[QUOTE="whocares9"][QUOTE="Thompsonwhore"]Hermits don't mention Counter-Strike enough here on system wars.
Thompsonwhore
Most people who play that game are playing that game when ever they get the chance and rarely visit this forum. I used to be one. That game has one powerful multiplayer that can make you lose hours of sleep.
I would be too if my good desktop's harddrive didn't fail.
that sucks, for your harddrive. I moved onto the Crysis MP from CS:S.
[QUOTE="monkeysrfat"]I really love how hermits try to make stuff like making your own PC sound easy. In reality to computer noobs like me it sounds totally insane. I can't even use basic programs like excel right so how do you expect me to learn how to build a PC. Gigabyts, ram, mb its like a new language or something. Genre diversity ia also a problem. It excels in certain genres but stuff like platformers and fighters are non existant. And also the PC doesn't have nintendo exclusives apart from old roms.hyperboy152000
its honestly easy as long as you match the terms up like if a motherboard takes 240 pin 800MHZ ram...you buy that kind of ram...and its not like you can force anything to fit...it takes research...but anyone who can read and can match pieces into slots.....you can build a computer...trust me
thats what Im saying. WTF is the motherboard 240 pin and mhz? Believe me mate I would have no idea. The best I can do with a computer is install a game and thats it. its easy for you sure cos you've learned about computers and know so now you think its easy to do. Its like a sport. When you get good at it you can't believe how amazingly crap some people are. I could learn it but why should I when I can get the best gaming experience for me out of consoles? Why should you have to go through and do something when your already content with what you've got? I guess with PC theres more choice on what you can do to it. And some people like this freedom more than others
This is why I hate some arrogant hermits who think their superior just because they like PC more

The only real arguements I can think of is it is easier to play on a console and take a look at the DS. You can shout, rub, tilt, etc with it. It is hard doing that on PC. Not saying consoles are trying this (except PS3 and Wii), but it would be nice if PC games used the mouse functions more than point and click.BlazeDragon132
You can buy a mic and shout into that all you want lol. You want to shout at the mouse? Leave the poor thing alone. *You have entered a camp of North Korean hostiles in Crysis, SHOUT and RUB your way out!*

Most of that post was a joke, man. I own the DS and Phantom hours glass...I have never played Elite beat agents but I heard it was fun. Just as fun as lumines. It is you who is not open minded, you seem to think that only nintendo is great with this kind of stuff...there is plunty of fun puzzle games on the PSP and there is so many great new ground games like elite beat agents for the PC...I really don't see the need for touch controls for example to have a fun game. Touch controls are not everything, it is fun for a while...and I didn't yell into the mic thing on the DS just for your info to get a price cut in Zelda phantom hour glass...I just snapped my fingers and it worked...I am losing time playing games but the last thing I want to lose is my dignity screaming into a little white box.

I do agree, you don't need it to have fun. I was just saying that was the only arguement you could use against PC. Although the arguement is null for consoles also, because none of them have really innovate anything *glares at Wii*.
Normal controlled games can be fun when they innovate the experience like E4 or Crush. Alot of indie devs do that, and they are home to the PC. I would say that is the advantage of PC...the freedom to make games so they get the better ones.

I think the only argument against the PC is the entire no fighting games and platformers....Fans of those probably will not have as much fun with the PC. It was obvious long time ago that nintendo will continue to try new things like controllers and voice activiated sequences in games...ever since they started with that entire power glove, than came that horrible virtual boy thing....infact when I look back and compare to today I think nintendo's best inovation has been the wii.

Of course you can do the same thing on PC for some time now... my Opera browser on my laptop is programmed to be completely voice-controlled, and text-to-tyep during a game is likely possible (if not already existant). Oh, and there are touchscreen LCDs you can buy and install on your PC, so if you really wanted to play your games with a stylus or the like... or you could just buy a tablet PC.

What's that old axiom? Practice makes perfect?
By now, Hermits, or pro-PC gamers, debate skills must be far from perfect. They just haven't had any practice against new arguments. See, for years now Hermits have been attacked with the same old arguments:
- The PC lacks genre diversity.
- Nobody games on PCs anymore.
- A gaming PC costs you thousands of dollars every few years.
- The PC doesn't have any games.
Now, every system has a few System Wars memes that refuse to die.
For the Wii, it's that it's kiddy, or that it's last gen.
The 360 that they all break, or don't have any games besides shooters.
The PS3 that it has no games, is circling the drain, or is the 'just wait' system'.
However none of these other systems misconceptions are so viral and so long lasting as the ones concerning the PC. None of these misconceptions form the only assaults ever made against the PC.
The other main difference with the PC is that these misconceptions were empirically and conclusively disproven long ago. This then causes a problem for Hermit debates.
Somebody says nobody games on the PC anymore? They just link some of these facts.
Someone says the PC is only FPS, RTS and MMORPGS? Yawn, not it has plenty.
No games? Nope. (This one is even stickied, eliminating any hope Hermits might do some studious research).
You can see the problem beginning to form. Everytime the PC is attacked, the attack is so dated, so cliche, so easily dispelled, that Hermits have absolutely no need to even think about what their saying. They've seen it so many times before and so definitely that it's pointless to even think about it. There's probably a link disproving.
Therefore, anti-PC fanboys, I beg you, be dynamic. Hit Hermits where they haven't been hit. Make some new arguments, so their debate skills don't completely die out, since at the moment they only need to link to a sticky to counteract the drivel you spout.
Danm_999
You set up straw men. You knock them down. And you pretend like you have added something to a discussion.
A lot of the same arguments are brought up because there is some truth in them.
PS3 earned its "Delaystation" name. Several PS3 versions of games get delayed. And the fact remains that PS3 has no exclusive AAA here or at gamerankings. The lack of compelling exclusive games is real.
Xbox 360 gets ragged on for the RROD. Suprisingly enough, that wasn't just invented by cows. I heard one say "all launch Xbox will have RROD at some point, it is not a matter of if but when." That may be an exageration, but what if it is true?
The Wii does indeed suffer from its last gen graphics. Most multiplatform titles look like crap on the Wii. Gameplay>Graphics. But if someone says that the Wii's has crappy graphics, they aren't just making stuff up.
You side step the most valid and long lasting argument vs PC gaming: Cost. It sure doesn't cost thousands to up-grade a PC, but 1500-2000 would be a fair estimate at what a new modest gaming PC would cost. And that 350 dollar Xbox is going to play Bioshock, Oblivion, COD4, and Orange box just about as good. The Hermits will dance around the issue and some will even post stupid stuff like "I built a PC that plays Crysis on High for $700." Or they factor in the cost of an HDTV in a consoles cost to try to make it match a PC's cost. The fact is, PC gaming costs significantly more than console gaming.
PC gaming isn't going to die. It isn't going to run out of players, or games. It is, on the other hand going to continue to see some of it's best developers continue to switch to more console centric models. There was a time when Mass Effect (and other Bioware games), Halo 3, Gears of War, Fable 2, and other would have been PC exclusives. Intead the PC gamers are stuck with ports that often suffer in the translation. Gears may look better on PC, but you cant take the "console" design out of the game.
PC gaming lives on, it just does so in the limelight of the games industry.

God I wish those things were straw man fallacies. Seriously there is too much evidence of this stuff on System Wars:
The 'No Games' Argument
The 'PC is Dead' Argument
And these are only examples with clear titles showing the fallacies, and only from the past week or so. Go into any long thread about the PC, I guarantee you will see each of these misconceptions mentioned.
It has been happening for months.
A lot of the same arguments are brought up because there is some truth in themPS3 earned its "Delaystation" name. Several PS3 versions of games get delayed. And the fact remains that PS3 has no exclusive AAA here or at gamerankings. The lack of compelling exclusive games is real.

As I said, these cases are a little more ambigious and there is a little more justifying them. I bluntly said this was what seperated the PC and the consoles misconpcetions. The PC's had been very empirically disproven.
However, there is still so much hyperbole in those console misonceptions.

I'd rather not play with the cost debate. Why? It's so subjective.
I know it costs more to buy a gaming PC than a console. But the defence of thousands of dollars every few years is wrong. That's all I'm defending.
PC gaming isn't going to die. It isn't going to run out of players, or games. Again, this is something I can't find logic with.
You use the examples of Halo 3, Gears of War, Mass Effect and Fable 2.
Firstly, Bungie has split from MS. I suspect we'll be seeing PC games from them in the future.
Gears of War and UT3 show Epic still very much place the PC as their priority.
Molyneaux certainly does lean towards the consoles now, but Lionhead games still come to the PC.
Bioware has never kept a game from the PC. I doubt Mass Effect will be a 360 exclusive forever. And what is there next game? Dragon Age, a PC exclusive.
Meanwhile, Blizzard is as faithful to the PC as ever.
Ubisoft and Kojima have expressed desires to work more resolutely with the PC. Example: Far Cry 2.
EA has shown interest in an end to the console war, and a single unified platform.
Crytek has ported their engine, but not their game.
There is still a lot of support from developers for the PC.
Seems like BlackBond missed something huge. I haven't even bothered to look at this thread.Blackbond
Nothing major, basically consolite poor attempts to debunk undeniable facts with their own misconceptions. We stand now in an era where the "console gaming" of Sony and Microsoft's design is dying. Even now the scent of their grand decay, the huge money-losers their gaming divisions have become - warn of their future.
Meanwhile PC gaming continues to change, with Apple gamers joining the fold... Nintendo is the only console manufacturer who seems to "get it" - th recognize the need for a system like the DS - cheap, portable, durable, fun...but Microsoft's Xbox project...
The future is neither traditional PC nor traditional console... sales charts tell the story all too well... neither is the perfect solution - but what is to come? I will tell you perhaps later...
Do you hear the bells Blackbond? Their time is over, it is *our time* once again. The return of the true gamer will be wonderful. Fight consolites, fight hard, may your blind faith in multinational corporate greed and closed-systems burn along with your hatred - may it fuel the return of the gaming systems and games of the true gamer.
Here the madman fell silent and looked again at his listeners; and they, too, were silent and stared at him in astonishment. At last he threw his lantern on the ground, and it broke into pieces and went out. "I have come too early," he said then; "my time is not yet. This tremendous event is still on its way, still wandering; it has not yet reached the ears of men. Lightning and thunder require time; the light of the stars requires time; deeds, though done, still require time to be seen and heard. This deed is still more distant from them than most distant stars---and yet they have done it themselves.
Crysis is fun and all...but by the soul-wrenching riffs of Demonoid, The Witcher is an absolute fricking blast.
Good post. Unfortunately, you KNOW most console-ite fanboys are steering clear of this thread. Only a couple sneak in, post something stupid/retarded/debunked, then scurry out like their anus is on fire.
One more mention of Crysis...the game seems to have spawned many new hermits that go on the offensive. And I'd bet that about 30% are fakeboys.
EDIT: I don't know why, but all of smokey's posts had me lol'ing. The "Crysis!" statement played in my head like when Damon Wayans says "Message!" in the movie "Don't be a menace to society...".

Therefore, anti-PC fanboys, I beg you, be dynamic. Hit Hermits where they haven't been hit. Make some new arguments, so their debate skills don't completely die out, since at the moment they only need to link to a sticky to counteract the drivel you spout.

How does a Pc cost 1500-2000 to run games?
The Ps3 fanboys lack good shooters so they have to act like they have high end PCs and are able to play Crysis which owns Halo 3.Crysis is fun and all...but by the soul-wrenching riffs of Demonoid, The Witcher is an absolute fricking blast.

You missed a huge hermit circle jerk where they continue to act as if the PC is the only way to game and there is no problem with PC gaming that can't be fixed with a mix of piracy and hardware upgrades.
By your crude and disgusting first sentence it would seem that you got served.
