This is a virtual chatroom called There Its like home only not as graphically superior. But its alot better because it lets you create your own clothes, homes, businesses everything. Home is just a rippoff of these kind of virtual chatrooms like There and Second life. I dont see how sony fanboys think this can even compete with xbox live

It's hard to be a rip-off when it's free......but yes, it's nothing huge. Well, it might be compared to the PS3's current library....

Yep. I didn't dispute that. I'm just saying there's no reason to bash it. It looks like fun. If you don't like it, don't get it.

So is second life. You only need to pay for extra stuff... much like in PSN Home, though i'm guessing home will let you have some land for your stuff.

How can it be a ripoff if it's free? If you mean it being like another service, I have to ask are any of those on a console?

I would also like to know if you can chat virtually and then go right into a game with those you were chatting with, or watch a movie together, or invite them to your virtual home for a game of pool, or... ah nevermind.

All XBL did was take all of the things people liked about the various way PC online gaming worked and put them in one service. If Home rips-off in the same way, so what. It's free.

Home let's you do a hell of a lot more things than Second Life or anything like that, like enter an online game directly from Home with your friends or stream movies through your Home so your friends can watch them with you sitting in their real houses.

I can't remember the last time I saw someone make a big deal about Home in this forum. A few scattered people here and there maybe, but not the giant worshippinng you're claiming.

well its something different then what live or w/e nintendo is cooking up suposedly...i mean teach. it is a first on consoles...but this kind of thing like live has been around for awhile....but its free...and you get to watch your friends movies and such so i guess in that aspect its also in theory alot like youtube too... maybe thats why people like it...even though i have yet to see anyone get really excided about it since it was first announced

Second Life has an ecomony. one user has made $1,000,000 alone from the virtual world, people have given up high paid jobs to work in Sceond Life. You can do so much more in second life than you can in Home, it's no comparison.

there once was a virtual 3D space already in which people could meet...

big deal.

So, any idea that has been done before and is picked up by someone else is a rip-off? Seriously dude...

Since it hasn't been done on a console before, I don't see what the problem is. If anything it'll help the popularity of it's PC counterpart. To be honest I had never even heard of Second life until @Home was announced.

that also lets you do what youtube does...and who ever said that it isnt necessary...well your right...neither is youtube...look how big that has become, now im not saying home will be as big as youtube considering how few ps3's are in peoples homes (comparitively) that cant be dont on any other consoles at that oh and a 2nd rate rip-off only applies to rip-offs that suck more then the first...which home look like it will be alteast better looking....however it could be poorly exacuted

I fail to see how something can be a "rippoff" if its free and please...Virtual Laguna Beach? If I want to talk with a bunch of vain *****es I already know of plenty that live near where I do.

Regarding Second Life..have fun getting spammed with, "cyber?", "a/s/l", and watching all the flying *****es go by.

Well, of course it's comparable to those things. But I think you fail to see what Home primarily is: a network platform for the PS3 community, accessible directly from the console. This will also be where you'll download your demos, trailer, talk / play mini games with your friends or invite them directly to an ongoing online PS3 game.

It's similar, but it's different.

And for god's sake, don't be so quick to use the word rip-off. If you go by that, everything's a rip-off these days. Even this very forum, cause I'm sure it's been done before elsewhere. :rolleyes:Â
