you still dont get what im trying to say who would pay an extra 600 dollars when they already have a pc that can play better virtual chatrooms like There and Second Life and yes these worlds are better due to the fact that you can create your own lands and iteams without paying for premade iteams. Not to mention Second Life has its own economy and real estate and actual virtual colleges where you can go te hear lectures.

chaos-SD

Your logic is flawed. One is not paying an EXTRA six hundred dollars for anything, they are paying $600 for a PS3. It DOES NOT matter if most people already own a PC. That PC had to be purchased at some point. PC's don't just come with houses, and they certainly don't appear out of thin air. Maybe your parents own one and you use it, but they had to pay for it, and at some point you will have to purchase one.

the point is why pay extra money for a feature thats on the pc which everyone already owns. Its like whats the point of buying a jaguar for the the FM player when your Rolls Royce already come with XM

I don't think you know what the original arguement even is...it's Second life and There is better than Home. When one compares things like theseone must take into account that everyone has access to these 2 things or has experienced them enough to compare them. that alone can make the arguement flawed since very few people have experienced home, and the fact that most are approaching this topic with a facist opinion. Now when comparing these 2 things the fact that one is on PS3 and the others are on PC can be brought up. However, since the original arguement stems from comparing Home and Second Life one must compare these two units equally as well. So one must know that each of these units have to be purchased. It does not matter if more people already own one, because that will lead to a flawed arguement as well. So you must take into consideration that everyone either has to purchase both a PC and PS3 or that everyone already owns both. So IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT MOST PEOPLE ALREADY OWN A PC!
Also, you still have not proven that There or Second Life is better than Home, because at this point it is Impossible.

youre right i cant prove home is better then second life because home isnt out. But you cant remove the fact that most people own pcs and use a hypothetically situation to prove a point. Because the fact of the matter is that there are a hell of alot more people who own pcs and there are very few people who own a ps3 in comparaison. You cant excuse that fact so the the question remains why spend an extra 600 dollars on a feature you already can get for free

Yes, it's not hypathetical, everyone had to purchase a PC at some point.  That's all there is to it, so stop trying to excuse the fact that everyone, HAD TO purchase a PC to own a PC.  Peace out, I'm done here because your arguement is flawed and your trying to run it in circles just so you can win.  I urge other users not to argue with this one.

I don't think you get it Second Life fanboy .Why would people interested in the ps3 care about Second Life ? Home is tailor made for ps3 owners and Second Life is for other people and other things not related to playstation or playstation fans.

1. It's free 2. I can play movies, music, and show pictures on my PS3 while in HOME 3. There will be new advertisements for games and companies within HOME ala the mall area 4. Games with online features will be tied into HOME so we can meet up with friends and go play I don't really see the problem. It does have roots in games and chat hubs but it's also furthering those. Your argument is ridiculous and I don't know why you're even trying to bash HOME.

Uh...who the hell cares? It's free.

You don't see people whining about stupid **** like how the Everybody Votes Channel is a ripoff of Democracy.  Plus, Home is more than just a 3D chatroom.

This is a virtual chatroom called There Its like home only not as graphically superior. But its alot better because it lets you create your own clothes, homes, businesses everything. Home is just a rippoff of these kind of virtual chatrooms like There and Second life. I dont see how sony fanboys think this can even compete with xbox live

ParadiddleFill

So you don't think Home will be any good? That's not a ripoff. It's free and optional. Where's the ripoff? A ripoff is actually being forced to pay to play games online when the company providing it could very easily make it free for their customers. A ripoff is buying a system considered to be elite when the harddrive that makes it so "elite" is way overpriced. A ripoff is not some optional online community that is free.

It doesn't have to be new first of all to be a nice addition. And secondly , it is tailor made for playstation fans and it is free so why not get excited about it if it looks like something you want to participate in ? Some people will love it , others will like it , and some will not like it. Saying that it is nothing to get excited about is just opinion.

Nobody cares about similar PC offerings that have nothing to do with playstation.

[QUOTE="shungokustasu"].I see. Wanna go Sigmund Freud on me? Fine then, Why do you play video games? Vandalvideo
Do you want me to go Sigmund Frued? I will. Video games themselves are a strong psychological stimulant that cause all kinds of chemicals to be released in the brain. Something like this could easily cause an artificial dependance. Tie that to something like a 3D enviroment and you can easily explain why WoW has become such a phenomenon. With the addition of simulated social interaction and the release of psychological stimulates, its a powerful "drug". This mental illness is known as IDA, and is traeted by the Center For Internet Addiction and Recovery. I play video games to have fun, but theres a fie night line between fun and addiction. CFIAR: http://netaddiction.com/ Well that was a nice little tangent.

actual Frued was a psychoanalyitic psychologist. but anways good point.

lol. Exactly. Free is a ripoff where? No where. If Sony forced Home on its customers and attached a mandatory fee for Home then we could talk ripoff.

How can it be a ripoff if it's free? If you mean it being like another service, I have to ask are any of those on a console?

I would also like to know if you can chat virtually and then go right into a game with those you were chatting with, or watch a movie together, or invite them to your virtual home for a game of pool, or... ah nevermind.

If you have ever player there you would know about all the things you can do, like race dunebuggies and boats or atvs plus you can play pool and tennis and pretty much anysport you cant watch a movie thats true

The PS3 has games at the moment and will have more by the time HOME launches. You should have said "games I'd like to play".

How the hell else would it thrive? In your attempts to bash a perfectly good feature, you only convolute your arguements.

theres not much original about XBL if thats what you are implying....unified online services have been around for a long time, like Gamespy arcade or Battle.net

KAS3Y_JAM3Z

Too bad it's on a console not souly on the pc.

sooo, you kinda failed a little bit there pal.

and the exact same can be said with these services similar to Home.

[QUOTE="MegaPigeon"]It's hard to be a rip-off when it's free......but yes, it's nothing huge. Well, it might be compared to the PS3's current library....jechtshot78

i guess you shouldent complain when its free, but its just funny how cows think home is the second coming, when virtual chatrooms like there and second life have been around for years

Sure it borrows stuff from Second Life, but it impliments all of the Playstation stuff into it and gives PS3 gamers a chance to interact with each other in something other than a competitive video game. XBL doens't even let you do that.

Its the truth. Just becuase Sony made it is catching so much flak. It is a good idea. Remeber, it is not a requirement either, it is just an addition to the online, a free one as well.

I plan on buying a PS3 when home comes out, as do a lot of others I know. And people will still be buying PS3 after home comes out, and will download it and play, etc. So it isnt like it won't become big. It is more accessable to these people than Xbox live gold, because it is free. HOME incorperates a lot of things that second life doesn't, and almost(Becaus it is unproven) unifies the PSN.

So is second life. You only need to pay for extra stuff... much like in PSN Home, though i'm guessing home will let you have some land for your stuff.

Many things are free. Do we have the right to complain about them?

Cancer is free - that doesn't mean it's something I want. However, PSN is NOT free - you have to buy a PS3 to join it. As someone who doesn't own a PS3, and doesn't think there's enough online support to make me want one, Sony is walking a critical line. If they can't offer better matchmaking, then HOME becomes a meaningless add-on.

[QUOTE="distrbdslipsoad"]home is like second life with advertisements. :|turgore

yeah ...it's horrible ...Imagine a world filled with Sony products .

That actually is pretty horrible - Sony hasn't made a decent receiver, speaker, or subwoofer in decades... and I'm not exactly keen about vaio laptops.

Exactly, Second Life you pay a month by month plan.

With Home, nothing. Second Life is also a stupid rip-off, I played a trail. Sims is alot better than that. The first one even...

Are you actually complaining about HOME? Of course it has been done before. so what? It's a cool, service and it's FREEOnizuka36

it's not a service. it's a game. Something Cows always mix up (Live vs Home, and all that junk).
