A generation ahead is nothing more then hyperbole. As good as PC's look the hardware isn't nearly as impressive as it owuld be if it were an actual generation ahead.
Compare GTA: San Andreas to GTA IV. Now, compare the console version of BC2 with the PC version. Unless you are blind you aren't going to say that BC2 showcases more hardware changes and the same goes for Crysis 2 and Just Cause 2.
I mean yeah, PC games look great. Good for you, but its definitely not a generation ahead, and the gameplay/sound/AI are about exactly the same as on consoles.

I disagree. The only way you can say this is by looking at multiplats, which of course aren't a "generation" ahead as they also run on console (3 generations behind).
Lets just use what you cited: BC2 has a sound mode called "war tapes" (have you heard it?) Compare that to console - its a different world, truly. Can't hear that on console.
Graphically BC2 is a port, but compare the two side by side - BC2 PC looks like a different game, especially at 2560x1600.
AI - can't compare a multiplat here, since consoles have held back AI development - needless to say a PC CPU has 100000000 more free cycles for AI.
So really two things are happening in PC gaming - consoles are holding them back, that is true, but the trend is shifting - PCs are now thet primary platform for a bunch of games, which will then be gimped for console hardware. So, PC reigns supreme, even in a land of terrible console multiplats. It will continue to reign supreme and more-so as games are deved for PC and then stripped down for console.
