Saying Halo is on the same level as Star Wars is the same thing as saying Hannah Montana is as big as The Beatles.

Slashkice

I agree completely.

[QUOTE="Rza_rectah"][QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]Butcher it. :| You obviously didn't follow the process of the Halo movie when it was in the process of going to development. Bungie had to approve the script, and would look over it. Peter Jackson and Neil would be in control, both of which are big Halo fans. Butcher it? What a joke. The Halo movie was in great hands, it fell through because it was too expensive for Fox and Universal. The dumbasses. I thought Halo 3's launch (making 300 million in a day?) would spur interest in the movie, sadly, it did not.kolkov01
Game to Movie Adaptations are usually bad. I can count the good ones on one hand. FF 7 Advent children, Mortal Kombat 1, Hitman, Street Fighter: Alpha thats all i can think of. Everything else is not worth mention. But with names you mentioned it does sound like it would have made a good blockbuster movie. Peter alone would have made it a good movie. Another thing even if the movie turned out bad the fans would not admit to that and thats a fact.

FF 7 advent children good? Seriously? :lol:

Yeah, I would've put even Max Payne over all game-to-movie adaptations except for Silent Hill (The best IMO).

[QUOTE="heretrix"]

I'd rather wait until I'm disappointed but real problems than be disappointed beforehand about imaginary problems I know absolutely nothing about.

I am the last person to defend EA, I still boycott Madden to this day, but the last year and a half has been very promising:

Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, Battlefield:Bad Comapny, Burnout Paradise have all been quality experiences unmarred by corporate stupidity.They let Criterion release AN ENTIRE YEAR OF FREE DLC. If that isn't proof that they want to do things differently, then nothing will convince you. Of course there will be instances of greed, but for the most part, they are doing some good stuff. Ease off the hate. It's seriously blinding you.

codezer0

Burnout Paradise? a good game? yea... :roll: Sorry, but it did so many things blatantly wrong to be enjoyable, especially when compared to #3. And they also didn't fix the ultra-cheap AI that too prevented me from ever finishing Burnout 3. Dead Space? Besides the fact that it grew repetitive because there were only one or two weapons worth using, the demo was so hard to deal with that it turned me off to the game. All in all, the game gave off the feel that it was trying to be system shock 3, and failed at that, too. Bad Company? Don't make me laugh. That game was laughably bad, especially when compared to CoD4. Mirror's Edge? Alright, I commend EA for at least trying with this one. I couldn't get into it, but I can't blame them for that. I can at least commend them for actually trying something different for a change.

Then it's like I said. You basically just want to hate. I'll leave you to it then.

[QUOTE="TREAL_Since"]Harry Potter is this generation's Star Wars. As far as video games go, Halo is the biggest phenomenon, but I wouldn't call it the best game world/story. Wait about 5 years and Mass Effect universe will be the best sci-fi wise :) (it's still quite young).jg4xchamp
I don't know about this era's star wars for Mass Effect either, alot of the sci-fi buffs like complaining that its too unoriginal and rips off every major Sci-fi universe possible. I mean Halo has alot of stuff from Aliens, but it had its own twist as well.

Both Halo and ME are inspired by works before them. I just like the writing, universe, and characters in ME more...for obvious reasons. I don't think it'll ever be as popular as Halo in general though.

This is what we call a classic hater.

Who says I'm hating? :| I don't find those games you'd mentioned that good. And EA ruined many others as well. Thus, I have little reason to believe they won't ruin something like Mass Effect 2.

Well you could at least acknowledge that most of those games were thought of highly by critics and gamers, whatever your opinion is...

See, that's where you're wrong. In the end, it doesn't matter what anyone else says... it's how you feel about a game that will ultimately determine if it's any good or not. I don't care what anyone says. I think Halo is awful; it started out good with the original, and had since went on a slippery slope to utter failure. Legend of Zelda is also another series I find completely awful. But to both respective plantforms they're for (in this case, MIcrosoft's Xbox and the Nintendo consoles), there's usually plenty of other stuff for them that I like a lot, so that I don't have to give a rat's ass about these "marquee" franchises. The one that still stings to me is what EA did to Def Jam; especially considering that EA really could have just kept their hands out of it and had a long-running, successful franchise like Madden. The graphics were good, the combat was excellent... and yet EA dicked with the formula, and replaced the engine with Fight Night, and then we get that steaming pile of fail they call ICON. So, given EA's track record with **** up otherwise good companies and games when they get involved, what reason should I have to believe that they won't find a way to ruin Bioware's product from here on out?

Star Wars is a movie that had a great cast. Halo is a great video game that lacks a cast outside of the Chief, Cortana, and Johnson basically.

[QUOTE="skrat_01"][QUOTE="krp008"]

Both sequels beat the record for fastest form of entertainment in 1 night, EVER selling nearly 3 million in preorders alone each sequel... So yea, its definitely a phenomenon

krp008

It a fast selling video game. So? Its not a phenomnenon. As much as you may like it, its the reality of things.

You dont understand. Its the most popular form of entertainment in the US, EVER. That includes all movies including Star Wars

And its not a phenomenon.

Jeesh.

Neither is Call of Duty, The Sims and World of Warcraft.

You are confusing it with a video game that pushes alot of copies.
