I don't care if someone **** at me that WRPG isn't a genre, Western made RPGs play differently and are completely boring.
[QUOTE="jasonharris48"]It still doesn't look interesting to me, and I was a huge fan of the first title.

Skipping this for the witcher 2.MFDOOM1983You can't have watch the whole thing in the short time it took you guys to post. The PC version plays the same as da:o I am currently watching the video. It still doesn't look interesting to me lol.
Don't really wana see, I've seen enough to know certain things piss me off, like menu layout, character screens, they go for minimalist and simple but they just look dull. I'll still get it eventually, but was hoping they would not do more (or less in this case) of DA, I loved DA, but it was fairly dumbed down compared to previous Bioware fantasy RPGs, was hoping to get more depth this time around, not less. Even if the fighting is pretty much the same, a few things are flawed at the core. For example, not customizing allies, this is a very non-RPG thing to do, it was okay for ME cause it was an TPS, its not okay for an RPG :| On top of that, the fact that you can only queue one attack because the developers said you won't ever need to use more than one attack when fighting regular enemies is such a stupid concept, its pretty much like dynasty warriors, where you fight a ton of weak enemies, instead of smaller groups of tough ones.

Yes.
Meh a game made by Bioware that means it will be mediocre and made for people who don't want to play REAL rpg's.
No thanks I take The Witcher 2 over Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3.

The Witcher 1 and 2 actually are REAL rpg's and very good ones too unlike Mass Effect 2/3 and Dragon Age 2 which are just 2 TPS'ers and a button masher.

I've seen PC gameplay months ago, and it looks fine, I admitted that it looked more like DA:O then I was expecting, which is nice enough, but less customization and the lame wheel where you pick an emotion with a short few words (like in ME) really pisses me off regardless. Why does the combat look so one-way? Can enemies not block your attacks or attack you if your attacking them?
Bleh.

Your just nickpiking. Nope. Its because people take everything so lightly that RPGs can continue to be dumbed down. Why is it okay to not be able to customize your characters? Why is it okay that you get a stupid wheel where it shows you right in the middle what you're going to imply? It was stupid as hell in ME with the red and blue options, since you always knew blue or red could get you out of situations, this makes it even worse and gives an emotion to every option. In Baldur's Gate, you get a big list of sentances, and you pick the one best suited to your character and his role, in ME series and now DA2, you pick like 3 words and he'll just roll with it by himself. Let me go into this a bit deeper then, in some RPGs and games like Zelda, they try to make you the main character by making him silent, all he ever does is assumedly say the options you pick, and answer generically whatever you would answer, therefore he never talks. It ruins this immersion when all you pick is 1-3 words that just happen to be an idea, and the main character will continue the conversation without your input, why even let you pick? Its like false role playing.
DA2 is an excellent example of PC gaming holding back the industry. If it wasn't for the PC, DA2 would a deep, fast paced hack and slash game with an above average story. But now just look at it.... for it to appeal to the PC crowd they are keeping half-assed RPG elements and in order for the game to be playable with mouse and keyboard they turned into a mediocre, shallow and slow hack and slash title. Basically instead of being more like Ninja Gaiden or DMC its designed to have a shallow point and click gameplay to appeal to the PC crowd.
I think I should start my own topic with this.

Its like false role playing. People don't mind because it's made by Bioware. I really don't see how it's dumb down.(Note:LoZ is not an rpg and silent hero's are a very cheap and poor tactic.) All they did was make it less complex and more flexible. Even FO:NV is one of the newer more flexible types of rpgs avalible. As for roleplaying, BG2 may have a large set of action avalible but in character building, it is far more limited compared to what's avalible today in character role playing due to most people you met said one line or the game had control when you talked to your team.
It isn't meant to be be a Hack & Slash though. It's a RPG (as shallow as the actually RPG elements are). BTW what makes you think it would of been a deep hack & slash title in the first place? I take it you're not familiar with Bioware.DA2 is an excellent example of PC gaming holding back the industry. Yeah great argument there, considering the combat in the Witcher is entirely about timing your clicks. Is Deus Ex not an RPG anymore because it's an FPS and it doesn't have enough little squares to fill in on its character sheet?
