What an amazing view of the games core world in Horizon: Zero Dawn. I'm really impress what the PS4 can do and looking forward to playing this game so I can share my experience opinions next week.

After watching a few gameplay videos of this I'm convinced that Guerilla are some of the worst dialogue writers in the industry. It's almost like amateur film maker level. Like, Ubisoft look like Tarantino in comparison.

I tried watching it 6 times but keep dozing off before I even get half way though the snooze fest. Eh, typical and par for the course for a Bore game. :P

This just proves though that it's not about how powerful a hardware can be but how well someone( a dev in particular) can utilize that hardware.

Eh, kind of gives me a GTA 5 and Fallout 4 vibe. I mean, looks nice, but some of those textures look blurry as hell.

I think the foliage isn't as dense as it is in crysis for instance. Allthough it should be possible to make such dense foliage. You can easily max out crysis on a hd 7850 (which is basically what's in a ps4) and there's more than enough cpu power in the ps4 to run crysis as well.

@commander: dude crysis 3 has lots of things besides foliage that is better. Like particle effects, Water effect etc etc.

But for an open world RPG you have to admit horizon looks absolutely amazing. If you wantt fair comparison compare the foliage with Witcher 3. It's better than Witcher.

On a console? Maybe, I guess. I'm sure in terms of actual technical achievement, there are PC games from years ago still ahead. Crysis 3 is still a very high bar. And this doesn't look much better than modded Skyrim. And that game will run on a potato these days. And likely offers a whole lot bang for the buck.

We haven't seen this in a open world game, modded skyrim maybe, but let's face it, animals and npc's don't look half as good. Not to mention buildings, houses and structures. Robot animals are probably easier to make but still, artwork and presentation is a factor too.

Skyrim is a 5-6 year old game, no amount of mods can make it look like it's from 2017. I don't think there's any way around it, most likely we have a new graphics king and it's a playstation exclusive...

You can't even play the resolution card anymore, not really anyway, the pro version is running at 2160p checkerboard.

@Quicksilver128: Yeah for an open world game horizon has the best visuals out of the box(I'm saying this because some here are comparing a modded game with base game). On the other hand I have to diagree on Crysis 3.

At least Crytek has three genre defining games to their credit apart from the fact that hey are the pioneers of the modern rendering techs all devs now use. The same can't be said for Garbage Games.

You don't know modded Skyrim...

And this is playable modded Skyrim, not just some top-end rendered shit. All you are stating here is an opinion. PC gaming will always have the "graphics king" due to things like mods and unlimited hardware power potential. Don't even try to sell a "console graphics king" to me, it won't work.

And I'd rather spend time playing Skyrim some more on my potato than play whatever Horizon is trying to be.

I do know modded skyrim but apparently you haven't seen the latest video from df. Sorry but modded skyrim doesn't reach this level of quality. It may have very high quality textures, but there's so much more happening in horizon zero dawn.

@foxhound_fox: Skyrim looks good but I think now it's starting to show its age. A good example of a game where mods make it almost untouchable would be Witcher 3.

Relevant you say. Garbage Games became irrelevant right after they developed the flop Shellshock and in order to remain afloat Sony has to buy them. Crytek is still independent. Next they made even bigger grabage known as Crapzone and even after four mainland entries it was so pathetic that even Sony has to pull the plug on it. And their latest turd is a TPS Far Cry with a female version of Drake. ROFLMAO. And their engine, wooooooo.....such a victory that Kojima is using their crap engine that does nothing new or even revolutionary. Crytek's tech have already been used to make hollywood movies and is in used in military simulations by US army. Not to mention their engine technology is licensed by one of the biggest tech companies of the world with the biggest and most robust cloud presence. LOL Garbage Games.

You call them revolutionary yet nobody will touch their engine hence why they cant pay their employees and are headed to bankruptcy. Not to mention KZ2 and Horizon are arguably better games then anything Crytek produced.

Crytek has still more licensees than entirety of all Sony engine has ever seen. And lol Crytek had 3 genre defining games to their credit. Something Sony with with their entire WW studios in their 20+ years couldn't do, let alone Garbage Games.

LOL the last license they sold of Cryengine 3 was in excess of 65M+ dollars. I doubt even Sony bought the then bankrupt Garbage Games at even 10th the price of it or even if Garbage Games are worth that much. Ouch!

Edit: Both Epic and Crytek has more quality Games and Technology to their credit than Garbage Games will ever be able to do or the entire Sony First Party will ever be able to produce.

And you are factually incorrect. Sonys first party has produced far more quality games then Epic and Crytek combined.

Lets call it for what it is. Crytek was a top tier dev from about 2001 to 2007 and now they are absolutely worthless.

Doesn't matter if it was the same genre. They still innovate within it the each time they worked on it before going to consoles. And Sony have no original titles to their credit. All they did is copied from someone else' works and even of lesser quality. So much so that their biggest franchise Uncharted is based on Gears after Sony ordered Naughty Duds to copy it. top kek.

And Crytek may not have produced a good game after 2008 but they were and are still technically capable. One of the example is Ryse which was their worst effort to date but still better than Crapzone: Shadow Fail technically while being on a 50% weaker hardware as per DF. LOL Sony First Party.

@zeeshanhaider: Uncharted as a franchise shits all over Gears. In any objective way you would rate the games rather it be reviews or sales UC as a series wins. On top of that outside of being a TPS they have nothing in common. God of War is one of the best action adventure games, Jax and Daxter is one of the best platformers and of course you have multiple games that copied Shadow of Colossus.

Ryse ran at 900p and had dips into the teens. If GG released something like that on PS4 you would trash them.
