If we're talking strictly about the game's plot, setting and characters, Homefront is a huge success. And I want to see more from this fictional universe.
It is good to see such high praise for plot and story.
The PS3 version should score a little better because it looks noticably better.wooooodePS3? Or did you mean PC? :P

That seems like strong praise to me:
I liked Homefront a lot, and yet I acknowledge that the aspects of the game I like the most aren't the most important in determining whether the game is great or not. Homefront is certainly one of the most unique shooters I've ever played, driven by an ingenious and surprisingly well-fleshed out plot and a dark and dreary, realistic setting.
Actually the graphics are much worse than COD, trust meI'll need to play this to see these "dated graphics" for myself. Everything I've seen of it has it looking better than CoD, which continually gets a free ride on its graphics. This may be the first game I rent in quite some time.

Can't do it. CoD is graphically subpar in every way. Seems like a dev would have to try to slip underneath that standard.
There is so much wrong with this review...ugh...
Gameplay 7 Homefront feels like your typical shooter. It's fun, but it doesn't do anything new or exciting.
So does every yearly COD game and 90% of shooters, but they get high scores...
Graphics 6.5 Homefront isn't ugly by any stretch of the imagination, but it looks rather bad if you place it next to the likes of graphics-pushing titles such as Killzone 3 or Crysis 2.
What the **** kind of logic is that. No game compared to Crysis in 2007...They still don't. Also, COD games...
Lasting Appeal 7 This is tough. Homefront's single-player campaign is disappointingly short, but some of that deficit is made up by its robust multiplayer offerings.
You mean like every other shooter, but they all get high scores. Ugh...please IGN, stop with your incompetence.
I thought the funny thing about the review was how he is saying he really likes the story and presentation, but people who don't care about those things uh, well, basically won't care about those things.
He's not giving his opinion, he's guessing the mainstream one. Hearsay.
Got the game a few hours ago, early for PC. Graphics are much better for Homefront on PC than on 360, they're not "spectacular" on PC, but they are good however and it's very enjoyable. The story is really GREAT. And the online is also good aswell, playing on PC with dedicated servers, no lag, some pretty large scale maps, Crossroads is one of the, with some pretty interesting game modes and the drones are pretty fun to play around with. It may not be a 10/10 game, but it's definitely great, a lot better than COD Blops for sure. Homefront reminds me a lot of Massive Action Game on the ps3, except with better graphics, and online.TheAcountantMan
Glad to hear that. STEAM is downloading the game at the moment.
I'm mainly interested in the singleplayer, and I don't mind if it's short if the game really delivers (it apparently does). I also got Metro 2033 on release and I didn't regret it, even though it was very short as well and did not have any multiplayer.

Some really good points here. The game probably just didn't feel totally polished, so the reviewer refused to give a higher score, but the argumentation is just lacking.
Well the presentation got a 9.0 that's good and it plays like COD so why give it a low score?TheGuardian03
If you watched the video the reviewer was pretty much Biased with alter future history, which was probably the reason why he gave it a 9
[QUOTE="Lto_thaG"]And that's bad. You know your FPS is bad when CoD is better.Oh please.COD s**** all over this game.

Yes,that's definitely a bad thing.Every game needs a great story to match the gameplay.[QUOTE="finalfantasy94"]
[QUOTE="Lto_thaG"]Oh please.
COD sales like hell and scores like hell.People should get over themselves.
It's not insane or ridiculous to like COD.
To say HF would beat COD,yup, that would be insane.Lto_thaG

Buying the game regardless. IGN's review is the first low one (in comparison) besides edge.
And a lot of its critizism can be slapped on any other shooter....
they just didn't bring the reviewers "swag"

It's not negative.Like I said, not every game needs to blow you away with its story. It's amazing how many people are so observant for a story when the game is COD. You want an exciting story,go watch a movie or read a book.Games can only get you that far.[QUOTE="finalfantasy94"]

Did you not see the backlash of KZ3 story. games can have a interesting plot its just COD doesint have that at least imo. That whole watch a movie or read a book excuse is old.

The excuse is still usable.People like to find a fun and interesting story in every game.Truth is,it's not. They end up whining about the fact that there is no story at all,yet they keep searching for 'em in games like cod and killzone.I don't give a crap for a story in those games, because they are what they are.Explosive shooters. Not every game needs a mindblowing story.SW just kicks down a game if it doesn't have a good story, which is just BS in my eyes. They spend too much time looking into a game.why is every shooter trying to be like cod according to these forums? sheesh.:( cod f duty isn't the pinnacle of shooters.
Enough about the 5 hour campaign, thats how fps are nowadays, black ops was like that, moh was even shorter, about 3.5 kz3 was about 5 hours and i saw a video walktrough of crysis 2 being under 6 hours.
Apart from that. The game looked and played far inferior to cod from that gameplay footage, so please, no cod comparisons here. Cod is king on what it does, homefront is a mediocre ripoff of it.dakan45
