Don't get a Wii.

That's still last generation and for grandmothers and little girls (I didn't say it, Nintendo did).

PS3 or 360, both are fine machines.

360 or PS3. But if you liked your original XBOX then definately go with the 360. You know Halo, Gears of War, etc...

My suggestion is to keep the consoles you have and build a gaming pc. Shouldn't cost more than $600 if you want to play the games that are good at max (crysis is a tech demo..). I won't get into why it is better except for larger library, games are cheaper, and you have most of the stuff for a computer now.

Well since you skipped the PS2 last gen you might wanna do the same this gen because PS2 has lots more good games than PS3 does. Go with the 360 and Wii since you like Metroid Prime, 3 is awesome.

Ok whatever you do dont make the same mistake me and many others made by buying a wii 1st dont do it, but the 360 and the PS3 both have there fair share of great games and they share some of the best this gen. It all depends on your taste in games, but tell me are you going to buy older games or just the ones coming out? But personally I find a 360 is the best for me because when I was deciding I almost bought a ps3 because of MGS4 but as much as I want it its the only really really good game on the ps3 while the 360 has many at the time and Gears (many will bash it but personally I think its got one of the best onlines I have ever played, slightly flawed tho). If your into RPGs the answer should be obvious at this point, the PS3 just cant match the 360 in the amount of RPGs. If you like shooters both systems have alot of them but I think the 360 has better ones not to say the ps3's shooters arent good but Halo 3 is one of the best FPS this gen people will say its generic but I can tell you its not. Halo 3 has more variety than any FPS this gen, its got so many little features that make it good and the Single Player is not bad, The story once again isnt that great but its just fun to kill things in the game, when you are will 3 other people online its a blast (Team killing on legendary FTW) but anyway in action games both consoles are even DMC4 is the only good one that came out but in my opinion it was a let down after DMC3 but it still was fun. Raceing games for me the only good racing games are burnout but the 360 has forza out atm while GT5 wont be out till like 2010, but the Ps3 has Ridge Racer, RRIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE RRAAACCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

When it comes down to online the 360 and the PS3 are both good. I hate sports games so I wont talk about them really but they are the same on both systems. But any way on system wars you are gonna get alot of bias responses but anyway just buy whatever system suits you best.

oh the thing about the failure rate its not bad if it happens just send it in and youll get it a week later but the RROD happens when your conslole overheats so just keep it in a open are make sure there isnt alot of dust in it and youll be fine (buy a new one not used)

Get a 360 and the reason is below: The games you listed are sports games and FPS games, which the 360 has better quality and more of. Games like Gears of war, mass effect, halo 3, and bioshock, you will enjoy. Sports games usually run smoother on the 360. If you are buying a console soon, wait until next month, for the jasper chip, it is a 4th generation motherbaord design, and the chances of RROD have decreased with each generation. the 33% number is the number of original consoels that broke. It's down to a smaller number, so you shouldn't have to worry at all. Plus if it does happen, it will be fixed for free. Also, you get a superior online experience, if you have a netflix account, you can watch movies online instantly, and on top of all that, in september ,the new interface will roll out. also you get tru achievments in every game on the 360. If you decide to go with a ps3, you can play mgs4 and older 360 ports, along with inferior sports mulitplats. Their online is free, but not as good. You can however watch blu ray movies, should your ps3 break, you will need to buy a seperate bluray player. The choice is really up to you, bu tbased on teh games you listed, sounds like 360 is your choice.

GO with a 360. The only ones that fail are the owneres of the original first initial shipments of the system (IE first 6 months)

You may consider a Wii based on your past game interests.... but don't. The Wii is a gimick with no games

Since you obviously most likely enjoy shooters go with the 360 and actually play games

$150 for good cpu, $150 for good mobo, $150 for GOOD ram... thats already $450 and thats not including any video card, sound card, case, keybaord, monitor, or mouse. A "good" video card is going to be about $200 - $700. How is that cheaper than a console?

sports games are getting better and better on the wii and you would get metroid

360 will get re5 halo and soul caliber but there is still the chance of "fail"

wii cost less then the 360

if you have an ok gaming rig most of the games outside of what you named will be on the pc

i say get a chess board

chess>pc>360=wii>ps3

one day i hope the ps3 becomes as good as the ps2 but im just not seeing it

Make a list of all the games you want then get the system that those games are on. Problem solved. Beware of fanboyism when you ask this type of question.

If you are afraid of the failure rate then a more through investigation of the 360 hardware is in order. DO THIS YOURSELF.

The PS3 is a fine console and is built like a tank. But it's library isn't as varied as the 360's just yet. But it does have a fine list of upcoming games.

If you like JRPGs, the 360 is the way to go. XBL is 50 bucks per year, PSN is free, but free gets you a shorter feature list.

Both have movie services, XBL has more flicks, but PSN lets you DL them to your PSP or buy them.

I could go on, but really the most important thing is the games as far as I'm concerned. It all comes down to your taste.

I did not add the Wii because I no longer own one and could really careless about it. That being said the same rules apply, which games do you like? Maybe the Wii has them. If so, then that's a good choice.

The XBOX360 has about 15% chance of breaking down on you. Thats as clear answer as your going to get. BUt I think it's 100% certain that not all XBOX360 are destined to RROD just some. But faulty hardware aside. Going by the games you mentioned. Get an XBOX360. PS3 has shoddy online service and theres not that many good games outside MGS4 and uncharted.

You own a Gamecube, good, then you won't need a Wii. Get a PS2 to start off with and play a bunch of the fantastic titles it has to offer then go for a 360. The PS3 isn't worth the time or the money right now. It might be around mid-2009 but it is still too early to tell.

You basically just made the decision for yourself. Get a 360 and if you have the extra cash, get a Wii and sell it to your friends or something if you're bored with it.

There are more people with 360s, it was out sooner and more people have purchased it overall. As a result, you are likely to get more push that way....and its a good system. Currently however, more people in your shoes are choosing ps3. Going backward the 360 has the advantage, going forward ps3 does. If older games and games alone are the factor, get a 360, but get your warranty stuff tight. If you are concerned with current games and upcoming titles, ps3 will give you all 360 has and likely more and it has a bluray player. Multitaskers rule.

PS3 no, 360 no, even though the PS3 is kinda lacking right now, it gets all multiplatform/big games, the Wii's third party support on the other hand is terrible, there's no reason to buy a Wii over 360/PS3 if you're not interested in the first party titles, period.

MGS4 isn't a first party title so it has nothing to do with this argument.

PS3 no, 360 no, even though the PS3 is kinda lacking right now, it gets all multiplatform/big games, the Wii's third party support on the other hand is terrible, there's no reason to buy a Wii over 360/PS3 if you're not interested in the first party titles, period.qewrewq

But the PS3 has no great exclusives and most of the multiplatforms are as equal as or better on the 360. Most of it's truly fantastic exclusives aren't coming until mid-2009.

First off, consider some of the following questions....

Which would fit your lifestyle more? The PS3 (pretty sexy) or the 360 (kinda dull.)?

Which would look better in the room you plan to put it in? A curvaceous and shiny PS3 or a sleek 360?

Which color do you prefer, white or black? That should help push you in the right direction.

Which one has more games you wish to play? (Consider releases now, and in the future)

Do you prefer reliable hardware and software, or do you consider yourself more of a games freak? Former goes to PS3, Latter for Xbox360.

Consider the extra features of each console.

Consider the price. The PS3 is more expensive up front, but, thats pretty much ALL you pay for. The Xbox360 is more less expensive up front, but when you consider all the fees afterwards.. like the wi-fi adapter, and the XBL fees, it does start to pile on. Rumors speculate that there will be a price increase for XBL Gold, but no official word on that.

Thats what I considered when i bought my consoles, but, I ended up getting all 3 instead. :P

Yeah, whether you like the game or not is just opinion, but MGS4 was a system seller as you can see in the latest NPD numbers, it's loved by many hardcore gamers and is getting great scores from almost all sites, these factors are what defines a great exclusive.

Buying a $450 console for one game is not my idea of great value.

I didn't say MGS4 alone is worth buying a PS3 for, there are other games as well, and future exclusives. you said PS3 had no great exclusives and I proved you wrong, that's it.

Most of your favorite games are on the 360. Buy a 360 first and if you want, buy a Wii as your secondary console to play those Metroid games you enjoy.

it bumped ps3 to 1.5 times what it was for one month and those were packed in

saying its a great system seller is just like saying wii sports is the one true, the alpha and the omega,GOD!

I mistyped and got caught. Still, MGS4 isn't worth buying a PS3 for, no matter how good it is. It's one game for a console heavily lacking in value and relying far too much on "potential" to sell it instead of just delivering the goods. The PS3 definitely won't be worth it until at least mid-2009 like I already said.
