This is sweet news. Also, it sounds like 3G coverage might be getting crammed in there too. PSP2 is going to be deliciously insane.

gamerfan85

Yes. Insane is the perfect word for such a great piece of hardware. The PSP 1000 is still a great system, even after the 2 reboots. Coolyfett didnt enjoy the PSP Go idea, he has great faith that the PSP 4G will be an amazing device. Sony is just awesome. Peace & Love

And while i'm at it, nVidia is known to release drivers for their graphic cards that actually improve the performance considerably, why haven't we've seen something like it for the PS3 since they did it on the PSP?Kane04

Consoles don't have drivers like a PC does, since they don't have to go through a graphics API that abstracts out the hardware. Instead they have direct access to the hardware. All of the graphics calls will be built into the game's executable, and there's no way to change that without issuing a patch for that game. Through a console's lifetime the console maker of course improves the performance of the graphics libraries that they give to developers, but that only affects games that are built with the new version of the SDK.

[QUOTE="BreakTheseLinks"]You should change the title of the thread as it's a blatant lie. The only source that could have made this confirmed news is Sony and Sony alone. However, if this is true, then I would be very interested in the PSP2. I just hope theyadd anew dimension to the handheld (like Nintendo with the 3d...). I think what makes most sense is making the PSP2 an always on 3G/4G device.ShadowriverUB

Well they working on new platform thats for sure, rumors on 3DS started year before annoucment as i remember.

Oh and by 4G you mean WiMax ofcorse? ^^ it would be a killer, but current cover is not very impressive, most of networks are experimental here in europe

The PSP 4G is going to be really awesome. It is rumor time for the device, it is unfortunate that many gamers wish it didnt exist, but fact remains Sony is in the Lab and they are coming with something MASSIVE. Its going to be unstoppable!

90 million triangles per second? my samsung captivate does that. the good thing about the tegra 2 is the dual-core cortex A9, which is more energy efficient that the A8 and amount 20% faster at the same clock speed.

90 million textured, untextured, etc? which one, cuz thats the part that is important. How well does it deal with being textured etc? does it drop 10mil poly's etc etc.

Why are people still in denial that PSP is a great first generation handheld that did extremely well? No matter how well the DS does it still can't take away the 60 million PSP units sold...it's not a simple add and subtract math equation.

ThePlothole

Sony knocked Nintendo out of the park with its first generation home console. Everyone expected the PSP to do the same in the handheld market. Ultimately it did fail to live up to those expectations.

Also the PSP's general game sales just aren't spectacular outside of Japan.

Everyone? Stretching the truth a bit aren't we. If in the real world success was measured by your near impossible expectations, then everything would be failures. Fortunately it does not.

If you're going to stretch the truth then treat them as facts, then there's really nothing to say here. At best, you're pulling the wool over your own eyes.

Main problem is this, Nintendo have so much support already with the 3DS so the longer Sony leave the PSP2 the more ground they will have to make up in support off developers and support from people who are willing to buy their next Handheld. They could produce a Handheld Console surpassing the PS3 but if they dont have both kinds of support then its all in vain. Love the PSP i have to say and wish i never sold it.Dibdibdobdobo

Patience, its not so bad. The PSP 4G will most likely have 2 analog sticks, 4G networking for online & a very nice camera. Do not allow the artificial reporters on this thread to cloud your judgement. Sonys calculations are in good stride. Theirbiggest concern is cost. They have to be competitive in theprice. That the only reason they were outsold. Mother buy their children what they can afford. All will work out forSony, just have patience.

3rd parties will come to PSP2 too, it depends what PSP2 will have to offer for developers. If Sony will gether at least same fanbase as PSP and get rid off piracy problem 3rd parties should come.
