsistensies I don't even have to look for?

I don't think it fell flat on it's face at all. In regards to heavy rain I was correct, and why am I not surprised you haven't tried DMC or Bayo? What do you think of yakuza? Or shmups such as deathsmiles? Also, GoW was western developed and plays nothing like DMC or Bayo, but NG is somewhat similar.

Some-Mist

As one of the ten people that purchased Yakuza 2, nobody plays Yakuza. And hardly anyone plays DeathSmiles.

And really, I don't see what enjoyment of Japanese games has to do with appreciating the ridiculous, sloppy plot of Heavy Rain. Deadly Premonition and Nier are both much more edifying games, even if they don't have ridiculous production values.

[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"] The biggest plot-hole for me has nothing to do with the endings. How do you expect me to believe that a little kid, will survive neck deep in water in a cold warehouse for five days, without any food or anything ! The kid would die of low body temperature and god knows what... You don't really have to be a doctor to know this.GeneralShowzer

It wasn't winter. It wasn't that cold get real. The water was dirty sure, but he could have sipped on the water to stay alive 5 days. See, its how you want to look at it. I choose to look at it in a different way. Besides isn't it a videogame or realllife? Just a question for ya.

It was ****** raining all the time and everyone we're dressed in coats. It was cold. I really would like to see you do an experiment where someone will survive drenched in water for five days.

No offense, but its just one game i played. I play many games so i should do experiments on all the games i play every year to see if they are realistic? I don't think so. No thanks!! Heavy Rain a great drama and most unique game i played all year.

no game has had my heart pounding like heavy rain did on my first playthrough. yes there are better "video games" out there, but Heavy Rain is an experience i will never forget. once you start it, you can't put it down. thats saying alot for me because i tend to drag games out or lose interest easily, but when i played heavy rain, i played nothing else but that, and i would think about it between play sessions.

lostfan132

thats awesome you enjoyed it. too bad no one else did

It hits on one of the plotholes. One out of... maybe 12.

Does it justify all the plot holes? GeneralShowzer

Bu, bu, bu it adds to the complexity! The developers didn't want to do dat! :P

The way I see it, deleted scenes are supposed to be ancillary to the experience, not scenes that contributed significantly to the plot and would thus leave gaping holes in their absence.

Ask any doctor, anyone with the slightest medical knowledge how long can a little kid survive neck deep in water, in autumn, in a cold warehouse. 2-3 hours tops.

True. Give me some puzzles, some inventory items, some exploration.... Instead of grotesquely prolonged fight scenes, where it seems you can survive any situation as long as there are stuff to throw around.

This statement sums up why this game was released for the ps3 and not the 360. The ps3 crowd tends to be a bit older and apperciates games like heavy rain. Where 360 owners flock to run and gun games with multiplayer, story lines be dammed. Trust me if a game dosent have mindless run and gun or action 360 owners think it's crap.

Well to be fair it's a interactive movie. It isn't suppose to be full of puzzles, items, etc. (which why we do not see too many interactive movies) IM's have to be one of the least popular sub genres of Adventure games.

his comment made me chuckle since this is what i had to say aboutgame story telling in a different thread yesterday. i'll just copy/paste it in.

why are people expecting any video game story to make any kind of impression on them at all?

if that's what you want for gods sake read a friggin book.

i'm sitting here next to a bookcase with titles in it like the return of the native (thomas hardy), remembrance of things past (marcel proust), heart of darkness(joseph conrad), the grapes of wraith (john steinbeck) on the road(jack kerouac), maus(art spiegelman), rommel the desert fox (desmond young) and hunderds of others just like those.

if you are looking for something tosatisfy your need for literature in the videogame aisle YOU ARE LOOKING IN THE WRONG PLACE.

Elitism. Mature.

The only reason this game wasn't released on the 360 is because Sony snatched up the publishing rights, not because of some supposed sense of PS3 owners being more "mature" than 360 owners.

Hmm, perhaps because of preconceived-notions?

D00d, u r SO not hardcore becuz you haven't played the Sticky Tongue Love Heart Ex games and Ketsui Kizuna Jigoku Tachi. You BAKA!

*DISCLAIMER*

Mods, I am in no way being serious with Stevo. I am a non-attorney spokesperson.

limited tastes =/= not hardcore. You can be a hardcore gamer and play mass effect all day.

never heard of that first game you've listed, however, that 2nd game is quite good. Not that I expect many on here to know what it is.. I'm surprised you do. Then again, I'm not only into japanese/european/eastern developed games, but western developed games as well - such as mass effect, dead space, warcraft, uncharted, diablo etc..

I also wasn't aware that vanquish, mgs4, muramasa, bayonetta, devil may cry, yakuza, deathsmiles and other localized/game of the year worthy titles such as those are comparable to something like ketsui kizuna jigoku tachi. I figured they were way more mainstream - you know, something that if Stevo didn't have limited tastes and were into japanese developed games, that he would feel inclined to play.

It's pure speculation, but I don't believe it's just JRPGS. You see, with the limited tastes comment I think I nailed it right on the head. Especially with the type of feedback that I'm receiving :D

I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just saying if this was on the 360 most of the 360 owners wouldn't even bother playing it. They would just called it a movie or a lame QTE game and toss it aside and go back to halo or call of duty. Not saying all 360 owner are like this ( I own a 360 as well).

MGS4's cutscenes were a snoozefest, they were overdrawn out way too far and were extremely boring, if it wasn't MGS, I probably would've skipped over most of the cutscenes.

limited tastes =/= not hardcore.

I also wasn't aware that vanquish, mgs4, muramasa, bayonetta, devil may cry, yakuza, deathsmiles and localized/game of the year worthy titles such as those are comparable to something like ketsui kizuna jigoku tachi. I figured they were way more mainstream - you know, something that if Stevo didn't have limited tastes, and were into japanese developed games, that he would feel inclined to play.

You see, with the limited tastes comment I think I nailed it right on the head. Especially with the type of feedback that I'm receiving :D

Went right over like a friggen' 747, eh?

nope :) just proving a point. It appears as if you've mistaken my 'limited tastes' comment for 'not hardcore' which I wasn't implying what-so-ever. Exactly what part of your statement are you referring to?

[QUOTE="ShadowNinja87"]I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just saying if this was on the 360 most of the 360 owners wouldn't even bother playing it. They would just called it a movie or a lameQTE game and toss it aside and go back to halo or call of duty. Not saying all 360 owner are like this ( I own a 360 as well). Advid-Gamer

Is that not what it is? I beat the game it took no %$$# skill, it was basicly a video game novel. IT was a QTE game, what is you point?

You basically proved my point. 360 owners don't care about these types of games. They would rather just shoot stuff.

I was once modded for saying it could be played with a Blu-ray remote, I still stand by that comment. :P

Well I'm not trying to bash it. That's what it is it's the only genre it would fit in.

I enjoyed it, but it didn't really strike me as amazing or anything.

no thanks! I'll leave it as is. I've already proved my point to an extent and have explained myself as well as I can. You apparently don't feel the need to prove your point, that is, if you even have one.

I'll stay content with the wide selection of games I enjoy while he remains stubborn with the few games he enjoys. As long as he's content there shouldn't be a problem :) it's just my observations.

I like the concept, but if Indigo Prophecy was any indication those developers don't have the writing skills needed to carry that kind of game.

I think most gamers do not care for the genre in most cases. Considering we hardly see gmaes like IP and Heavy Rain often (even when it comes to the Adventure genre as a whole). We probably see more point & clicks compared to interactive movies

I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just wish they explained some of the plot holes.
